I never post on here anymore ahaha, but here’s a drabble I’ve written thanks to a prompt!

Prompt: Jay and Kai sharing a soft [look] across a crowded room.

Skylor didn’t know why Kai wasn’t looking at her the way he used to anymore. True, she had no feelings for him, and he knew that, and he knew that she knew he had feelings for her.

But she digressed.

Nowadays, Skylor took notice of Kai no longer looking at her with what she deemed “puppy eyes”- the wide, bright eyes of a daydreaming child, so to speak. No, instead he looked almost normal talking with her, just a friend coming to his girl friend’s workplace to have a chat.

Skylor wondered what made Kai change his tune. It was only a week since he last visited, and he was still staring puppy-eyed at her then. What changed during the week?

She noticed at a party what changed. It was hosted at the Noodle Shop, the EMs and other allies of the ninja hanging around. They all toyed with the idea of inviting the Hypnobrai Serpentine leader Skales, but were politely shot down. Nevertheless, the party was still fun.

Skylor was talking with Kai at the party, and Chamille had come over shouting profanities. Tox followed after her, scowling just a little and telling Chamille to “quiet down! The green kid’s just over there!” The master of amber laughed at them, and out of the corner of her eye she saw Kai turn and witnessed his face morph into the one she knew fondly. Following the boy’s line of sight, Skylor’s eyes landed on another boy with the exact same lovestruck expression from the other side of the room, his blue eyes shining purple with the pink tint of the lights.

Oh, Skylor smirked to herself as she took a sip of her water. That’s what changed.
