I need your help

Soooo, hello everyone~ We have gained about 1,000 followers since the last time I was on here so hello to everyone, welcome to my very unstable life. Im sorry I haven't been recommending much lately, Ive kinda fallen out of reading fanfics in favor of roleplaying which is something Ive done for years now. So, Im definitely not familiar with a lot of stuff that has come out lately. 

SO, I need your help. I would love to have people recommend me fics that they love and Im gonna try and read as many of them as I can and Ill decide whether or not I wanna recommend them based on if I like it or not. 

I know that's literally my job on here, but between school, work and roleplaying, its hard for me to find my own fics with how many have been added to the fandom so far.

EDIT: So, I wont be totally upset if Klance isn't a thing. I love what they could be, but in my mind this is their show and their story to tell. Yes, the fandom has fallen in love with a specific couple, but if it wasn't what they planned to do than Im not going to hold it against them if it doesn't happen. I love Klance, don't get me wrong its how I found this show, but if it doenst happen I wont riot. Ill be upset yes, but I love Voltron because of its story, not its ships.

Hi there! So I’m really new to this fandom and ship and I was wondering if you’d mind recommending me some of the classic/ must read fics? Thank you so much 💕💫

Since there are so many classic fics within the fandom. I’m gonna recommend five to get you started. Sorry for getting to this late and hopefully you haven’t read these but here we go. Here are some classic fanfics that everyone who loves has probably already read: 

1) Dirty Laundry | By: Anonymous | Completed | 85,042 words | Mature

“Two whole months of free laundry in exchange for two weeks of being my fake boyfriend. Deal?”

Keith hesitated for a moment. Was this really worth it? Hardly. Lance was an asshole, and he wasn’t sure what fake dating would entail. But, free laundry was free laundry, right?

“Alright, it’s a deal.”Or: Lance makes the mistake of telling his Mom he has a boyfriend coming home with him for Christmas. Keith makes the mistake of agreeing to be Lance’s ‘fake boyfriend’.

Notes:

 This is a must read. I think almost everyone in this fandom has read this fic at some point and honestly its worth the read.  Whenever you hear someone mention “Oh this reminds me of Dirty Laundry.” They’re talking about this fic. Its almost an unspoken requirement for people to read this honestly. 

2) The Marks We Make | By: Wittyy_name | Ongoing | 145,760 words | Mature

Lance McClain constantly dreams of the day he’ll finally meet his mysterious soulmate. They don’t say much, if anything at all, but they leave him with gorgeous paintings temporarily tattooing his skin. It’s not exactly the situation he hoped for, but when he feels the connection between them, he can’t bring himself to resent them. As much as he wishes his soulmate would just talk to him, he’s resigned himself to being patient. In the meantime, he has a loving family and good friends to help him get by.

Keith Kogane dreads the day he’ll finally meet his obnoxious soulmate. He’s just an art student who’s struggling to find his place in the world. There’s so much he hasn’t been able to control in his life, and the thought of having a soulmate, just another thing in his life which he also has no control over yet can’t do anything about, is a little terrifying. So he ignores the words that occasionally appear on his skin. He has other things to focus on: like being a new student at a big university where his childhood friend and step-brother go.

Notes: 

Honestly, almost everything that this author has made for this fandom has become popular. This one is just probably my favorite work of theirs. Once you read this definitely check out everything else Klance they’ve written and you wont regret it. 

3) What A Healing Pod Can’t Repair | By: Remember_Me | Completed | 55,777 words | Teen & Up Audiences

The compromised wormhole was ripping apart at the seams, sending everyone spiraling away in completely different directions. Lance could feel himself being pulled and bent in ways he was definitely not supposed to be.

Stitching the team back together after everyone is separated is difficult, and for one Paladin rescue wouldn’t be coming for a very long time.

Notes: 

So, this takes place after episode 11 of season 1 when everyone is kinda thrown around and let me tell you. You need to prepare yourself to read this. That’s all I shall say. 

