Sometimes I like to combine the ideas of HASO (Humans Are Space Orcs) with “Jestro Left With His Monster Army After Season 2”

Because Jestro’s the only human in the group, General Magmar tends to worry about him a bit and is making sure that the human can keep up, but when he turns around, Jestro is all the way up a tree because he smelled petrichor in the air, got confused because there’s no sign of any previous rain, and is trying to get above the trees to look for approaching storm clouds.

Oh, yeah, humans can smell rain. You didn’t know that? Neither did the monster army.

Also little headcanon that fire and lava monsters are naturally afraid of water, even those who have a fleshy exterior to protect their fiery insides. Jestro? Oh, he’s actually outside right now, just standing in the rain. What’s he doing exactly? No one knows, but he’s happy and he’s not in danger so they’re chill.

Also swimming. They can swim in lava, but Jestro swims in water. I sometimes picture him just floating on his back calmly with his eyes closed and one of the monsters freaks out cause they thought he was dead.

Humans are a bit more social than monsters, and thanks to this, Jestro picks up on cues like emotional state that the monsters might not even realize they’re exhibiting.

This one. Morbid fascination and excitement in danger. Yes, Jestro has showed this in the show — at least, that’s my interpretation. Have you ever felt that way? That mixture of fear and admiration? Finding beauty in chaos? If you haven’t, you have no idea what you’re missing out on. It’s exhilarating.

I can see Jestro watching a wolf pack just walk by, both grateful they didn’t come closer but also wishing he could’ve pet them. Or he stops to look at a random dead animal and goes “What do you think killed it?” while the others just stare because wtf, this doesn’t seem like Jestro at all.

Also, adrenaline. Imagine if monsters didn’t have that. For whatever reason, they just don’t. To them, Jestro would appear like he’s just been possessed by some powerful being immune to pain or fear in moments of emergency, when the drug our body naturally produces is pumping through his veins and fueling him to lengths that would be otherwise impossible for humans to achieve.

Rewatched Nexo Knights (careful, you’ll get obsessed over it) and I’m wondering to myself… Does Jestro eat? I mean, he seems to eat at villages before attacking them, but what about between that? What about his first night out there? Did he just eat nothing?

I’m sure Jestro has gotten pretty damn skinny under those clothes. I keep seeing General Magmar picking him up and being like “Hold up, I’m no doctor, but adult humans aren’t this light. Or skinny. Is that your rib cage I feel? Why is it so close to the surface of your flesh??”

I've been playing the original Pokemon Green lately and it's made me think about the Pokemon world when there was only 151 Pokemon, and about what kind of trainer stories you could tell sticking to just the first generation...

So we have a ceramicist, whose Magmar ("Raku") helps with firing and whose Grimer ("Slip") concocts the wildest glazes; A boulderer with a Graveler for practice, a Tangela for spotting, and a Chansey for a nice egg when they reach the summit; and a jeweller whose work is inspired by the bewejelled Pokemon she's been raising since she was a child.

Generation 1 roundup stats!

Hello everyone, and thanks for showing up in such grand numbers! The original 151 Pokémon have all been polled, and here is a summary of the results!

The poll with the largest percentage was Geodude and Graveler, who were declared Rough by 97.2%!

Conversely, the poll with the smallest percentage that won was the infamously split Magmar poll, resulting in Smooth at 17.7%!

There were three ties (where the top two results had less than a 2% difference): Seel (Fluffy (Soft) & Smooth), Nidoran♀ and Nidorina (Leathery/Skin & Rough).

Of all the options, Smooth won the most often, with a total of 40 hits and both Tacky/Sticky and Rubbery only appearing once each, in Gloom and Tangela respectively.

The full tally of numbers are below the cut (counting ties) and I hope to see everyone again when we start the Gen 2 polls soon!
