KINNPORSCHE TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY EVENT
ā prompt: haunting
"What about you, Chay? What about your first love?"
"Yeah, you haven't said anything so far."
Porchay looks back and forth between his friends. He's not quite sure what to say.
There are no words to describe the throbbing wound in his chest where the memory of fluttering infatuation should be.
It's nothing but an ugly, bleeding gash.
Beneath his ribs, memories rot.
The space that should be occupied by practiced ease and the knowledge what it's like to be loved stands run-down and abandoned; wails echoing through the hollow interior.
So, Porchay just shrugs. "It wasn't really that special."

prompt: haunting
She drifts around the room looking at the books that line the walls, the words written on their spines crawling like insects, indecipherable. She frowns at them and walks away, back to her easel. Itās in front of the window today, glorious sunshine filtering through the gauzy curtains. She takes a moment to look at the grounds outside. Sheās allowed to do this because the glass is one-way. She doesnāt remember how she knows this.Ā
There are new paints by her easel. She doesnāt recall when she finished the old ones. Painting comes easier to her than words, like the images are caught up in the spaces where other thoughts should be and are clamouring to get out. Her brush moves like someone else is controlling itā a ghost that lurks at the edges of her mind. Or maybe she is the ghost, an echo left over in the body she now awkwardly inhabits. The thought scares her, so she instead falls into the give and take of painting, watching distantly as she creates without quite knowing how.Ā
She glances out of the window. There are some bodyguards outside, she can recognise their faces without ever having met them, or knowing their names. Thereās a new one out there today. Heās tall and tanned, and it seems like he would be graceful if only he could control himself better. Clearly heās complaining about something, gesticulating wildly. She smiles; itās nice to see one of the guards so animated.Ā Ā
The man turns around and her expression falls, brush stuttering in its strokes. Thereās something about his face thatās unsettling. Like the paintings that fight their way out of her, thereās something screaming in the back of her mind, begging to be heard, but it is just out of reach.Ā
Unsteady hands take the current canvas down and replace it with a fresh one. She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes, letting the ghost inside of her pilot her movements. Before long there is a sketchā two birds facing one another, wings folded in, perched in silhouette.Ā
Sheās not sure what it means, but she knows it must mean something.Ā
That evening, when her brother gives her the medicine he promises is necessary, she hides the pill under her tongue and disposes of it once heās left.Ā
There is something in her that must be let out. And Namphueng is tired of being a ghost.Ā

KINNPORSCHE TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY EVENT
ā prompt: heist
"What else?"
Vegas walks into the room just in time to overhear Macau's question. Him and Pete are sitting at the table, Macau leaning in as if he's interrogating Pete.
"Uhm, I don't know..."
"What's going on?" Vegas interrupts.
"P'Pete is telling me about all the cool things he did." Macau contemplates for a second. "What about a heist?"
Pete nods and Macau lights up.
"What did you steal?" Another pause. His eyes narrow and he jabs out a finger in Vegas' direction. "If you say some shit like 'his heart' I'm never talking to you again."
Pete just grins.

āHey,ā Porsche says. āUhhh. So.ā
Big watches him flounder in silence.
(The bridge of Porscheās nose is an angry, irritated red. Big wonders whether Porsche got that bruise while protecting Kinn.)
Porsche rubs at the back of his neck. āLook. Before we go on this casino stakeout, I wanted to say... I know Iāve fucked up a lot of missions. But this one is really important to me. We need to make sure Kinn stays safe. So letās work together on this one, yeah?ā
He holds out his hand ā a truce. A far more gracious one than Big deserves.
Because Big is a fool. Big had seen how inexperienced Porsche was, how thoroughly he was favored in spite of it, and Big had despised him. Big had tried so hard to grind Porscheās face into the dirt, to teach Porsche his place.
And then Porsche was alone in a forest with Kinn for days. Porsche kept Kinn alive, healthy and well-fed. Porsche single-handedly saved Kinn from being murdered in the rocky wilderness, where Big could not reach him. Porscheās star is rising, and there is no stopping it.
All Big can do is carve out a space for himself in the shadow of Porscheās blinding radiance.
(The one thing Porsche couldnāt do was stop Kinn from getting shot. Big would have stopped it. Big would have put himself in front of that bullet, and Kinn would have let him.)
Porscheās hand, held open in genuine invitation, mocks Big for every petty misstep heās ever made.
Big has no choice. His hand reaches out in return, in surrender.

photographic evidence of me being on the strugglebus with this one
prompt: tension
Kim balances his guitar on his knee and gently pinches the peg between his thumb and finger. He strums once, lets his ears adjust to the discrepancies in the sound, and begins to twist the peg, plucking at the strings as he does so. He breaths in and out slowly, focusing completely on his task. His fingers are slow and careful, concentrating on each string in turn. There is no room here for thoughts of young, naive boys with bright smiles and a talent for songwriting. Nor is there space for meticulous investigation, an entanglement of families and murder and lies that only muddles further the more Kim stares at it.Ā
When he is particularly stuck, music helps him put things in perspective. There needs to be balanceā enough pressure to find the correct pitch, but too much stress on your strings risks a break. And he canāt afford to break.Ā
He tightens, and strums, and doesn't think about the polaroids Chay keeps hiding for him. The sting of love and guilt doesnāt lessen at each he finds; neither does the sick feeling in his stomach at the knowledge that he doesnāt deserve them and yet, selfishly, wants to keep them anyway. He has to remind himself it is necessary, though the excuse grows more hollow each time he repeats it.Ā
He turns the peg, plucks a string andā there. He pauses. Strums again.Ā
A perfect harmony, but the dissonance lingering around Kim doesnāt dissipate. He puts down the guitar, unable to shake the feeling that heās running away.

Chay wakes up every morning, alone in his big, quiet house, and thinks about all the ways his last conversation with Porsche should have gone.
In his mind, every new line he tries sounds more convincing than the last. Pa and Mae wouldnāt care about the house. They would want us to stay together. They would want you to be happy, too.
If youāre not happy, Iām not happy. Donāt you want me to be happy, Hia?
If youāre going to destroy yourself, Iāll destroy myself too. Iāll quit school. Iāll get a job. You canāt stop me, just like I canāt ever stop youā
Chay is not stupid. He knows it could never have gone that way. There are things that Chay cannot bear to say ā lines that he will never cross ā because to do so would break Porscheās heart.
But he thinks about it. He thinks about the staggering bravery it would take to say, your dreams for me are not my own. Ask me what I want. Listen to my answer.
