aayyyee thatâs all I have for on-time things. Iâll finish them later when I feel like it and when I have time. My products will be much more valuable when they arenât forced. I also need to work on time management. But itâs been a privilege working with @tfloosh and expect me to be checking out other peopleâs Zelink work over time when I feel like reading some great fics and looking at fantastic art
Fire
âYou have terrorized our land for the last time!â
Fire of all colors swirled around a lone knight, the only man brave enough to face the Beast of the South. He dodged attack after attack, looking for even the smallest weak point to penetrate the armored hull of the dragonâs skin. Finally, a flash of metal found its mark in the neck of the beast, but the move left the knight defenseless for a mere second, a moment too much. The dragon knocked the hero backwards, flinging him further into the darker side of the cavern. With its last breath, blood rushing from its wound, ivory teeth lunged at the stunned knight and pierced him straight through. The life of the beast finally drained, and in its maw grasped the dying hero, struggling to break free. Blood ran from his lips as he cried to the heavens for help, but none came.
The princess woke with a jolt, tears filling her eyes as the sight of her dreams failed to leave her mind. She huddled further in her sheets, weeping softly like every other night the same dream appeared.
âYou took him from me,â she murmured through sobs. Her affections for the young knight not only paved a happy future for the both of them and the Kingdom of Hyrule, but it also thwarted any other suitors from stealing her hand in marriage, many of which she detested even though the Royal Council and her father saw them as fit to be king.
Eventually, a blackened sleep pulled her back under and she didnât wake until dawn. The morning sky held a mysterious air, one filled with a strange, static sort of energy that threatened to rain lightening upon the ground, but no such thunderclouds were in sight. The princess pulled on a robe and headed straight for her parentsâ room.
âFather! Mother! Something feels wrong to me,â she urged.
The king groggily sat up in bed, running a hand through his graying hair. âZelda, darling, you have been acting strangely ever since that young man went out to rid our land of that hazard, and he was successful! Why are you not celebrating about it like the rest of us? We are lucky this castle still stands after its pillaging.â
She frowned, fighting back tears, âPapa you know why! He has not returned. My dreams⊠I sawââ
âI know, I know, I am sorry. But think of it this way, no one can prove of his death. His sword was recovered next to the corpse of a dragon with no human remains to be found. He will return home, soon, I am sure of it. An injured beast can lick its wounds and return twice as strong.â
âI has been months! I had these visions before he left and begged him not to be the one to take on the trialâŠâ
âZelda,â her mother interjected, sitting up as well. âI know you are saddened by his departure, and if you believe that these dreams are prophetic and truth, then maybe you should consider moving on. Dead or not, if he decides to never return, then he may have found a calling elsewhere. There are many great men in our midst fit to rule⊠fit for you.â
Shocked at her words, Zelda left immediately, too angry to continue the conversation. Her mother called after Zelda in an apologetic tone, but did not run after her. The constant, nagging feeling hung over her head as she tried to piece together what was new. Maybe today is the day he will return to me, she thought. No, this feelsâŠ
But there was no sort of word that could describe what she felt looming in the shadows. It was not malice, but it certainly wasnât happiness. Something indeed, was to take place soon, but there was no telling what.
Zelda went on about her morning with little emotion and vigor, her thoughts filled with realization that her parents would soon start planning for her to meet eligible men amongst the noble families. All of the ones her age disappointed her with their dull personalities and interests mostly lying in the riches that surrounded them. Would she ever be so lucky as to meet another knight that her parents actually approved of?
The afternoon approached and the thickness of the air became so unbearable that Zelda decided to confront her parents once more.
âMother, Father,â she said, entering their study, âsomething still feelsâŠâ
âSir!â
Zelda turned her attention to a panicked guard in the doorway.
âSir we have to prepare⊠t-there is another⊠or that means he failed to kill it.â
The king stood up from his desk. âPrepare for what? Clarify your meaning.â
The guard swallowed. âThe dragon. It was never killed. Or there is more than one. I have no idea but itâs on its way here and we have to do something immediately!â
Blood drained from Zeldaâs face as her father charged past her, barking orders at everyone he passed. Grabbing Zeldaâs hand, her mother pulled her out of the room. âGo! You have to leave this castle, this town! If the beast knocks down these walls, I will not have you caught in the rubble. Find two guards, a horse, and go. Your father and I will send for you when itâs safe.â
âMother, I cannot leave you both behind!â the princess huffed, tears filling her eyes.
The queen hugged her. âYou must, my flower. I promise we will find you. I need to stay at your fatherâs side.â
âI love you, mum.â
âAnd I, you. Now go!â
Zelda dashed through the halls, dodging past scrambling Hylians as she grabbed two guards to accompany her. The trio raced to the stalls and were out of Castletown before the rest of the town caught wind of what was to come. A wave of guilt washed over the young woman as she realized she head a head start to flee while her people remained subject to the winged death. They had already lost so muchâŠ
The air almost hummed with the feeling she had felt before, a constant buzz of unease in her already adrenaline-pumped body. âWe should stick to the trees!â One of the guards shouted over the rush of wind and thud of horse hooves. âWe will be more protected.â As they veered into the direction of a nearby wood, something fluttered over the sun, just briefly, but enough to draw Zeldaâs eye to the skies, though she saw nothing. Her anxiety let up just a little as their path became lined with trees.
How could he have failed? I saw him succeed in my vision, and we have seen no sign of danger for a long time, she thought.
Unfortunately, her doubts were answered with a thunderous crack as a few large pines from behind caught ablaze due to some sort of fire blast.
âOnward! We must get the princess to safety!â
The trio pushed forward, but were soon scattered as a dark shadow cast more fires upon the forest. Zeldaâs mind went from plotting and cautious to mere instinct in a matter of moments as she rode for her life, her snowy palace horse whinnying with fright and desperation. Whatever logic was left in her ran a terrifying realization through her mind. The fires were placed in seemingly strategic ways, enough to keep her moving apart from her guards without harm.
