Text
the moon has been watching me
all evening and as i step into
my twenty fourth year on this earth
i’m reminded of everything that
has got me here and all of the things
that have almost prevented me from doing so
i’ve loved the moon since i was a child
most nights, she’s all i have
i hated being twenty three but
as she shines down on me now
i am happy that i lived to see the
age of twenty four
i promised the moon that i’ll try my best
to enjoy this life
and my body, a little more
twenty four // kira malibu

it’s hard to determine if i’m
gravitating towards a higher purpose
i can’t tell if it’s good for me
but it feels different
i’m unsure if i’m pleased with who i am
but i prefer this version of myself
to past ones
i’m twenty four in two weeks and
i never thought i’d see this age,
so that says something
my mother called me last night and her
declarations of love are finally
starting to mean something
so maybe i’m healing
self deprecation has never felt less appealing