4) of florists and tennis shoes | By: venpast | Completed | 63,783 words | Teen & Up Audiences 

'Lance wasn’t sure if he’d imagined the brief tremble at the corner of Keith’s lips or not, that slight stutter that promised a smile. But before he could guess further, Keith gave his knee a shove and got to his feet. He reached out to him, “I’m done here, and I’ve still got some daisies to sell you.”“Yeah,” Lance agreed, looking down at the extended palm, noting the little Saturn tattoo on the inside of Keith’s wrist where the sleeve hiked. He took the hand, “better not overprice those too, you asshole.”’(in which lance is a broke university student trying to impress a pretty girl with flowers, but ends up falling for the florist that sells them instead.)

Notes:

 You know, I thought this was a pretty popular fic, but then I saw that it only had 104,000 hits. If you haven’t read this. What are you doing with your life. Its such a good fic and its one that I love so very much. So please read it.

5) Water Cast | By: Fishwrites | Ongoing | 130,494 words | Mature

Shiro has been a Galra prisoner for over a year; with his flight feathers clipped and unable to fly. Desperate to escape, he jumps overboard while being transported to the capitol on a Galran ship. Lance is a merman who saves him from drowning. Keith thinks Shiro is about to become mermaid dinner. Hunk just wants Lance to

stop going to the surface all the time, dammit!

(AU where Avians (winged folk), Galra, humans and merfolk cohabit earth. Shiro and Keith are avian soldiers, Lance is the youngest son of a Queen, Hunk is also a merman and Pidge is still looking for her family. They get caught up in a war.)

Read this, you wont be sorry.

6) Follow My Lead | By: Klancekorner | Completed | 117,792 words | Mature

Becoming “hook-up buddies” with Lance Sanchez was just supposed to be a small, insignificant fraction of Keith’s life. But of course, things don’t work out that way at all.  aka a Friends w/ Benefits AU that nobody asked for where Lance wears sleeveless hoodies, plays basketball in abandoned parking lots, and follows his dreams, and Keith comes from a high class, reputable family who never let him have any dreams of his own. They go home with each other and don’t expect it to matter until it totally does.Keith POV and Lance POV

Notes: 

So, I know I said I would recommend five fics BUT, this is one that I think everyone in the fandom should read because its so good. Its well written and I love it so much, you should read this.

Got any good chapter vampire fics?

Boy do I! I have some but they’re all ongoing. So, I’m gonna apologize for that right now because I can. Also, I know that I usually recommend three fics per request, but I didn’t do that here because I really only like these two from the vampire Au. I had a few others that I did like, but they haven’t been updated in so long. Alright so here are come good chapter vampire fics: 

1) Long Lost Second Chance | By: pink_nymphia | Ongoing | 74,382 words | Mature

Lance is a vampire hunter. But one night, he meets a vampire who challenges what he knows about the monsters he hunts. Forming a relationship with Keith throws him into the gray reality that exists beneath the world’s black and white exterior.

Notes: 

I think this is a rather cute version of I guess a vampire romance type story. For some reason thought it kinda reminds me of Vampire Knight even though its not even close to being the same thing. Its cute long and I think its just enjoyable if you’re looking for something to read that isn’t too intense.

2) Scarves of Red | By: Sheksper | Ongoing | 44,607 words | Teen & Up Audiences

Lance is an overlooked and bullied high school student who can’t wait to graduate so he can start over again in a new town. Everything changes for him when he meets his new neighbour, the mysterious Keith. They slowly form a close bond, and it soon becomes apparent that there’s something off about Keith. Eventually, Lance finds out Keith’s macabre secret, unravelling the mystery behind the string of bloody local murders.

This is definitely a more serious vampire fic and I’m totally in love with it. In. Love. With. It. This is worth a read so read it.

I got lots for this! Here are a few of my favorite Galra Keith and Altean Lance fics: 

1) The Northern Crown | By: Athenias | Completed | 61,619 words | Mature

Lance and Keith were just two stupid commanders in love. Not just with each other- Keith loved the Altean soldiers like his own Galran unit, admired Lance’s father and red paladin King Alfor, and Lance loved his family and blue paladin Blaytz. But just because they’re stubborn idiots does not mean that the Galra turning on Altea was something they deserved, nor did Lance think himself deserving of Keith’s decision to side with Altea in the battle.Even now, ten thousand years past, Lance and Keith feel undeserving of the fight they have to fight in the shoes of the blue and red paladins they admired so dearly in the past.

