I'm gonna be honest, I despise Lance from Nexo Knights.

He's just a selfish asshole, and he barely ever gets any character development, and when he does, it still doesn't do much.

I finally made proper refs for one of my Squire-bot oc's

For funsies, the backstory and other info:

Sonya Radar was a squire-bot built right before squire-bots were mass-produced for Knighton. She worked with her creator (who is currently unnamed, and probably dead in present) by helping to build the factory and run the insides as one of the head bot-makers. Unfortunately, she ended up in an accident that crushed half her head in, making everyone presume she died then and there. They tossed her body into the furnace to recycle her metal...but she was in fact alive, maybe not well but very much still alive. She managed to escape before she melted, not remembering anything. After a few years of slowly going insane and consuming media she really shouldn't be consuming, she became Sonia Conspiracy: the weird crazy lady who lives by herself running a podcast about the insane conspiracies she comes up with about the citizens of Knighton (like the earth is round, squire-bots are human souls, the apocalypse is coming, etc).

other:

-She is around 2in/5.08cm taller than the average squire-bot

-She somehow has photos of pretty much everyone deemed suspicious, especially people like Jousting Beiber and Shou, don't ask how she got them, she doesn't know either

-She has an irrational fear of beavers

-Sonia doesn't like human food in the slightest, gunks up her oil tank

-Calls everyone with brown/black, bob haircuts Gabe for some reason

-that red in her eye is not a cosmetic, its glitched, she has the robot equivlent of needing reading glasses but refuses because the government or something

New Squirebot OC!!

Their short background:

Iris worked as a waitress in very expensive restaurant. Iris was under pressure from her superiors and visitors treated her badly, as well as all squirebots working there (the service sector is a terrible thing, and squirebots for some people were ordinary labor, no more.)

One day, the boss was outraged by the length of Iris's hair and in a fit of rage cut it off. Late in the evening she was returning home, and a group of drunk and bad men attacked Iris, thinking that it was an "alive" girl. Realizing that it was just a robot, they decided to take revenge on her for "spoiling their fun."

Iris was saved: a squirebot from the Merry Mechs band found them. JohnBot tried to restore her sight, but her eye contacts were in such a terrible state that they could not be repaired.

And even after everything that happened to them, Red Iris still believes that not all people are bad.

But, why? Why would he fake his death? There isn't any reason to do so, no one really bothers him when he's in his library, and like I said, several opportunities were given for him to take over the kingdom that would've been more easier than to fake his own death, he is powerful enough to do so. The twist still won't, idk, be satisfying also. It would feel like Hans from Frozen since there wasn't really any evidence of this sort of betrayal, just sudden instead of any good build-up. We only get to see how Merlok cares for this kingdom, the only thing that is really "malicious" is his first line and the fact he hid his heritage, but those have reasons! Though I'm actually curious, what kind of secret master plan do you think he's trying to accomplish?

We can agree is disagree with the worst episode, but in my opinion, spy episode is the worst because it felt the MOST out of place compared to everything else, literally happening right after Clay gets back from being a cowboy. This was all just a set up to reveal Monstrox's master plan, so its a crucial episode, but everything about it was...ehhhhh. I felt the lebowski one more forgettable then actually clashing with the show, buts that just my take on it!

Other words: other books, Remember, I stated he would have touched every other book before, those traits would've been prevalent whether he touched the book of deception first or not. And besides...The Book of Deception is one of the only books that DOESN'T affect the user, but area surrounding it. That is what is given in the show, there isn't evidence that it made everyone else deceptive, no no, just the terrain. You could use that boulder girl and the deceptive woman as evidence, but their existence seems to only stem from the book, I'm fairly certain they just, died as soon as the book got touched. The book's depiction of deception is physically, and not mentally, so he wouldn't suddenly gain the skills of deception from the book. He may use it to cover himself from obvious evil marks, but then again, since its only phsycally he would've been OBVIOUSLY insane if he was corrupted, thats how Monstrox's magic works. So being corrupted, off the table.

The long run is good in theory if it makes sense. Like i said for Merlok, it just doesn't work for him. He had the perfect opportunity like, 50 years after Monstrox was defeated or as soon as he found Clay. Incredibly close to the king, No more wizards, no knights with adequate skills other than the queen, brickland and griffiths, and even then he is hella CLOSE to them, BELOVED by the kingdom. It was perfect, and you're telling me the baffoon is still waiting? What is he waiting for, an orchestra for his reign? Every other villain has reason of why they were waiting, Merlok doesn't have any! At least not for a wait of that long- And what purpose is his clone for? To waste more time instead of, ya know, taking over the kingdom already?

