He’s glad when Izuku chooses to abandon the line of conversation about his ghostlike nature, knowing as fatigued as he is, he does not have the patience to take a gently, gently approach. In that frame of mind, he’s more than likely to say something incorrect, to fracture one of the cracks that had only just started healing.

He feels the weight of the paper leave his hand and the scratch of pen over the surface so he knows that he’s Izuku’ studying his plan, working alongside him, so he falls back into silence, sketching thoughts out, scribbling out errors and writing scrawled notes across the paper. It’s messy - not like his class notes that were always meticulous and tidy - a chaotic scrawl trying to figure out something, anything, to give them the edge.

“Haah..?” he turns out the sound of that age old nickname, barely registering the question before he huffs. “Sleepin’ ain’t something I do as much these days. Not between looking for your ass and workin’ out what Lend a Hand’s up to next…” There’s more to it than that, the return of nightmares he thought he’d left behind, the discomfort of laying down so still that he feels like he’s in a hospital bed, the panic that crawls up his throat. But he’s not ready to admit as much. “I’ll rest when I’m done. Don’t worry your ass so much…”

Adjusting himself in his seat, there was a few minutes of silence, Izuku’s hand carefully writing notes and corrections in various plans. Quiet muttering starts as he considered the plan laid out in front of him. It was a good starting point, but there was also so many unknowns. He kept muttering potential remedies to himself as he crossed things out, scribbling alternatives in neater handwriting. Still, he had to admit, that finding an edge in this war is going to be a minefield.

“You shouldn’t lose sleep over me, Kacchan.” The murmur comes quietly, his pen flying over the page as he worked, still muttering quietly to himself. It was such a speed now that even if Izuku could be heard, a lot of what was escaping his lips may not be understandable. “I..” Despite the conscious effort to repair their friendship, izuku still tread lightly. He couldn’t openly admit he was worried, at least not at this delicate phase. Maybe, instead...

“How about you get some sleep while I look over all the plans so far?” Izuku phrased, quietly. “You’ll probably have more ideas after resting, and it gives me a chance to look over everything we have so far. use it to come up with a concrete plan. Then, we can switch.” The offer was quiet, eyes already scanning the next piece of paper. “I...know I can’t say much, but...” He swallowed. “We can’t help anyone if we don’t...look after ourselves.” He’s aware he’s a damn hypocrite.

    “Of course, Izzy!” Yoichi can’t help but giggle, Izuku trying to talk through a mouthful of cookie is adorable…but also a choking hazard. “Ah, hold on, let me get you some milk.” One hand ruffles those messy, green curls, and heads into the café kitchen.

    A few minutes later, the albino returns with a glass of milk, sweetened with cinnamon and vanilla extract. “Here you go! Mind if I join you for a bit? I feel like it’s been some time since we’ve hung out.” It’s understandable; Yoichi works and Izuku is busy with hero things…still, he misses it.

Izuku swallows heavily at the hair ruffle, managing to restrain himself from taking another cookie. Somewhat impatiently, he waited for Yoichi to return, his stomach growling slightly.

“Thank you...!” His grin grew ever brighter as he took a sip of milk, eyes brightening. “It’s really good...!” Izuku murmured, picking up another cookie and biting into it, slower this time.

“I’d...really like that...” Izuku nodded, patting the spot next to him. “It’s been a while since we’ve been able to hang out like this, so I’m looking forward to it...!”

Izuku took notes on Monoma’s form - the way his hands shook, the tell-tale signs of eyes darting about. Izuku also understood that fear all too well- his class had so many run-ins with villains. 1-B had their fair share of attacks - the thought of the training camp sent a shiver down the hero in training’s spine.

This particular villain was especially dangerous. Not due to any potential physical impacts - no, the idea that his fears are able to be projected sent a ball of ice into Izuku’s stomach. Without a doubt, it was absolutely critical he wasn’t hit by that Quirk.

One for All would be revealed, after all. Taking a deep breath to steady himself, there’s a nod, slipping his hood up and attaching it to his mask. He rarely wore this part of his costume - but it seemed wise to protect himself in as many ways as he could, especially if he was going in for close range. He didn’t know the activation conditions of the opponent’s Quirk right now, so it was worth closing off as many opportunities at that moment.

“Right! I’ll aim for one swift kick to the head. Be careful - do you have any Quirk copied right now? Ideally, we need something to provide cover while I get in close, just in case my speed isn’t enough.” There was a chance the activation conditions could be either touch-based or eye contact based, after all.
