Specifically, Plaintiffs seek relief over Midjourney’s alleged direct copyright infringement, and demand that Midjourney be barred from further alleged infringement and pay either actual damages (an amount of damage that can be proven Midjourney is responsible for) or statutory damages limited to $150,000 per infringed work. Furthermore, for secondary copyright infringement, they also demand actual damages or statutory damages, again, up to $150,000 per infringed work.

I WAS going to upload this to art fight but I'm not sure if it fits the rules. And I was NOT about to get in any sort of trouble over a joke characters and not skimming the rules properly. Yes, I am a coward, I lament it. This is a chocolate cherry orange cake, the heart motif on the cherries and the orange slices would have been non negotiable to me but I would have loved to see cake toppers. Oh well :( It was meant to be a joke character but I was unsure of what permissions I could have if this WERE allowed as a character. And yes, I despise the use of image generators obviously so I have covered it a filter. I did make the mistake of using one brown darker than the line art but eh whatever.

A bill has been introduced in the US that would make all pornography a federal crime. Owning it. Creating it. Distributing it.

Under this law, fanart of nude characters would be a federal crime.

Under this law, depictions of homosexuality or simply being transgender, would be considered pornography and a federal crime.

This bill is not going to pass.

However, the reason for this bill is to continue to push the "overton window". The reason for this bill is to make banning pornography seem more and more normal to everyone until they can actually do that.

And remember, they consider depictions of gay characters and transgenders characters "pornography" in any context, including platonic.

They have been working on this for a decade now and it has been working.

If you are one of the people in fandom who thinks that "nasty" porn on AO3 should be banned because it's "icky" or "immoral", then this mental scam is working on you.

Censorship is never about protecting people.

Censorship is always about control.