It only wants meâŠ
Finally, her plight came to an end as one more blast to the front sent her horse to rear in a panicked halt. She crashed to the ground, heart falling as a blur of white left her behind. A great shape closed the gap between her and the only exit. Zelda waited, shielding her eyes from the face of the beast in utter fear and defeat.
With not a moment to waste, she was swept off the ground by enormous hands, thrashing and screaming at the land below that grew smaller. The flight seemed to last a lifetime before she was plopped on the ground, shaking with fear and exhaustion; her throat felt as if it were bleeding. The air was thin and warm, the ground rough and hard. Zelda came to the conclusion that Death Mountain was nearby, and no one would be coming to rescue her anytime soon.
Zelda rolled onto her side, a tear dripping into the dust. âWell go on then. Do it.â
Her eyes locked with the beast and she was lost in a sea of otherworldliness. Confused by its appearance, she did not expect it to have bright, sapphire eyes, contrasted to the crimson ones in her dreams. The emerald armor glinted in the setting sun, and she was transfixed by something composed of pride and grace, not malice and bloodlust. Flashes of her visions came back to her.
âDin, Nayru, Farore, someone hear m-my plea! Bring me home to my lady in whatever way possible. My⊠my country still needs meâŠâ
The voice of her dying hero rang through the canyon as Zelda shakily got to her feet.
âShe still needs meâŠâ
Arms open, she lunged forward and clung to the bowed head of the dragon, weeping softly. âI knew you would return to me, Link.â
â
A/N: Literally the last one I have finished. Expect me to finish the rest of the prompts at a later date as well as release some other finished one-shots soon. I was too preoccupied with playing Overwatch with my sister over Christmas break that I just didnât take the time to do all of them and school is so insane sometimes that I need to focus on that the most. Hope you enjoyed!

Breath of the Wild
A soft snoring rumbled through the air of a beautiful autumn afternoon. A lone Hylian snoozed away his afternoon, a much needed sleep from his weeks of adventuring, trying to find his purpose for his own awakening. He knew his destiny was of importance, but he had yet to find someone to direct him on the right path, someone with the knowledge of what was really happening in this mysterious time.
His new friend lie next to him, providing a soft backrest and keeping an ear out for danger. Suddenly, something caught the beastâs attention as he jolted upright.
âHey!â Link protested, his head slamming to the ground under the wolfâs belly. âWhat was that for?â
The wolf stood stalk still, his nose twitching against the breeze.
âWhat is it?â Link wondered, quietly getting to his knees, peering in the same direction as his companion.
Suddenly, the wolf firmly grasped Linkâs hand in his jaws, pulling him to his feet and urging him forward
âOw! Hey!â
Letting go of the young man, the beast trotted forward, signaling for Link to follow in his own language. Obeying, Link wandered after him, their pace increasing until Link was at a full jog. âWhere are we going?â he called.
The wolf didnât look back, picking up the pace slightly. They ran and ran, scattering woodland creatures this way and that, showering colorful leaves that were strewn about. Dapples of sunlight whirled past Linkâs vision, challenging him to run like he has never run before. Hurdling branches and dodging tree trunks, Link finally tripped over his friend whom had halted at the edge of a clearing.
âOhmf! Now what!?â He looked up, quieting himself when he saw the expression on the beastâs face; Link could have sworn he saw swirls of excitement and longing in his eyes. Carefully, Link pulled himself to his feet, looking once more to where the wolf was staring. A lone figure stood in the meadow, wandering about as if she had nowhere to be. Long, golden locks flowed to her hips, cascading over a tunic similar to Linkâs, at least in color. âHello?â Link called, startling her.
The girl turned around slowly, her posture shrinking a little in fright. âW-who are you?â
âMight I ask the same? I promise, we are not harmful. My friend brought me to you, for whatever reason.â Link slowly strode forward, the wolf trailing behind at a safe distance. As he neared her, he saw a trail of dried blood on her face, a result of a nasty, gash on her forehead, a mere flaw almost unnoticeable compared to her striking beauty. âAre you alright?â
âI think so. Itâs just a scratch.â
Linkâs feet stopped themselves a few arm lengths away, but he was unsure what to say. Something in her lovely timbre struck a chord in him. He muttered, âYour voice⊠it sounds like youâre someone I should know.â
âDo you plan to tell me who you are, then?â she challenged, moving her arm to her sheathed sword on her hip, remembering she could very well be in danger.
âMy name is Link. I honestly cannot tell you how I got here or why. I was⊠asleep for a while. All I know is that Hyrule needs my help and I am looking for the person who can point me in the right direction,â he explained. âAnd this is my friend.â He turned to motion to the wolf, a few steps further back.
âDoes he have a name?â she pondered, more curious in the beast than Linkâs uncertain explanation.
âI⊠I donât know. I thought of calling him something, but his nature is much more than just a mere beast. I feel like I donât have a right to name him.â
The girl tilted her head in curiousity, peering at the wolf as if she saw something familiar.
Link asked, âWhat is yours?â
âI⊠I donât remember. All I remember is waking up here with this cut on my head yesterday, and then you showed up.â She sized Link up, seemingly wracking her brain for information.
Meanwhile, the hero felt a slight blush rush to his cheeks from her observations. âW-would you like to travel with us until you regain your memory? It might be safer.â
She considered the option, but shook her head, realizing wandering off with complete strangers, one being a carnivorous animal, maybe wasnât the best idea. âI think I have enough supplies to make it on my own, thank you.â
Linkâs heart fell, but he only nodded, understanding her hesitation.
âTake care!â she announced, grabbing a pack from the wildflowers and jogging off.
The wolf whined, glaring at Link for letting her get away.
âWhat?â
-----
The pair set up camp later that evening, roasting some caught fish over the fire. Linkâs companion sat and watched for any trouble, and soon, they were letting the blaze die to a simmer, enough warmth to sleep near without hazard.
Dozing off, Link began to hear a strange voice in the midst of his dreams.
