update 7/15/22

It's been a minute since I updated. The last one was 2021!!! Although I had a dose of healthy optimism within me when I came home, it slowly eroded over time. It's been a struggle but she's still here! I'm gradually picking up the pieces scattered all over the place. It really sucks to see how far I dropped the ball. I completely abandoned my trackers and lists (here and on other platforms). I also stopped doing things I like. While I know those are not measures of mental health, those were huge indicators for me that something is wrong. STILL, I'm pushing along. Hoping for better days ahead.

On today’s episode of "Mads and Jude know how to do their job", can we talk about how well their acting performances complement each other? Subtle performances are my personal favorites because they look so natural, so effortless, but in reality it requires a tremendous amount of skill to give the impression that you’re not even acting.

Look at Dumbledore’s expression at the beginning of this scene: before lifting his gaze to look at Grindelwald, he starts to blink very quickly. It can be interpreted in many ways but usually, when people blink excessively in a short amount of time it means that they’re facing inner struggles, they’re flustered and a bit stressed… Isn’t that exactly how Dumbledore is supposed to feel at that moment? Jude managed to show it in such a subtle and realistic way, it’s crazy.

Also look at Grindelwald’s expression when he sees Dumbledore: if you pay close attention to his lips corners, you’ll notice that his genuine smile fades for a sec. He’s probably overwhelmed with joy when he notices Dumbledore but bitterness quickly takes over; he goes from "my man’s there, we’re finally reunited" to "but I know we will both leave on our own again". This mouth mouvement is so delicate that it’s easy to miss it but it’s sooo important because it gives us precious insights into Grindelwald’s thoughts. Mads is an amazing actor too.

As I said before: details make perfection and both Jude and Mads are well aware of that.

After almost 2 years of living abroad, I’m back home!!! I'm back to all things familiar... or not. While many things stayed the same, a lot of things changed as well (sans the pandemic). Still, it's been great to eat the food I like, to be with people I missed and adore. It's been great so far. Now that I'm back with everything I know, it feels like my time abroad is surreal. When I browse my photos abroad, I tend to ask myself if it's real because it doesn't seem like it. I can't help but wonder how I spent my time there. Nevertheless, I'm filled with gratitude for the opportunity. I'd like to think that I'm gracious in viewing my years studying abroad.

As I integrate back into the system of my home, I have been observant and mindful. While I enjoy being with family, it’s been an interesting process to see the differences from the time I went away to now. Both in myself and my family. Somehow I feel like I've been given a blank slate to learn about myself, my family, my friends, my life here in the country. I know that the next step for me is to look for a job but I'm telling myself to take it easy and not feel pressured. I'm still soaking up the fact that I'm home!
