Looking for all Crocheter’s/Knitter’s and Yarn workers
I’m looking for some help finding something.
Specifically I’m trying to look for a very particular type of crochet needle. I don’t know a lot about it, but I’m hoping I know enough so that people can ask questions that I can relay and maybe we can find it?
Things I know for sure:
The hooks were my grandmothers.
so they might be quite old, we’re not sure, she doesn’t really talk about her past and she can’t really see so she no longer crochets
She brought them with her when she came from Croatia to America.
So they might be region specific, but we’re not sure.
They didn’t have the hand-grip-hold part.
You know that flat part of the crochet needle that lets you hold onto the hook? Yeah, the crochet hooks she had didn’t have that. They were just round.
They were metal.
Things we’re not really sure about but might be valuable information:
My mom thinks they came in a set of five.
My mother thinks she remembers watching my grandmother use all five crochet needles at once to make socks; like all five were in a circle and she was crocheting with them. (She also says that if also looked like knitting when it was done) I don’t know how this would work and I can’t find anything online to support this, but I’m running with it.
(This could also be a regional thing from Croatia that my grandmother brought with her)
I don’t think they’re Tunisian crochet needles, although it’s still a possibility. (Mostly I haven’t found any that fit the specs)
I know it’s not a lot, and I apologize for that. I’m going to try and get more information, but I’m really just hoping that this can reach some people who might be able to help me, because I feel like I’ve hit a dead end.
Even if you don’t know I’d appreciate a reblog, so it might reach someone who does know?
I’m kinda going out on a limb here, hoping that this’ll gain some traction and that I’ll get an answer.
Thank you for reading, I appreciate that you even made it this far, and I’ll try to update with more information :)