Find her again. She holds the answers you seek. She is the one called Zelda, the one you need, the one that well help your set this land right again. Go, take care of her, bring her with you into the redemption of Hyrule.
In the midst of a foggy clearing, stood the image of a lone silhouette, clad in green with a sword and shield slung across his back, an old warrior of sorts. Deep, sapphire eyes pierced through the fog, carrying a familiar, feral look of power and knowing.
Bring her home again.
Link jolted awake, sitting up only to meet his friend looming over him, waiting for him to awake. The same eyes from his dream bore into him, but before Link could put the connection into words, the wolf huffed in urgency, snout jerking to a rustling in the trees.
The girl came tumbling through the brush, her frustrated expression visible in the dim firelight. She looked even more battered than before, covered in dust and leaves. Frantically, she turned to leave again when she saw Link, but halted when he spoke.
âZelda?â
âHow do you... is that it? Is that my name?â she asked, almost to herself. âI thought you didnât remember who I was? Is this some kind of trick?â She spun around, confused and flustered, seemingly ready to run at any moment.
Link stood slowly, raising his arms in surrender. âPlease, donât be afraid of me. Weâre both confused and Iâm only trying to figure out whatâs going on. You can trust me, I promise. You donât remember your name, and Zelda is one of the only names Iâve learned since I arrived here. I was told Zelda would be the one to help me, and that I should look after her in return.â
âI think you have the wrong girl, Link,â she growled, turning to leave but yelped when Linkâs wolf stood behind her, blocking her exit.
Link wanted to step forward in protest, assuming his friendâs actions would only scare her more, but she stayed, calming down almost immediately.
Slowly, the girl knelt down, transfixed by the beastâs gaze. âYou remind me of someone, but I donât remember who,â she said, reaching out to pat him on the head. The wolf stepped forward to let her embrace him, nuzzling her in an affection Link had not seen from his companion before.
âWe will help you regain your memory, or at least try. And whether or not you are Zelda, we can find out together,â Link proposed.
The girl chuckled at the wolfâs playful interaction, turning to look at Link in her peripherals. âIf I stay and begin to feel threatened by either of you in any way, Iâm gone. But I will stay until that happens. Deal?â
âDeal.â Link smiled, a mixture of relief and anxiety stabbing at his gut. Was this the owner of the voice that called him awake? Was this Zelda, the woman the gods or whoever was encouraging his journey seemed to be guiding him to? Would she be gone by morning? And why was she so pretty? he thought, scratching his arm nervously.
The pair set up their bedrolls across from each other, neither able to fall asleep. Understandably, the girl clutched a knife in one hand, ready to spring at any moment. Meanwhile, Link stared up at the billions of stars strewn across the night sky, wondering what the next day would bring, playing the voice of his dreams over and over again.

Discourse
âHow do you propose we make this work!?â Link huffed, getting impatient with Zeldaâs new excuses.
âI cannot give you an answer to that and you know why!â she cried, crossing her arms and shifting her weight from one foot to the next.
âIâm starting to think youâre having second thoughts about us.â
Zelda fell silent, her face scrunching in a look of pain and anger. âHow could you say that to me? After everything we have been throughâŠâ
âAnd you only remember part of it.â
âSo this is my fault? What does that have to do with our situation right now?â
âNo⊠itâs just I feel like I have waited a lot longer to finally be with you, and now itâs more impossible than ever!â Link slammed a fist on the bench, scaring a bird away.
Zelda continued to stare down at him, her ears feeling as hot as the midday sun.
âWhy is it that your father, the ONLY one who believed us and helped stopped the Seven Year War from happening altogether, doesnât like me enough to allow us to marry? Weâve been best friends for years. I canât court you in secret any longer⊠You said it yourself. Soon youâll have to start meeting other noblemen in town, and then what am I?â
âLink I do not love you any less than I have since I discovered my feelings for you. I would do anything to be with you!â
His frown deepened. âExcept go against your fatherâs wishes? Or run away with me?â
Disgusted, she hissed, âAre you joking? You knew what you were getting yourself into by loving me. I am the only heir to this throne. Leaving would send my people into a disarray and cause an upset full of distrust towards the royal family. There is no one to replace me. Believe me when I say I am doing everything I can.â She started to cry, unable to fight through her frustration.
Link sighed, realizing his words were becoming very selfish. âI know, I know.â He stood to hug her as she curled up under his chin, staring off into the garden greens. âBut if your father wonât give us his blessing because I am not of noble birth and you have a year left to find a husband, what am I to do?â
They stood in pained silence for a while, realizing what everything was coming down to.
Link finally broke the quiet, saying, âI just want you to be happy, and I know betraying your kingdom and your father for me would ruin you.â
âBut I am happiest with you!â she protested, pulling away to look him in the eye.
âYou were meant for bigger and better things than me, Zelda. Maybe this just isnât right.â
Her heart began to shatter, waiting for him to say the final word, but all he did was reach down to kiss her one last time, his tears mingling with hers.
Zelda covered her sobs in her gloved hands, listening to his footsteps fade.
The couple saw each other few and far between over the next few months, having a tough time finding words to express their remaining attachment to one another. Eventually their relationship became more professional as Link found some ties with the Hyrulian army, determined to serve his country in whatever way he could, but as soon as Zelda began to court a nice man from the upper class, his face became an even rarer sight in the castle.
The once inseparable duo grew apart, trying to establish their own lives without each other, yet always wondering what could have been.
----------------------------------------------------------------
A/N: JUST KIDDING I DID FINISH THE THING ON TIME. I just made a short one for once.
I know, I know. Iâm sorry this one is frustrating. I love the notion of true love (and believe in it) and the idea that the true, original Link and Zelda are reincarnated to find each other in each life and find a way to be together in one way or another, but I wrote this one wanting a fight between them, to see what it would be like for them to simply not work out for once, and who better than to pick on but OoT Zelink, the ones basically confirmed (in a way) (maybe idk) to not have made it in the end.
Donât worry, if I ever get to the OoT story Iâd like to write someday, I found a way to work around the pairing with still being able to make TP Zelink cannon without some weird, distant incest thing. The Heroâs Shade just had to throw a wrench in everything didnât he?
