Born in Punjab in 1929, he sailed by steam ship to Kenya in 1936 on invite of his uncle, Sardar Partap Singh, who had already been living and working as a metrologist in Kisumu. He migrated to Canada in 1975, and passed away earlier this year in 2017 at the age of 88, having lived an exemplary and brave life right to his final days. .