You have a lot of "what if's" in this equation than "what IS". What he is, is a silly wizard man who helped the knights and cares about Knighton deeply. Doing a sudden 180 after like, 6 season (or around 3 years in canon, not sure) and saying "oh hey, this wizard that has been fighting by your side in all your life is actually hella evil" is dumb, even for a Show like NEXO KNIGHTS, the show where they chose Aaron instead of Macy for leader, had this whole plot with superspy which is arguable the worst episode in the entire show, and had a set up villain arc where they didn't use it to its FULL POTENTIAL. RAAAAAAH

Monstrox's magic makes them go kooky. Everyone who was cursed was BOLD with their betrayal, Ruina was literally smiting people on the fly and had obvious "evil" marks to prove she was, in fact, evil. Don't know about the other wizards in the council, but I'm sure they met a similar fate and went bananas with evil insanity. If anything, there would be at least some sort of evidence he's gone bad with evil marks or evil dark color scheme or something. If he was affected differently and became "secretive" with his villainy, then that doesn't make a lot of sense, doesn't it? The books affect everyone in dramatic ways, touching the book of cruelty makes you cruel, touching the book of envy makes you envious. These traits would be prevalent in Merlok, and if he was studying them, he would have had to touch ALL these books at least once, so he WOULD'VE shown the traits! Besides, after seeing literally every member of your council fall to the same fate, I'm pretty sure Merlok had precautions to protect him from being infected. He has SOME sense, give my man's credit. Merlok is also literally the nicest dude in the kingdom, he gives good advice to his pupils and he is VERY SUPPORTIVE. There was not a hint of ulterior motive in him, if there was, he had like, 100 different chances over the course of over 500 years since he was so close to the king. He had so many opportunities to take over EVEN BEFORE Monstrox's reign of terror, if he was smart pretending to be dumb he would've taken the chance waaaay before the events of Nexo Knights. "The long game" is good to build support so no one knows you're gonna betray them, waiting around 500 years to do so though? Seriously? Even that's too long. Other media's had setbacks for why the big bad took so long to take root, like imprisonment or the plans not set. Merlok? He had all the stones right there. His sister, gone, no other wizards to hold him back. Knights? he could easily defeat them, you've seem him beat the knights butts with only illusions and cast a spell to launch the grey knight across the kingdom and give him amnesia. The queen may be the tricky bit, but then again, he could've easily executed her first before dealing with egg....way before the knights became, well, knights Merlok was the support beam for the Nexo Knights, he gave them powers that would defeat Monstrox and gave them tips and advice that helps them save the day. This man has killed himself like, 4 times for the good of the kingdom because he CARES about the kingdom. Dying (Or a "copy" dying) that many times just to keep the status of being good that LITERALLY cannot go any higher is stupid. He was loved, he was supported, he was literally the most beloved person in the kingdom of Knighton for who knows how long. He was a genuinely caring person, that's how you know Clay and Merlok are related in some way. Being the villain will never be on his bingo card and I will stand by it...unless it is an au of course, but canonically, no

He kept the books of evil because he was trying to find a cure for his sister, the one CORRUPTED by Monstrox. He was trying to review his magic to see if there is a way to reverse the effects and Make Ruina Wanda again. You'll do some stupid shit to get your family back, that trope has been in media for generations, Merlok is just a part of it. The out-in-the-open aspect is because HE IS STUPID. He basically had the thought, "well, this is a strong, techy magic barrier! Monstrox doesn't have limbs and many people have a paranoia against monsters and magic, I keep this place well secured, surely he will won't escape, nooo." He is a Stupid mid-evil wizard who didn't think Monstrox would gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss the mentally unwell royal jester 😤

There may BE a bigger bad than Monstrox (maybe revealed later IF NEXO KNIGHTS WAS STILL ALIVE), but it was certainly NOT Merlok, otherwise he would've rigged something by now so THERE-

He was PARANOID, being paranoid makes you do and think some stupid shit. In his mind since Wanda, Clay's mom, has been corrupted by Monstrox, he must've thought that there was a chance that the corruption may have been passed down to Clay too. He was worried that if Clay used magic, Monstrox's curse would infect him, making him evil. He was paranoid about the whole situation, that's why he never told him. He had to be precautious cause he wasn't 100% sure that the curse wasn't passed down...The last thing he wants is to turn his only (at the moment only, from what's seen in the show I don't think he knows Wanda had two children) remaining relative to stone as well if his thinking holds true.

Not defending his actions, like I said, his decision-making is still stupid at times, but I'm merely explaining them. He's dumb, he's goofy, he's also very mysterious in a creepy way, but that's how he is. He didn't mean any harm with that unsettling "today's the day Clay Moorington" thing, his nephew is graduating, aka everything that Clay has worked up to, that's the day. It may be also the day that he is willing to finally tell him his heritage before Monstrox ruined everything, but that part is and will never be confirmed canon since, ya know, shows canceled, so don't hold some truth on it.

He may be the kingdom's "wise old wizard," but that doesn't mean he knows everything.