Also one last tangent on true love. I believe it exists and that there is someone out there for everyone who was meant to be married (based on vocation and Godâs plan. Donât worry I wonât go off into a religious rant, itâs just what I believe). I have a hard time with divorce (to me should be last, desperate resort) but I know sometimes itâs necessary and what about death? I also believe some people were meant to love more than one person in their life through marriage (NOT cheating.)
Jeez my note is almost as long as the story. Anyway, I promise no more break ups during ZELINK week of all things. Am I disqualified since they technically arenât a couple at the end of this? :0 oops

The Beat of Your Heart
A/N: Iâve been super lazy and Overwatch has not helped me write any faster, so if I miss any prompts Iâll try to make them up later. Hope everyone is having a good start to Zelink week! Here is prompt #1
-----
A midnight wind tousled the hair of a numbed princess, sole ruler and solemn guardian of a blackened land. The War of Darkness has come and gone, leaving only whispers of Twilight behind, but a new, unpredicted war has come. Neighboring kingdoms outside of Hyrule have severed all trade agreements due to the previous war, frighted of the black shroud that consumed Zeldaâs land, and tensions of sorting out fairer trading system to aid Hyruleâs recovery rose. On top of that, a merciless drought brought upon famine, driving back support from the Zora, Goron, and Ordonian villages as they struggled to keep their own alive. Lack of supplies from Hyrule led to more blames placed on Princess Zeldaâs head until full-on war broke out.
But amidst the pain and unforgiving misfortune, there was one bond that Zelda clung to for dear life, never to be broken.
A tight, angry feeling scratched at the pit of Zeldaâs stomach, but she refused to feed herself anything extra. No need for comfort any longer. Her slender legs dangled between the rails of her balcony, welcoming the chilling breeze that tried to bite her through her nightgown. Silver and kind, the thin slate of the moon cast a gentle light, bouncing off of her fair skin until she glowed like a blessed star upon the earth. However, no one was around to admire the sight that only the moon could see.
Her thoughts, as always when alone, were preoccupied with one soul that walked among the bravest of men. The news had been received at dawn that the generalâs main faction had been struck down.
âAre you telling me they are all dead?â Zelda asked, calmer than she had expected from herself.
âPotentially⊠A large amount of bodies have been recovered, and with the fire that swept our camp, there is no telling how many more are left to piece together when we get a chance. A lot of our best men were stationed there. We have made the decision to fall back to just outside of Castletown to protect what we have left,â a scout reported. âWe suspect they are plotting to raid town sometime tomorrow and are currently evacuating the citizens who are willing to follow a party to Kakariko. If you come with me I can--â
âNo. I will stay here. Go, do the rest of your duties.â
âYes maâam.â
Zelda hesitated, but urged before the scout left, âYou have no word on the location of the general.â
He swallowed. âNo Your Highness, Iâm afraid his tent was on the side of camp that was ambushed first. A lot of that was completely destroyed. If anything he was asleep and didnât feel any--â
âLeave, please. Go back to your men,â she hissed.
Biting his tongue, the scout scurried away.
A soft rain shimmered the night air, but Zelda remained numb to its effects. Her thoughts wandered from the raid on her soldiers to the potential death that awaited her in the coming day. Her kingdom was shattering, her people were starving, and the last thing she had was to either surrender once more to save what she had left, or stand tall against the blade of whoever decided to end her and take her place. The royal bloodline would diminish, and Hyrule would be no more.
âYouâre going to catch a cold out here.â
Zeldaâs heart stopped. Too afraid to turn around and be disappointed in her mind playing games, she waited.
âZelda?â
Breaking the spell, she stood and spun around, teary-eyed and unsure what to believe. She met the gaze of a battered man, covered in burnt, filthy, bloody clothing and unintentionally reaching for the sword slung across his back. A wild, dazed expression in his face struggled to make out the emotions of relief and happiness he began to feel through the pain.
âLink?â she sputtered, unsure if the rain or her tears clouded her vision. She ran to him, hooking her arms around his neck and sobbing shamelessly into his ear. âI heard the news of the ambush and assumed the worst,â she said after collecting a few words through her hysteria.
âIt wasnât good, Zel. I narrowly escaped and by the time I would have made it back to my men, they had already bailed from camp and regrouped somewhere outside of Castle Town. I finally made it back to them this evening but didnât stay. I told them I would be back at dawn and if not, assume Iâm not to return. I had to see you, make sure you were still hereâŠâ he trailed off, trailing his fingers down her neck and observing every feature of her face as if she were a ghost.
âI am here, waiting for whatever is to come tomorrow. This may be the end of my rule, Link. I can feel it. Hyrule is falling apart. If I was not the sole holder of our bloodline left I would be out on the lines next to youâŠâ
âNonsense. I would never allow that. My princess is not allowed on the battlefield while Iâm still aliveâ he grumbled, somehow ignoring the more important half of her statement.
She smiled and puffed a small laugh at him.
âIn all seriousness, I made a promise to you and I plan to uphold that.â
âLink, situations like this are impossible to completely control. You cannot promise me a victory when it is three hundred men against three thousand⊠We may have to accept this defeat and surrender to save what we have left. Huh. Surrendering. It seems to be what I do best,â she scoffed.
âOh no. Weâve been over that a thousand times. You did what was right for Hyrule years ago and you are continuing to do that even now.â
Zelda smiled again and leaned back to get a good look at his face, just to take in a beautiful sight that had left months ago, but her smirk was wiped away when she saw the weathered, tired expression he held under the crusted blood on his face.
