Fleck and Kindsfatter Win! Kametches and Wark Climb Podium!

The third weekend of Formula Race Promotions Pro Racing Championship rolled into the iconic and unparalleled beauty of Barber Motorsports Park in conjunction with Historic Sportscar Racing, and the K-Hill drivers proved up to the challenge.

Under the Formula Atlantic tent, Dudley Fleck continues to accumulate pro racing poles and wins in the #74 Miller American Elan Power Swift 016. Driving his best weekend ever, according to engineer Tonis Kasemets, Dudley almost locked out the weekend - with pole and fastest lap in Race 1 - and pole, fastest lap, and win in race 2. Race 1 was almost a win, however wheel to wheel battles sometimes don’t end the way they are planned. Teammate and fellow Atlantic driver Kirk Kindsfatter would also earn podiums on the pro side in the restricted Atlantic class - coming home P2 in Race 1 and P3 in Race 2.

Not about to let Dudley and Kirk be the only guys on the podium, Ax Kametches continued his championship fight in the highly competitive F1600 pro racing championship - with a double podium weekend. The consummate promoter, Ax broadcast his in-car camera on his facebook page for the entire weekend. Did you see the excitement... Constantly battling in the lead pack, Ax would bring the Hot Betty’s / Race 4 Hunger / KnackerPower Mygale Honda home P3, P4, and P3. Alongside Ax in the F1600 tent, Omar Khan gains more valuable points with 3 - top 15 finishes.

With the FRP series running with Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR), the opportunity for Rick Wark to join the team for the weekend in his IndyLights car and Kirk Kindsfatter doing double duty in the Swift 014. When the time came for the Weathertech Sprint Race - Kirk would come home with a class win, and Rick would climb the podium as well in P3.

Next up for Dudley, Ax, Omar, and the entire K-Hill team in FRP Pro Racing - Pittsburgh International Race Complex - June 18-20

Dudley Wins in Ohio!
The Second weekend of the 2021 Formula Race Promotions championship took to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and its more podiums for K-Hill Drivers!!
Kicking off the Atlantic championship season with a victory in race 1, Dudley Fleck showed off his new Miller American Livery and new MiR Raceline USA driving suit in style on the top step of the podium.

With a solid P2 finish in Race 2 - Meet your Atlantic Championship Points Leader Dudley Fleck!!

In the F1600 garage, Ax Kametches put the #76 Hot Betty’s / Race 4 Hunger Mygale on the front row of a 28 car field in qualifying - showing off that Knackerpower. Omar Khan lined the #90 Mygale p19 for another solid top 20 run in the highly competitive Formula 1600 Championship.

Throughout Race 1 Ax battled wheel to wheel with the Pelfrey car of D’Orlando for second place - and in the end came across the line p2 and the highest finishing full time driver - earning valuable points in the long championship fight.

Without a solid multi-car draft in Race 1, Ax would line up Race 2 in p7. As he proved at Carolina, where you start means little and within laps was battling for a top five finish. Coming onto the front straight on the last lap, Ax went for a gap which disappeared quickly - and ended the day in the trap.

The K-Hill crew had little time to fix the #76, however kicked into high gear and showcased the professionalism to get Ax back on track for Race 3 to gain valuable points.
In the #90, Omar Khan was battling all weekend - gaining a ton of valuable wheel to wheel racing experience - bringing home solid top 20 finishes and improving every session.

Race 3 didn’t go as planned for anyone, yet both Ax and Omar are geared up and ready for another weekend of F1600 action from Barber Motorsports Park in just 2 weeks!

Ax Wins In Carolina

The Formula Race Promotions F1600 Championship season kicked off at Carolina Motorsports Park with Ax Kametches climbing from p11 in Qualifying to the top spot in the first race of the 2021 season.
With pre-season testing completed, the K-Hill Motorsports team loaded up and headed south with drivers Ax Kametches and Omar Khan in the highly competitive F1600 Championship for opening weekend in Kershaw, South Carolina.
Leading the team in qualifying was second year driver Omar Khan in the #90 lining up the Mygale in p8, with Ax in p11 in the Hot Bettys / Race 4 Hunger Mygale.

When the green flew on race one Ax began his march forward almost immediately. Closing the gap on the leaders lap after lap, Ax eventually caught the lead drafting pack and was able to jump to the top spot to take the checkered flag in Race 1.

