9-1-1 fandom discourse is crazy wdym my choices are either 'eddie is abusive' or 'buck was being a self-centered baby who needed to be taught a lesson' 😭😭😭 wasn't the whole point that eddie lashed out in grief in a characteristically irrational and unfair way that was assholish and that he should apologize for (and DID, in a way that he and buck both understood), and that buck didn't realize the impact of his pain, even internalized, on others, because he's characteristically assuming that his pain doesn't matter, which IS self-centered in a paradoxically selfless way and should be unlearned (which he DOES try to, when eddie calls him out on it)???

i’ll defend eddie diaz until my dying breath, but sometimes i think people go so far in defending eddie that they put all of the blame on buck and that doesn’t sit right with me either.

i have such big feelings about the fact that every time people act like buck is being selfish, it’s always when buck is thinking about others: selfish because he wanted to get back to his family during the lawsuit, selfish because he was trying to help eddie move to el paso even though it was ripping him apart, selfish because he’s so focused on making sure everyone else is okay that he neglects his own grief. idk man, maybe i’m too autistic for this but none of that seems selfish to me. it just seems human.

the whole point of that kitchen scene is that neither of them were wrong. they were both grieving, which is an inherently selfish, lonely, isolating thing, and i don’t think that makes either of them the bad guy in this.

i'm gonna speak my truth here, i do not think that eddie wants buck to stop making assumptions and ask him how he feels, because i do not think eddie wants to look at how he actually feels, let alone talk about it.

eddie is truly thee diva of all time. he got all bitchy about buck getting groceries because eddie had already said he was gonna get them. like ok girl but you very much did not come into that house with any groceries so now what. now we’re both mad as hell eating bowls of dry cheerios for dinner in a dark ass kitchen for no reason. while gay.

i think it's important to point out that eddie's parents stole his kid and were letting people believe they were christopher's parents, yet eddie was gentle as he announced he was taking his son back. yeah, he was petty and left his dad in lubbock, but he also kissed his mom on the forehead as he went to leave.

meanwhile, he is willing to scream and cry and point his finger in buck's face. because he is safe with buck in a way he isn't safe with his parents. the difference is SO LOUD. eddie can't be messy there. they are watching his every move, so he has to keep himself together. but with buck, he knows he can fall apart, and buck will still be there. and that's why LA (buck) will always be home. and why el paso (his parents) can never be.

I think it's amazing that Eddie is surrounded by successful marriages with amazing kids and the show still makes him ask and take advice from the most single and childless person of the lot. Now that's a choice

In a typical fandom bang, fic is written first and then art is created for the fic. In a reverse bang like this one, the art is created first and the fic is then written based on the art. Creators will have a two month head start to create any of the accepted forms of art because submitting their creations for our writers to choose from. Once matched, writers will have two months to work with their artists to create a fic with a minimum word count of 2.5k.