Notes: 

I don’t remember if I put this on my top 10 fanfics list or not, but this is definitely up there. I just love the concept of this fic and it’s beautifully written and just so so so so so good.

2) With You | By: justkindaherechiling | Completed | 77,923 words | Mature 

Lance has been destined to take the Altean throne from the day he was born. He feels the weight of responsibility, but he’s ready to take on the challenge. Things get a little more complicated when his best friend Keith returns from The Academy, and is assigned to be his main bodyguard. Each boy will have to fight their true feelings, but neither could imagine what happens when one finally snaps.

Notes: 

This is another one that is honestly up there close to the top 10 because omg I just love it, so much. This fic is a rollercoaster and if you read it, you’ll see why I say that. 

3) I Swear to You | By: AlyxRae | Completed | 123,991 words | Teen & Up Audiences

With the destruction of their home planet, the remaining Galra are forced to take refuge with the kind Alteans. Much darker plans begin to take shape and a young Galra solider is made the bodyguard of the Altean Prince, with orders to kill him when the time is right. However, the charming prince manages to capture the Galra’s heart and ends up being captivated by the solider in return.The prince and the bodyguard are thrown into perilous adventures, all the while trying to stay together and keep each other safe.

Notes: 

This is another rollercoaster fic that I love so much. I love all of these fics so much and i don’t care if anyone disagrees. They’re beautiful and all deserve more hits.

Sorry it’s taken me so long to get to this ask! You asked this a few months ago when I got super busy with school. I have about 26 asks in my box right now and Im going to try and get through them all. Enough of my excuses here are a few of my favorite Married Klance fics: 

1) The Adventures of Rey and his Modern Family | By: BleuSarcelle | Series Ongoing | 11,519 words | Highest Rating: Teen & Up Audiences 

He didn’t have an epiphany or a vision during his dreams that told him that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Lance.Honestly, it only took a soft bright smile from Lance during one lazy afternoon after his boyfriend had come home from work and started dancing around their living room with a grumpy Blunette on his arms from being woken up from her cat nap.That’s when he knew.(The one where Keith wants to propose to his boyfriend and almost has a heart attack.) (Then the other one where Lance proposes back and Keith cries.) (The following one where they both cry because wedding make you cry.) (And that last one where they adopt.)

Notes: 

I read this series a while back and I love it in all honestly. Its pretty much just pure fluff, like you wanted, with their domestic life and there’s honestly nothing better than this. 

2) Story of Us: A Domestic Klance AU| By: meh12| Series Ongoing | 66,645 words | Highest Rating: Mature

Some background:

In this series, Lance and Keith are established and have been living together for a while in Florida, where Keith is an elementary school teacher and Lance is a writer. All the fics in the series will take place in the same universe (possibly jumping back and forth in time). Pidge uses female pronouns, Hunk is dating Shay, Allura and Lance are workout buddies, and Keith is a long-distance runner. Shiro and Keith are brothers. This mainly will focus on Keith and Lance’s relationship, but the other characters will be included here and there. I don’t have a set number of fics for this series, and feel free to comment with ideas if you like my writing and would like to see specific scenarios? (The only thing won’t do is write explicit content–anything of that nature is implied with context).

Also art is welcome! If you feel like drawing for it. This whole series was just a fun thing for me because I like writing and fluff is my preferred method of torture. Obviously I don’t own VLD; I wish I did but alas I am not a producer nor do I have heaps of money.

This entire series is just super cute and there’s only one fic in this series that isn’t fluff. Overall its just really good and long so it’ll take a while to read. <3

I love this fic, so very very much. It’s just super cute and fluffy (I’m a huge sucker for fluff) and just adorable and I love it.

I don't mind it, but school just started back up so this is something I'm going to be doing when I have the free time. After being saved by a mysterious man named Shiro, he learned he was now being targeted by some powerful force. So to keep him safe, Shiro assigned him a guardian angel. However, Keith did not know that he was meant for a greater purpose that could mean the salvation or destruction of the angelic realm of Altea. He also did not expect to fall in love with his cocky but lethal blue eyed angel, Lance. A collaboration with forsakenangel88.