Noticing her realization, he waved it off, saying, âDonât worry, itâs not all mine,â and bit back the rest of his words when he understood they didnât sound any more comforting. âIâm okay, really.â
Saying nothing to avoid more tears, she gently took his hand and brought him off of the damp balcony, through her bed chambers, and into a washroom. âI need some supplies,â she stated. âGive me just a moment.â
A quarter of an hour later, she re entered the premise with bandages, stitching, different types of creams, and a jar of potion. Link jumped awake, sheepishly smiling after realizing he had dozed off sitting up. âZel, no one knows Iâm here. Despite everything going on, we are merely in a courtship. I donât think your council would take me being alone with you in your quarters too kindly.â
âOf all things to worry about,â she muttered to herself, âhe worries for my reputation.â
âWhat?â
âIf you have not noticed already, the castle is nearly empty. A lot of people are evacuating before the war enters town,â she announced, knowing what was coming next.
âAnd you didnât go with them?â he huffed.
âYou know that would be ridiculous.â
âNot if youâre the last one in your family!â
âThat does not matter if I have no kingdom to rule. I am more that just the last of my line. I cannot run from my fate, Link. My people would see me as a coward and I would be no more fit to rule than any old farmer! I have already faced scrutiny for my previous surrender and I am willing to do it again to save lives. Leaving would be the foolâs choice.â
He paused, avoiding her gaze, âOr leaving would give you the chance to fight another day. But Iâm just any old ranch kidâŠâ
âI did not mean it like that,â she said, regretting her words. âI apologize.â
âI know, I know. We are both under a lot of pressure is all.â
âAll I have to say is I will try my best to stay alive and keep as many people alive along the way as I can,â Zelda stated solemnly.
Link smiled. âI know you will. Iâve always been proud to call you my ruler. This land doesnât deserve you.â
âOnly you would think such a thing. Now,â she swallowed, avoiding eye contact. âEverything off but your undershorts. I need to patch you up.â She began to run hot water in the bath.
âW-what?â he said, but obeyed, removing his stained Hero's clothes until he got to the tunic. Having a hard time bending his arms the way they should go, he muttered that he needed some assistance.
Zelda gently helped him pull off the rest, while having a difficult time looking at the pain in his face. His torso and arms we're riddled with small cuts and bruises, fortunately only one of them seem to be bleeding a little the rest just needed cleaning and some paste. It pained her to see him this way but he was alive and that's what was most important.
âYou sure you're not worried about somebody finding us like this?â Link asked.
Zelda chuckled. âWe both know our self control is too high to do anything by ourselves and like I said, there is barely anyone left here. They all expect me to be asleep. With whatever is to come, if we do get caught in the same room, I honestly do not care what people think of me right now.â Dipping a cloth into the hot water, she cleaned away the spot of the deepest cut and began to sew it shut. Link held still but his face betrayed his discomfort. Soon enough she was done stitching his wound and lowered him into the bath, taking care to clean each cut and wipe away the blood and dirt. Her heart beat so loudly under her fluster to work with him in this way that she was afraid he would hear her nerves, however he became so relaxed, he nearly dozed off in her care. Clean, he climbed out to let her bandage him up, finally noticing her blush even in the dim candlelight. He said nothing but smirked until he realized she was only wearing her nightclothes. No jewels, no dress. Just her own beauty that he had missed.
Finally breaking the awkward silence, he asked, âSince when have you become good at tending to wounds?â
âMy mother was adamant at making sure I had some skills outside of my royal duties, including some basic doctoring. She even taught me about this formula that I am applying to your cuts to help them heal faster with less scarring than usual. I also want you the drink some of this potion please.â
Link drank about half and handed it back, visibly improved in many ways.
âHow is the pain?â Zelda asked, trying her hardest not to look him up and down unnecessarily.
âHonest truth or a good answer?â he grinned sleepily.
She just shook her head and grabbed his hand.
âWhere to now?â
âSleep.â
âBut I don't want to leave yet.â
âYou do not have to.â
He went silent and followed her, curious. After she locked the door, he said, âI can sleep on the floor, no problem.â
âNo! Just come lie down. We are not going to get caught cuddling, I promise,â she urged, getting a slight kick out of his nerves. âYou have a lot of respect, you know? Not many men have that. Not many women do either.â Zelda lept into bed, a strange sense of giddiness worming itâs way into her jumble of emotions.
Link crawled under the covers, but asked, âWhat if I get your fancy poultice all over your nice sheets?â
Zelda sighed, leaning up to kiss him, silencing him.
He immediately relaxed, understanding her answer. Carefully wrapping his arms around her, he pulled her into him and kissed her in return, firm and longing. The general pulled the covers over them and sighed, finally home.
Zelda scooted down to rest her head on his bicep, making sure not to put pressure on any injured spots. âI have missed you so.â
âAnd I, you.â He pressed his lips to the top of her head, taking in her warm, familiar scent. âI wish this night could last forever.â
âI wish it would end, along with this war, so we can do this every night for the rest of our lives someday.â
âNow that is an even better wish.â
Zelda felt him sink further into relaxation, causing her to ease into a pre-sleep drift. Subconsciously, she pressed her face a little further into his chest, physically feeling his heart thud against her lips, the only thing audible besides his breathing.
I was afraid I had lost this, she thought.
A dreamless sleep overtook her, a mere gift following many sleepless nights. She awoke to an empty bed, the key on her dresser slightly moved from where she had put it. Linkâs clothing and weapons were gone. A wave of sadness and pride washed over her, knowing he would never abandon his duty, but scared once more of what awaited him in the coming day. The first rays of sunlight peeked through the window, and Zelda began to prepare herself in whatever way possible, for the potential dawn of a new era stood in her wake.

Written in the Stars
"Within the stars A legend is written As the sky weeps for peace. Droplets of moonbeams Mingled with tears of the sun Shower beauty upon the blackened land. One soul will fly In search of divine blood And together they shall illuminate the lost."

The Beauty of Hyrule
((This ran a bit longer than expected, but I needed some exposition. Here you go thewhitegoddesshylia ! I hope you like it <3
âA little to the left,â Zelda instructed, motioning for one of her servants to properly add the newest painting to her collection.
âRight here, Princess?â
âThat is perfect. Thank you.â She gave him a small smile as he wandered off to start ushering in the daily guests.