Always improving over the past season, Omar Khan had a great race to bring home the #90 in p8. (p6 in class!)

Saturday morning was time for Race 2 of the weekend, and once again Ax displayed the speed of the K-Hill cars earning not only the fastest race lap, but the fastest lap of the weekend - and the only driver in the “32′s” - setting a time of 1:32.952 while crossing the line in p8 just ahead of Omar in p9.

Ax Kametches - Fastest Lap of the Weekend!

Starting on pole for Race 3, Ax and the lead pack battled wheel to wheel lap after lap putting on the usual amazing show in F1600 racing. In the end Ax would settle for p4 - while claiming the 3rd fastest race lap.

Once again Omar would bring the #90 home for a third straight top-10 finish to cap off a great weekend of racing from Carolina Motorsports Park.

Round-Garrido wins at COTA

Almost a year ago today, the K-Hill trucks rolled for the first time without Kris Kaiser. That weekend last year at COTA proved he left a highly capable, championship winning crew to carry on his legacy. Throughout 2019 K-Hill continued to win not only races, but a half dozen championships as well.
Now the team returns to COTA, a full year into its new world – and is stronger than ever. Taking multiple podiums, and a race win at the opening rounds of the 2020 SCCA season in Homestead and Sebring, K-Hill continues a winning tradition.

As the team rolled into COTA for the February “Lone Star Grand Prix” – one couldn’t help but be hopeful as the name change had to improve the weather, or at least mentally make it better than the 2019 “Polar Prix” where it was mid 30’s and sleeting.

Newest K-Hill Driver - Omar Khan
Friday proved to be a bit chilly, but at least the 50-degree temps are high enough for tires to function properly. Carrying the flag in the Formula Atlantic – K-Hill regular Dudley Fleck arrived to pilot the familiar #74 Guinness – Mazda Swift. While on the other side of the garage, the 2019 June Sprints winner, and USF2000 regular, Matt Round-Garrido returns to F1600 for more testing for his full-time ride. Joining K-Hill for the 2020 season is newcomer to racing – Omar Khan. Omar is a successful young man in his professional life and decided it was time to become a race car driver – never too late to start your dream!

Saturday morning brought overcast skies and a cool, crisp Texas winter day. First to roll out for qualifying was the Formula Atlantic class, with Dudley Fleck looking very fast at the legendary circuit, putting the #73 Guinness Swift on the outside pole.
The last group to hit the track before lunch, the F1600 class rolled out and it was immediately the Matt Round-Garrido show – with the Brit going seconds faster than second place. Locking in pole was not guaranteed however, as Matt was busted for a few “track limit” infractions – losing 5 laps, yet retaining pole for Saturday’s race. Rookie teammate Khan would put the #90 Mygale in the top 5 for his first ever qualifying session - and was all smiles on Saturday morning.
As the day progressed, the sun kept fighting to come out, warming up to just around 60 degrees for Atlantic race time. When the green flag flew, Dudley would stick to the wing of the lead Atlantic and despite his best efforts to climb the top step would bring home his second p2 finish of the 2020 season.

Once again formula cars were the last race of the day and with a setting sun creeping across the COTA circuit, Matt and Omar rolled out p1 and p4 to take the green flag. Almost immediately jumping up to P3, Omar Khan looked poised to join Matt near the front. Lap after lap Omar continued his development lowering lap times every lap, but would get shuffled back late and come home p4 in his first ever SCCA race. Having never been to COTA, Matt also continued to lower lap times, setting the fastest race lap on the very last lap, while taking another win for K-Hill.

Following the dry races on Saturday, the talk of Sunday morning was R-A-I-N. One man was all smiles, the Brit of course, which after his domination of the 2019 June Sprints in damp conditions is easy to see why.
Opting to take Saturday’s time, instead of dredging around in the wet, Dudley Fleck skipped wet qualifying – and grids up once again on the outside front row.