Totally worth the read, I think this is more what you were looking for, but I’m not totally sure.

Could you recommend some of your favorite completed fics?

Here are my top three favorite completed Klance fics. All of them appear on my top 10 fic list as numbers 1, 2, & 3, but here they are for your convenience.  

1) Lion’s Chain | By: Luna_Vulpes | Completed | 256,028 words | Teen & Up Audiences 

Keith is returning from deployment overseas, officially released from duty in the military. However, his first stop back in the states isn’t the place he expected to be - the funeral of his military partner Miguel McClain. There he meets Lance, the younger brother of the fallen soldier, along with the other grieving members of the McClain family. Unsure of the next steps in his life and unable to separate his military and civilian life, Keith looks to the one place he can even consider home - the family Miguel loved and left behind.Using group therapy, meeting new people, and becoming closer with the McClain family, Keith tries to put his life back together and live past the tragedy of losing his best friend. In turn, he grows a bond with Lance and realizes that maybe Miguel was right along - the two seemed made for each other.

Notes: 

This is the number one fic in my top 10 list of Klance fics. Its a story that tackles difficult issues with Military veterans and losing someone close. Its a very well written story and I love it so much, if you haven’t read it I HIGHLY recommend you read it. 

2) Let Me Catch My Breath | By: Smiles4Voltron | Completed | 228,919 words | Mature 

So, Lance has to fight five champions of an alien race to save Keith- wouldn’t sound too hard if he wasn’t blind from an injury at that very moment. Oh, and did he mention that if he doesn’t defeat the five then Keith is given to them like some prize? Some delicious little prize that they will most likely do whatever they please with?

Left to fend for themselves, blinded and injured, two unlikely Paladins must work together to survive. Tensions get high with horrid creatures, a determined assassinator, and their growing attraction to the other.

So, both a frustrating tension and sexual one, huh? Or could you consider those the same thing?

Notes: 

This was one of my first Klance stories and it’s a fic that holds a special place in my heart and it’s easily one of my favorite stories. The plot is set in the cannon universe and its just a very ANGSTY piece. Don’t let this writers username fool you. They have a lot of angst in their stories.

Any A/B/O fics you like? I love the dynamic but I never really find a good one :(

A/B/O Has to be my favorite dynamic besides Prince Lance and Guard Keith AU’s. So, my dear friend, let me share with you my favorite A/B/O stories. I don’t know if you’re looking for A/B/O smut or not so Ill give you three smut and three nonsmut. As I was looking over my recommendations I realized most of these are Alpha Keith fics…. I’m not sorry. 

Smut:

Lance was standing where he never thought he’d be standing, in line at the front desk of the nearest Alpha Brothel.

Its smut so there’s really not much to say.

Keith hated dancing, it was never his forte, so why Shiro was forcing him to attend the usual mating ball, he didn’t know. He would never find a mate with his moves, and he didn’t mind keeping it that way. Though seeing a lovely tall tanned man make his way across the dance floor just might be enough motivation for him to try and change how he feels about dancing to attract a mate. // thank you to my friends who helped me edit this and I hope you guys enjoy my first published work//

Notes: 

This is actually probably one of my favorite A/B/O stories just because I like the concept of the whole dance for a mate thing? I don’t know I really like this story even with the small amount of smut it has. 

3) Green Light | By: warschach | Completed | 74,790 words | Not Rated (But its explicit)

Keith’s good with trouble, he’s alpha and a skilled cop in Chicago’s Alpha Unit, so when shit hits south Keith can change it to north. If bad guys run Keith ropes them in. If bullets fly Keith is usually good at not being the target. Not the same for knives but- he knows how to handle trouble. So why the fuck can’t he handle one pretty omega with a chip on his shoulder and literal water for eyes?

Notes: 

This is my favorite A/B/O and the first one that I read for the Voltron fandom. I think you’ll like this. 