âWelcome! Welcome! The Princess just added a new piece this morning! She is taking questions today if any of you have any. Please give her space or the guards will ask you to leave,â the servant announced.
Here we go, Zelda thought to herself, stretching the most genuine smile she could muster across her face, suppressing all evidence of her current mood, not that it changed much in the past few years.
The princessâs art gallery was established a while after the Seven Year War had come to an end. Amidst the wreckage of her home, Zelda eventually came to accept that the castle would surely not be finished within the bounds of her lifetime. She spent the bulk of her days speaking with what was left of her high council. There was always much to be done, as the rebuilding of a kingdom was no easy task. But in the evenings, she found herself able to relax the most in private art sessions, stroking her feelings away at an empty canvas, tucked away in a rather secluded area of town where most of the nobles had once resided. It was humbling to live outside of the castle for once, yet she wished the remaining people of the town didnât insist on her area of residence, for surely they deserved just at much luxury as her after such a wretched war.
People swirled around her, unsure of how closely to approach. Most began to observe the art as it was their original intent, leaving Zelda to drift off in thought.
âI should not even be this kingdomâs ruler anymore. I do not deserve it,â Zelda said one evening to Impa, her most trusted adviser and caretaker.
âWhy would you say such a thing?â Impa asked, incredulous.
The princess said nothing more, continuing to work on her newest painting.
âI am really fond of your idea to run this gallery,â Impa said, changing the subject. âIt seems to be a stress reliever for everyone. Your talent in the arts has not faltered since your childhood.â
âThank you, Impa. I am appreciative of your thoughts. The gallery was meant to serve as a calming distraction,â she articulated. Her words were mechanical, lacking something substantial that Impa never really realized was there until the princess locked it away.
Impa opened her mouth but thought better about what she wanted to ask. Instead, it was replaced with, âWhy do you never use the color green?â
âPrincess Zelda, if I may, I have a question,â a young, stuffy-looking man stepped towards the day-dreaming beauty.
Snapping back to reality, Zelda replied, âYes. Yes, you may ask whatever is on your mind.â
âWhy do you never use the color green? In my years of traveling Hyrule, I have seen most of this gorgeous scenery you portray so accurately, but one detail is missingâgreen,â he pondered, stroking a neatly trimmed beard, and turning back towards her art. He squinted as if to make sure he didnât miss something.
âI supposed I believe my art has all of the green it needs,â Zelda stated, the slight smile receding with each passing moment.
âI assume you have not traveled as much as I, so maybe your history books ran out of green ink,â he rambled, avoiding any further eye contact with the ruler.
She stayed silent, thinking better of mentioning her quite deliberate travels during the war. Select few people knew of her deepest secrets.
The man hobbled away, still intrigued by her autumn colors of the Lost Woods, and the brown, decaying grass of Hyrule Field.
Impa stood nearby, waiting for the morningâs event to subside. Zelda would soon be swept away with her daily duties, giving the caretaker a few minutes to complete her quest. She knew very well the princess was merely ignoring the her presence, so she kept her distance. In her bag was the answer the manâs question, to her own question: the Lens of Truth.
Finally, the crowd began to thin and Zelda bid them goodbye, stalking away. She nodded to Impa with a knowing look. Of course she knows what I am here for. She knows me too well,Impa thought, stepping out of the shadows. Once the princess was led away by her guards, the caretaker pulled out the magical object from her bag, ignoring curious looks from the crowd.
Zeldaâs art had always been beautiful yet outwardly lacking something. Not just the absence of green, but the same sort of spark that used to be found in her voice. She mostly painted scenery of Hyrule, but Impa sometimes wondered if the areas were supposed to betray scenes of Hyrule before⊠or during the war. Slowy, she raised the lens to her eye, and tried to comprehend the rush of emotions that came soon after.
Beautiful, vibrant colors of all pallets dyed the canvases with shades Impa was sure she had forgotten existed. The essence of every painting seemed to glow as if made from sunlight itself. Pink wild flowers bloomed in Hyrule Field. Gentle, orange smoke billowed from the top of Death Mountain. Impa swore she could hear the shimmering, blue waterfalls of Zoraâs Domain. And yet, every single painting held one thing in common. In the center, stood a lone figure garbed in green, doing various, adventurous activities, bringing beauty to everything he encountered: The Hero of Time.
The experience only lasted for a few moments before Impa tore herself away, charging for the nearest exit. She needed to be alone until the tears subsided.

Even in Death
FB Drabble request
I actually made myself cry a little while writing this. Granted I was listening to this which helped it along, but still I usually listen to music while writing and yet I've never cried before during the process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWuvgx7pg_k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iqxzURgQWg (this one especially)
There is some blood and very mild sexual themes if any of that bothers you. Let me know what you think!
