Kit frowned slightly as the bellboy informed her that if she needed help, she should go to the desk. Someone was clearly onto her, but she figured she would play along, just for kicks.-~-

When she approached, she noticed a familiar face, and knew she had to be very careful. There were a few ways this could go- and only a few of them were good. -~-

“I just escaped some verifiably frivolous drama. I must let the truth ring, which is fairly difficult in my currently peeved state. But that one is not my point, or not at the moment; when are any rooms available? I figured that, perhaps, I should ask you.” -~-

Kit laughs softly, only halfway lying- Mitchum looked worse whether she’d beaten the shit out of him or not, which she had. -~-

“Don’t worry about me, Mallahan,” She vaguely avoids the conversation. “Justice needed to be served, so I dished what needed to be and there was.. a bit of kickback, of course.”-~-

In all honesty, it wasn’t that bad- a few bruises here and there, a sore ankle, but nothing permanent. Certainly not as bad as when her brother had received similar kickback.-~-

... then again, he was essentially jumped. -~-

“is that blood?” Moxie asked, standing up from her spot at the counter. Kit was using the same aversion technique her brother had used – but something told her Kit was a little more resourseful than Lemony had been. she moved to sit next to Kit and glanced her over, noticing partially concealed bruises she hadn’t seen before. 

“I just hope the other guy looks worse.”

“Some weather, huh?”

She looks over at Moxie as they sit in the lighthouse, still drenched from the pouring rain outside. Kit’s hands are shaking a little, but that’s not anything odd; they’re always like that.-~-

Stew Mitchum had one hell of a punch, she thought, but she didn’t dare say it out loud. Picking fights with the neighborhood bullies was usually something her brother did.-~-

She tried not to think about him much, but that wasn’t the worry right now. Her main worry was how to keep Moxie from figuring out she’d lost a fight with Stew Mitchum.-~-Kit frowns down at the floor, trying to keep from coughing, but it’s no use. The sharp, painful sound echoes through the room even with her elbow to her face, and she winces at the taste of blood in her mouth and on her sleeve.-~-

In the middle of a conversation, my muse begins to cough up blood. How does your muse respond?

“Oh crap, You're bleeding, that's blood. Ok. That isn't good. You're going to take a break, alright?” Kit took the girl’s arm worriedly and looked her in the eyes. She looked too weak and too tired.

“That's not good, why didn't you tell me you were this bad?” She inquired.

“Alright, okay. Sorry.” Kit sheepishly looks at the floor, catching the annoyance in Moxie’s voice and not liking it. 

The teenager looks dizzy, enough to worry her, but Kit gives her space and doesn’t bother her further. It reassures her a little that she was going to have tea; that would help her cough some, at least.

“Alright, okay. Sorry.” Kit sheepishly looks at the floor, catching the annoyance in Moxie’s voice and not liking it.

“yeah, well I’m not your brother,” she mumbles, pushing her hand away. that’s one thing she’s thankful for - no matter how sick she is, she’s still STRONGER than most people she meets. which includes the Snicket siblings. “I’m fine. I just need to finish this, alright?”

“That's exactly what my brother would say.” Kit sighs, a little exasperatedly, and presses the back of her hand to the shorter girl’s forehead. Sure enough, she's warm, noticeably so, and she looks pretty tired. 

The archives are fairly dusty, but not enough for that much coughing to be caused. Moxie is pale, but her cheeks are flushed, and she's wearing a thick sweater in mid-August.

“I’m not sick,” she argues, tongue pressed hard to the roof of her mouth to keep from sneezing. maybe her head feels like she’s been subjected to a nazi head injury experiment, & maybe her lungs won’t stop convulsing, but she’s fine. there’s no way she’s doing anything but finish this. “there’s just a lot of DUST in here.”
