Look at this goodness amount of food!!! This is called Banana Leaf Rice (蕉葉飯). It's a traditional method of serving in South Indian cuisines. Consisting of Rasam, Tairu, root vegetables, pickles, fried gourd, papadum, a heap full of rice and choices of curry (dhal/fish/chicken). And if you feel luxurious, add some meat! Lots to choose from!! My lecturer once told us the science of eating banana leave rice and it makes so much sense that every single side dish complements and plays a role. . Finally an update of a recent eatery that I've visited. New understanding of a category within Japanese food: Tsukemen. Using yuzu (pomelo) as a dipping base and consume it with handmade ramen. Such is a style of eating that I've never come across yet. The gravy base is just nice for consumption. Not too strong to match with the cold noodles, get a choice to lighten it further with the dashi broth. On a chilly rainy morning like this, I can't help to want a nice hot slurpy bowl of noodles soup!! The nice smooth texture of the noodles in a hearty broth accompanied with mince meat and fried onions & anchovies. That!! Would be the greatness of Pan Mee~ Any Malaysian would agree that it is absolutely heartwarming!! This amazing Pan Mee is from Seremban Station in Summit, USJ 😊 . . Still remember that when I was in secondary, morning breakfast would be either porridge, bread or noodle soup. And Pan Mee is an all time favourite!! And it's been awhile since I last enjoyed a nice bowl of noodles. To appreciate the simplicity in life and the little details that is close to heart.
