Hey, I totally get this! I suggest finding a server or group focused around being fictionkin. There's a bunch on discord and on other places too. Make sure you feel comfortable with the people you surround yourself with, if they say anything that you don't like about your identity, find somewhere else! There's a whole lot of places I'm sure would be open to having you!

Remember, this is YOUR identity. Not anyone elses. Don't let people tell you how you should feel.

is it possible to age regress when shifted into a fictotype? and is there a name for this

I'm not sure about the other mods, but yes! This happens to me with certain kintypes! I am not entirely sure if there's a name since I have not found one myself, but hey! You could always coin one. But yes, it is entirely possibly to age regress when shifted, I know from personal experience. It may be different for other people though, we aren't all the same after all!

Hello! Im not a system but i find myself using we/us pronouns for myself and im wondering if that invalidates systems. i am truly curious and im always open to any criticism!

Hey! So, I discussed this with the other mods, and we came to the conclusion that we believe this would be fine as long as you're not calling yourself a system, y'know? We/us was a pronoun royalty would use on themselves, after all. I feel it depends on the power and meaning you put behind it. Like, if you're using it in a way to call yourself a system or invalidate them, then it would be wrong. (But I know you're not doing that lol)

As all 3 of us are not systems, we can't really speak on the feelings of those who are, but rather this is our own opinion.

Hopefully this is helpful! If any systems would like to give their own input for this person, we encourage that! Since we don't really know how others feel about it.

hey mind if i ask about the distinction between kin and comfort characters?

Hey! Sorry this took a while to get to, but sure!

Comfort characters are characters you find comfort and consolation in. They don’t have any connections to your identity like kinning does. Really any character that makes you feel comforted and happy when you see them can count as a comfort character!

Kin is a part of your identity. It can vary from species (real or fictional), to fictional characters, to even places or concepts (and much more)! Whatever your kin may be is you or a part of you. It can be spiritual, psychological, or even physical! All three are valid as not everyone experiences their kins the same! Most people experience their kin as a past life (such as me), but it can also be your current life, or something completely different! It’s all about how you feel and experience it. People can even gain memories of being that kin! But you don’t need memories to be kin. Contrary to popular misconceptions, kinning does not mean relating. It’s much more than that. (The term for relating is actually synpath or otherhearted!)

While the two are very different, some people do find out they’re kin of their comfort characters! Or they could have copinglinks of them, in which you identify as that character/animal/concept etc. as a coping mechanism. I hope this cleared up some things, and if you do suspect you may be kin, I’d suggest doing some research of your own to see what truly feels right for you!

Hii! :) I have a question.

I have been thinking that I am probably fictionkin for monthss, but the character I identify myself with is also a great source of comfort for me in a… disconnected sense. I sometimes imagine them being with me, or something. However, when I think about them being with me, there’s not actually a “me.”

I can hardly imagine myself as anyone who’s not them, but I disconnect “myself” from them and imagine “me” being their friend or dating them because I’m so lonely and struggle connecting to anyone other than someone who’s basically me. This probably reads confusing.. It is just as confusing as it sounds though.

Is this valid, and can I still call myself a fictionkin of that character?

Hey!! This is completely valid! My friend experiences something similar. They suggested that you most likely are fictionkin, but possibly a different version of that character, like from a non canon compliant timeline. I think that seeing it as a comfort and stuff could also be expressing self love in your own way! You could be seeing yourself with the canon version of your kintype.

heya! voidkin/godkin here. recently i've just felt sort of... disconnected from my divinity? i guess is how i would put it? i know i'm divine. i know that. but i don't feel as connected to it as i usually do. can i get some advice to re-establish that connection?

if possible, could i also get a moodboard of different photos of space, with a theme of the aurora borealis and different galaxies? no pressure for this ofc :3

Hey, sorry for the late reply!! I'll be taking over a lot of the asks sent for now as the other mods are a bit busy still.

You could try creating an atmosphere that connects to your kintype, maybe one with space themed items or star projectors! Candles could also be a good idea. If you have a closet, you can turn it into a safe space with stuff you relate to your kintype, as well!

Floating in water can mimic being in space even.

Treating yourself well with things like self care can maybe help, too! Spending extra time pampering yourself can feel like being worshipped. Maybe even making your own personal altar!

Hey, so ive been looking at a lot of therian/otherkin stuff for a while now and im not really 100% certain if I identify as a therian or anything like that, but I do have therian traits?? If that makes sense??? Like I bark a lot, I growl a lot, I just do a lot of animalistic behaviors, sometimes as a stim and other times as like a sort of involuntary reaction to bad thoughts. With all that being said, is there any way you could tell whether youre a therian or not? I know some therians believe that they were animals in a past life or something, is that required to consider yourself a therian?

Hi, thanks for sending this in! Sorry about the late response! While many therians do have the past life connections, it is not required! It can be simply a spiritual connection to that animal or even a mental connection. Or it can even just be a part of your identity in some way, shape, or form! Although, I do think that might be more of an animalkin thing? I'm not completely sure of the difference, but I think it might just depend on the person and how they choose which feels more fitting for them. You could also be otherhearted, which is where you relate/connect to the animal, but it isn't as spiritual or part of your identity. Mainly just relating to them, y'know? You can also have animal copinglinks, where the connection is purely for coping reasons! The last possibility I can think of is being a pet regressor, as that can be voluntary or involuntary, similar to being a copinglink. Although, pet regression is when your mind regresses to the state of an animal. If any of these sound like something you'd like to explore more, I'd recommend doing some research on 'em!
