Okay the people are asking for context, so I’ll explain my thought process

Irratino was very interested in saffron because he could not decipher if she was actually stupid or playing a character. He found it endearing enough to develop feelings.

Saffron liked the attention, and played along because of it. Also she was lowkey jealous of his hair and wanted his secrets. She also developed feelings but not as strong.

Also they both love patterned clothing and jewelry the relationship was doomed from the start.

Their actual relationship was EXTREMELY artificial. Neither of them got anything out of the relationship (saffron never got those hair secrets) and eventually broke up on really bad terms. Every time they see one another they give eachother the NASTIEST side eye.
