I really wish people would realize domestic abuse is a symptom of a systematic issue. All the awareness in the world isn't going to stop people from abusing their children and partners.

Until capitalism (not that abuse doesn't happen under communism or other systems but injustice absolutely fuels abuse in all cases) and by extension the nuclear family model are dealt with. Until children are given the right to safely leave their homes if they feel unsafe, until money is not a factor in escaping abusers, until we have free open borders so people can enter or leave the us safely and easily, and so many other systematic issues abuse is still going to happen.

It's not that without distress caused by injustice abusers wouldn't exist, obviously they always will exist. But they are supported by these systems, we live in societies where abuse is how one gets what they want and what they're told to want. Until abuse isn't incentivized it will run rampant.

So at work there is a soda delivery guy who comes in almost everyday to restock and though we’ve barely said a word to each other, we definitely Know Of each other. Well this morning I finally got a shift where I could sleep in but my dad was like Hey the cable guy is coming at 7 to replace the cable boxes and I was like alright whatever I’ll just sleep in but forgot there was a cable box in my room. So it’s 7 in the morning I vaguely hear my dad let the cable guy into my room to just swap the box and I wake up to see??? Soda Delivery Guy???? in my room????
