the J-Pop singer 'Kyary Pamyu Pamyu' brought the attention of young women to a store called HELLCATPUNKS (which had/still has heaps of gurokawa stuff), though it still had a bit of attention when fans of the psychobilly music genre bought from it. more about psychobilly here.

the birth of this j-fashion started around the 2000's, and got popular in the 2010's (because of Kyary).