Nonsmut:

Hey, I was wondering if you could rec my story 'Where the Dream Takes You'? It's a Klance Atlantis AU and I'm really proud of it. It's ongoing, (currently 5 out of 15 chapters posted) and I would appreciate if you could help me get it out there:)

I'm going to start off by apologizing because I didn't get to this sooner. I don't recommend fics that I have never read before, so I went and read your story and I am in love. I’ve never actually seen Atlantis, but you made it so that I really didn't need to.

Keith is a linguist who's spent his whole life studying Atlantis. He's read every book ever published about it, researched every artifact tied into it, even learned the damn language. If only someone would listen to him and give him the opportunity he's been waiting for. Little did he know, that opportunity was coming a lot sooner than he thought.Loosely based of the movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

Notes: 

This is one of those stories where its just easy to read and keep going. I love the way its written and how the story flows and the art work is so cute. I’ve never seen Atlantis, but you don't really have to, to read this beautiful story. I recommend this for people who want an easy read or just want a good adventure story.

Update

Hey guys, so finals are over. They finished for me yesterday, but its Hanukkah so I'm spending time right now with my friends and family. I'm moving out of my dorm tomorrow so I will be packing tonight. Yesterday I hit 500 followers and holy butts you are all so amazing. I have a lot of asks in my inbox right now that I will get to when I get home tomorrow or I’ll take care of them tonight while I procrastinate on packing. 

I also wanted to talk about something that I want to start doing. Its going to be a thing I call Honest Reviews. This is for the writers in the community to help get their works out there while also getting some honest feedback, from me, on their story. All you have to do is send me an ask in this format: Honest Review (link). This is so that I know you want an honest review of your story then once I have the story I’ll just delete the ask and write a post for you and tag your tumblr if you want. I just think this will be a good way to thank you all for your support and for 500 followers. This will be an ongoing thing that I will do for a while.

Top 5 Fanfiction Pet Peeves

So, I'm making this post because I’ve been seeing these little things happen more often within fanfiction and it’s driving me crazy because I refuse to read stories with anything on this list. The first four things on this list are not in any particular order, they just bother me, but the last item is my biggest pet peeve. 

If you have your own pet peeves that aren't on this list, I encourage you to reblog with your pet peeves or tell me what your biggest pet peeves are. 

5) Good writing with bad plot / Bad writing with good plot 

This one I can be lenient on, if I find a story where the writing isn't too bad and it has a great plot I'm gonna read it. Its really those good writer that just have terrible plots that upset me. I don't know why it is, but I just cant stand it. 

4) Formatting 

Please don't block everything together. It’s very distracting to my eyes and I lose track easily. I'm a skim reader, so I read fast and pick out the important stuff, when its in paragraphs, I cant do that and its annoying. So please don't put your entire chapter into one paragraph. 

3) “I'm not good at summaries, but I swear it’s a good story.” 

Whenever I see this, I scroll right on past the story, unless a friend reads it and recommends it, but that never happens. Your summary is a reflection of your writing and if you cant write a good summary, I'm sure your story wont be very good. I'm sorry, but that's how I see it. 

2) Show characters with a personality that doesn't fit them

I know that is terrible wording and there's a specific phrase for this, but I'm really brain dead from my lab practical today. For example, take our cinnamon roll Keef, I’ve seen fanfictions where he’s an extrovert and loves to be around people and I cry every time ((i cri erytym)). Just, at least try and if you’re gonna change his attitude or character have a reason for it. You cant have a character with a tragic backstory have the most outgoing personality every. You cant do that, like no. 

1) When people don't know the difference between Astronomy and Astrology 

((Sorry this is gonna be long I started ranting)) I know this is probably just a personal thing, but it’s something I see more often than you would think in the Voltron fanfiction community. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE IF YOU ARE DOING A COLLEGE AU ASTROLOGY ISNT AN ACTUAL DEGREE ITS SOMETHING CALLED PSUDOSCIENCE. I know people are going to be triggered by me saying astrology is pseudoscience, but it is. I will preach this to the gods ASTROLOGY IS NOT THE SAME AS ASTRONOMY. There is no factual evidence to support ANYTHING within astrology. There’s a HUGE difference between astrology and astronomy.

So, please please please for the love of god never say you have a character studying astrology, as an astronomy and astrophysics major in college, I die on the inside a little every time.