Couple: TP Zelink Prompt: Death
~Even in Death~
âShe has been so antsy lately,â Zelda cooed sleepily, rocking her daughter to a fro as the little girl cried. Link mumbled something incoherent, sitting up in bed, but then said with eyes barely open, âYou want me to feed her?â Zelda laughed, giving little Zelda her breast, âYou happen to not have the right tools for that.â âOh yeah.â He rubbed his eyes, trying to wake himself more. âGo back to sleep, Sweety. I can handle her.â Link stood, admiring his wife in the glint of the full moon from their balcony doors. Her eyes nearly glowing as much as her skin. After all of the time spent with her, he was still unsure if she was made from finest porcelain, yet so full of life. Zelda didnât stop him from wandering over to hug her from behind. âCome sit,â he said. Quietly, Link led her to sit in the crook of his legs as Zelda continued to hum a lullaby. He rested his chin on her shoulder and admired their child, rubbing his wifeâs arms with his hands. Soon, the girl quieted her fussing, drinking greedily. âZelly is going to look just like you, I know it,â Zelda whispered, interrupting her lullaby for only a moment. âPoor kid,â Link muttered. âThe only useful trait she would get is the ability to herd goats.â âOh hush, you know that is not the truth.â Linkâs only response was a sleepy kiss on her neck, but he didnât pull away afterwards. Instead, he let his lips feel the soft pattering of her pulse, taking in her sweet, familiar scent. Soon, Zellyâs little blue eyes were shut tight, and after a quick burping, Zelda lied her back down to sleep, hopefully until morning. âWhy are you looking at me like that?â Zelda whispered, noticing his hungry stare with a flushed smile across her face. âI just⊠I donât know,â Link replied. âAs much as I love the thought of her growing up, I never want stuff like this to end. Sheâs perfect. Your... perfect.â He locked eyes with hers, noticing a strange expression on her face. âWhatâs wrong?â A few tears pricked at her gaze and she joined him again, straddling him in a warm hug. âI do not know. I just know I feel the same about you. After everything we have been through, there is no one I would rather have in your place at my side.â Link ran his fingers through her loose hair with one hand and stroked her back with another, sliding along the silk of her thin nightgown. He rocked her a little, counting every beat of her heart. Zelda pulled away, her emotion changing rapidly to that of something mischievous. âWe can always have more than one.â Link grinned as he cupped her face and kissed her deeply. ---- Zelda twitched in her sleep, strange shadows dancing in her head. She faintly knew her body lied in the arms of her husband, but something kept trying to pull her away, threatening to rip her from reality. A looming figure kept inching closer and closer⊠Zelda woke with a shiver, hoping her strange movement didnât wake Link, but sure enough, his instincts had already kicked in and he stared at her. Link said nothing, simply studying her face for a moment before his eyes widened, feral and alert. His head whipped around to the end of their bed, attention locking onto a shadow that stood, looming over Zellyâs crib. Without hesitation, he lept out of bed, grabbing for the Ordonian sword that always leaned against their nightstand for this exact reason. Within seconds, the blade was drawn, steel glinting in sync with the fangs of his scowl. Too afraid to scream, Zelda sat in bed, trembling uncontrollably. A million thoughts ran through her mind. Do I stand? Do I call for help? Who is he? What does he want? Would he hurt my daughter if I moved? How did he get past the guards? The blood from her face drained as she saw an unfamiliar sword jammed through the doorâs metal handles, barring anyone from entering. A deep cackled came from the cloaked figure, his focus entirely on Link. âWhat a beautiful family.â âWho are you? What do you want?â Link hissed. The shadow clicked his tongue. âDear, dear, Hero of Twilight. While you live in luxury because of who you saved, you forget about those you didnât. My family was murdered in that war, and I am here to return the favor.â With a cry that finally woke the baby, Link lunged forward, blade clashing with the newly drawn dagger of the intruder. Zelda finally stood, unarmed but waiting for a chance to snatch baby Zelda and run; her worry for her child forced her to forget about the barred door. Link struggled with the unknown man, parrying jabs and trying to land a hit of his own. Zeldaâs heart thudded in fear of the dagger hitting itâs mark, for not a link of chainmail protected the heroâs bare chest. Finally, Zelda seized the chance to hop over the bed and make her way to Zelly as Link forced the man against the wall with one arm, the other raising his sword to strike. But as Zelda reached for her daughter, she paused when Link cried out in pain. The shadow had landed a vicious gash in Linkâs thigh, causing the hero to let up on his grip a little. Taking advantage of Linkâs hesitation, the man forced Link away with unexpected speed, diving past a counter attack and headed straight for the queen. Raising her hands in defense, but too slow to summon any sort of magic in time, the intruder wrangled Zelda by the hair and flipped her around so that his blade just barely broke the skin of her throat, glinting in the moonlight. Link paused in his advance. Hot tears slid down the queenâs face as she prepared for anything, Zelly screaming in the background. In a situation like this, she prayed the guards didnât try to enter their chambers just yet. Teeth grit in pain, Link stood tall, letting the invader see that his wound meant nothing as his blood stained the floor. âLet her go.â âYou have to make a choice, Hero.â He let go of Zeldaâs hair and flipped out another blade from his sleeve, pointing it at their frightened daughter. âWhich do you want to keep?â As Zelda cried out at his words, the assassin ordered, âShut up or Iâll end you both!â For the first time in years, overwhelming fear threatened to wash him away. Link pleaded, âI donât know who you are! Please explain to me what I did wrong!â âYou have to the count of ten to make your choice.â âI tried to save everyone I came across-â âTen, nine-â Linkâs heart pounded out of control, the sound trying to deafen him. âEight-â He locked eyes with his wife as she glanced to the distraught little Zelda. He knew who she wanted him to pick. âSeven,six-â âPLEASE!â the hero shouted, dropping to his knees. âFive-â Zelda swallowed, barely able to under the weight of steel. A familiar, rush of power surged through her bones. âFour-â Link started sobbing. âWAIT-â âThree-â Zeldaâs hand closest to the manâs chest inched itâs way higher and higher without his knowledge. âTwo-â With a blinding light and an audible crack, Zelda sent as many bolts of electricity through her captor as she could muster, sending him crashing through the glass doors of the balcony behind her into the night. His screams became less audible as he fell. âZelda!â Link rushed forward, ignoring the glass shards that cut his bare feet, sword clanging to the ground. Zelda stood, a small smile of accomplishment on her face; she opened her mouth but only an indecipherable gurgle came out. The king caught his wife as a wave of blood ran from her throat. Flustered, he lowered her to the floor, trying to shut the wound without choking her. âZ-Zelda stay here! Hold s-still-â He let go of the wound just for a moment to yank a sheet from their bed. His sobs grew more desperate as the white cloth was soaked seconds later, blood, trickling from her mouth as well. âSOMEBODY HELP US!â he screamed at the door. Zelda raised a bloody hand to his face, trying to calm his hysteria. There were too many words she wanted to say. She knew taking her eyes off of his face would be the end, but her gaze refused to stay completely focused. She sputtered, desperately trying to say how much she loved him. âI love you. Please donât go. I love you t-too much, ZeldaâŠâ Link muttered through sobs. Moments later her hand fell from his face. The King of Hyrule cradled his wife as their child continued to scream, rocking her lifeless body. He had let go of her wound when the crimson stopped flowing and buried his face in her hair, the scent of blood overwhelming his senses. Through the stains, her skin continued to glow in the moonlight as she was still perfect, even in death. Link barely heard the guards burst through the door through his cries of agony.

