Keep Moving Forward
In 2007, the Walt Disney Animation Studios released the film Meet the Robinsons. While this movie flew under the radar for a lot of Disney fans, when someone asks me, "What's your favorite Disney movie?" it confuses people when I tell them it's this one. The question is usually followed up by "Why?" or "What's Meet the Robinsons?"
This movie holds a very special place in my heart, especially as a Disney fan. The movie is about a young boy who is an orphan. Through trial and error, he creates a device that allows the user to relive an old memory. Throughout the process of invention, he constantly gets frustrated with his failures and wants to completely give up. With a little encouragement from some friends from the future, he realizes that he needs to stop living in the past and "keep moving forward." Not accepting defeat, he succeeds, and his dreams finally come true.
I think as a kid, but espeically as an adult, as you watch this movie, the main character, Lewis, can resonate with a lot of us. We've all been in a dilema where we can't seem to get it right and want to quit so we don't have to think about it anymore. When I watch this movie, back when I was a kid and even still today, I see myself as Lewis. It inspires me to keep pushing to achieve my dreams, whether they be personal or career dreams, it doesn't matter. I just say "keep moving forward." It's not worth it to dwell on the past and miss out on the present. As Walt Disney said, "Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
When you visit my blog, I hope you can remember this very important phrase as you live your life. Be resilient. Don't give up when things get hard. Don't try to convince yourself that your dreams are not worth achieving. Don't tell yourself, "There's no point." Don't ask yourself, "What if I fail?" Instead, ask yourself, "What if I succeed?" "What if my dreams come true?" A little bit of hard work can go a long way! Don't give up. But most importantly, keep moving forward.