In the developmental F1600 class, both Matt and Omar took advantage of track time to improve their skills in any conditions. Although times from Saturday would trump the wet times on Sunday to set the grid, Matt and Omar would bring the K-Hill cars in from go fast time p1 an p3 respectively.
When it was race time, rain was still threatening and the track was a bit damp – yet almost all drivers chose to roll out on Hoosier racing slicks for race day. A single car was willing to shred rain tires in the drying conditions and almost lapped the entire field, however in the slippery side of the race – Dudley Fleck was class of the field – coming home p2 overall and in FA to go back to back podiums at COTA.
Not to be outdone, the F1600 boys both rolled out on slick tires for their race and proved it was the right choice for the last race of the day at the Lone Star Grand Prix. Leading the field to the green flag, Matt Round-Garrido in the #27 Torq Racewear – Mygale Honda jumped out to the front, even playing with a much faster Formula Continental car for a few laps, and come home for another race win to back up his dominant win on Saturday. Rookie teammate Omar Khan continued his development getting ready for the FRP Pro season qualifying and finishing in the top 5 both days, continuing to get faster and faster every session.

Congratulations again to all the K-Hill drivers and crew on a phenomenal weekend of SCCA Hoosier Tour racing.

2020 opens with back to back weekends in the Florida Sun.
Homestead-Miami Speedway and Sebring International Raceway – the best places to spend the first two weeks of the roaring 20’s!

A long-standing tradition of opening up the season in Florida continued with Dudley Fleck taking to the banks at Homestead in the Guinness – Mazda Swift Atlantic – bringing home double podium finishes, including finishing second, only .09 behind first place.

Following Homestead, it was on to Sebring for the first Hoosier Super Tour event of the year. K-Hill regular Mike Jacques jumped in his beautiful silver and neon yellow Swift Atlantic, alongside Wisconsin native and newcomer to K-Hill, Rob Radmann in the Napoleon Grills – Mygale Honda Formula F.

Friday was go-time, and Mike took his familiar place among the front runners for qualifying, ending Q1 in the top 3. On the F1600 side, Radmann continued his development with an eye on the ultimate prize this fall, to win the SCCA Runoffs for K-Hill and bring the team a third straight title. Radmann began the weekend playing catch-up after missing the Thursday test sessions, and practice #1 was plagued with red and black flags – yet in the end was able to come out of Q1 less than a second off the front row.

With overcast skies threatening the Saturday morning sessions, Radmann rolled out for his second ever qualifying session on the full course at Sebring in damp, chilly, sketchy condition… and topped the timesheets in the #08 Napoleon Products – Mygale Honda FF.
With little time to relish in the results, Radmann took the green flag for the first time in 2020 and immediately jumped up two positions going through turn one. Working his way up to 3rd by lap 4, Radmann continued to battle lap after lap, continuing to learn the challenging 17 turn race course. Coming through the famed turn 17 on the final lap, Radmann went a bit wide and ended up with a top-5 finish in his first race at Sebring.

On the other side of the tent, Mike Jacques chose to sit out Q2, as the damp track would make any effort at improving his times an exercise in futility. Lining up P3 for the first race of the weekend on Saturday afternoon, Mike had a great start headed into turn one vying for second place. With less than one lap before a safety car was deployed, Mike kept his focus and set his sights on the lead Formula Atlantic, which was in fact an SCCA Pro Racing F3 car! Mike kept the F3 car in his sights for most of the race, however would never get his shot at the lead as another full course caution would cause the race to end behind the safety car, giving Mike a second-place finish in Race #1.

Sunday morning was early call for the F1600 field, rolling out for Race 2 of the weekend at 8:30 am. Fresh morning dew still glistening in the sunlight, the F1600 field took the green flag and once again Radmann was moving forward. Lap after lap the 5 car train drafted around each other, with all the drivers taking their turn as the lead car. Side-by-side action and wheels dropping in the dirt has come to epitomize Formula 1600 racing, and Race 2 did not disappoint – with Radmann swapping fast laps all session – and brought the #08 Napoleon Products – Mygale Honda home just .04 from a podium finish.

Still finalizing his full 2020 plans, Rob may end up taking the green in some Pro F1600 races this season, but you can definitely find him going for a June Sprints win at Elkhart Lake this summer!
Having to wait until the penultimate race of the weekend to hit the track for Race #2, Mike Jacques was ready for a second chance to take on the F3 car in his Toyota powered Swift 014. Taking the green flag under gorgeous sunny skies, Mike took the green and jumped to the lead, never looking back - through two full course cautions and re-starts, Mike kept his head down and brings home a win to kick off 2020!