Imperfection
âLet me whisper into your soul and reveal the words you cannot speak.
Let me touch your face and turn the broken connection back around.
Let me embrace your mind and awaken the courage you thought was gone.
Let me kiss your imagination so you can see what we could be.
Let me love every aspect, every detail, every flaw of you.
Let me be your princess, your love, your imperfection.â

âHey! Link! Look!â
A Â wisp of sparkles fluttered past the soldierâs head.
âWhat about these?â Proxi pondered, planting her bottom in a bed of yellow daisies.
Link thought about her offer. âHm. I donât know⊠Yellow doesnât seem right.â
âHmpf.â She huffed, lazily gliding over to sit on his shoulder. âWeâve been looking for hours. When will you be done? Iâm hungry.â
âYouâre always hungry, and itâs been about twenty minutes to be exact,â he chuckled, his sapphire gaze still scanning the open field. One of Linkâs hands busied itself by thoughtfully stroking his chin, the other tenderly grasping a brilliant bundle of baby pink lilies, fuchsia dapples dancing on rims of the petals. It was noon, and while the troops took a short hour to eat during their tactical advances, Link figured there was someone special who could use a much needed treat.
Proxi sighed, grasping the brim of his ear and lay flat on her stomach in dramatic exasperation. Suddenly, something vibrant caught her eye. âLink!â She tugged on his hear.
âHold on just a few more minutes, I promise.â
âNo, look!â
Link obliged and was met with something he was sure had to be the result of magic. Hidden in the midst of the daisies stood a lone, cobalt-shaded rose. Never had he lived to see a spring produce something so brilliant, so rare. âThis is perfect!â
After plucking the phenomenon from its pedestal, Link jumped as an unexpected presence joined his adventure.
âWhat is perfect?â
Link whirled around, his heart edging into his throat, bouquet hidden behind his back. Proxi giggled.
Locks filled with sundrops framed a suspecting blue gaze as Princess Zelda stood, waiting for an answer.
âUm⊠I was justâŠâ Link muttered.
âWhy are you all the way out here? Are you not hungry?â Genuine concern flooded her voice. Zelda glanced over her shoulder, referring to the soldiers chowing down in their makeshift camp.
Thankfully, Proxi kept her mouth shut this time, fiddling with Linkâs earing.
Taking a deep breath, Link revealed his motives, offering the lilies centered around the mystical, blue rose.
âAre⊠are these for me?â Zelda gasped, hesitantly reaching for them.
At a loss for words, Link smiled, a blush settling in his expression.
âThis color rose! I have never seen a thing like it.â Before he could respond, the Princess of Hyrule stepped forward, wrapping her arms around him, careful not to crush her new gift. âThank you, Link.â
Not a second too soon, the soldier reciprocated her advance, embracing Zeldaâs soft form. A beautiful scent, more so than the entire field of flowers, preoccupied his thoughts. âYouâre welcome, Princess.â

Wolf Princess
Pierce the heavens with your songs!
Someday I shall sing along.
Dash through the deep forests unscathed!
How will I ever be so brave?
Is it your nature, or your ancestry?
Will I ever solve your mystery?
Legendary Hero of TwilightâŠ
Oh! Hear my woes and my plight.
As you bear the shadows with pride
All I wish is to be by your side.
You carry Courage, every day and hour.
I hold Wisdom; is that enough power?
Teach me your ways, whether by fate or spell.
I wish to be fierce, a swift beast as well.
Not only do I owe you for action,
I merely could use a distraction.
The burdens of ruling cause much a strain,
Surely adventure with you kills the pain.
What is your answer, my knight in green?
Will you help me, a desperate queen?
I could be of some aid to you, I digress.
But all I want to be, is your Wolf Princess.
((Nerdy rhyming is nerdy. Maybe Zelda just wants to adventure with him sometimes <3 Being a wolf is pretty darn cool tho

May I Have This Dance?
((No one asked for this but I wrote it anyway lmao
âWelcome to the Princessâs twentieth birthday celebration! If you wish to dance with her, simply offer her the flower you were given at the gates. Place it in the vase next to her throne, and offer her your hand. Oh! Here she comes now!â an attendant shouted over the murmur of the gathered crowd that lingered in the ballroom, casually chatting and grabbing horderves off of the servantsâ trays.
Link twisted the lily steam in his hands nervously. He had gotten out of training late, and the consequence with a huge line of people already waiting to dance with the princess. There were audible gasps as a shining, poised figure took the hand of a guard and gracefully floated down the stairway to stand in front of her throne. Her gown was a glimmering red with gold embroidery weaving intricate designs through the silk. Her brunette locks sat atop her head and a golden diadem with a glittering emerald framed her face, failing to overtake her natural beauty.
âEch! Itâs too bad weâre way back âere eh, Horrus? I mean, look at the rack on that one! Would love to get up close.â
Link frowned, his attention turning to a pair of young men standing in front of him.
âYer right, Durk,â the lanky, bird-faced one responded, licking his upper lip. âMaybe if our hands âslipped,â sheâd let us off the hook.â
The first one laughed over the music, stroking his sad excuse for facial hair. âWeâd just tell âer we canât dance or somethin.â He was a larger fellow, shorter than his friend, but the distinct black soot on his grimy hands reminded Link of a blacksmith. He continued, âWait! Wait! I got it! Iâll go for the top⊠and YOU can âaccidentlyâ slide your hand down too far, eh? Youâre an ass man, aint yeh?â
The tall one snorted. âYou know me too well! This is the one chance we got to do it! The boys back home will be so jealous.â He cackled harder, spit flying on the person in front of him.
It took every ounce of power to keep Link from saying something, especially when he started to smell alcohol on their breath. Zelda is already taking time out of her special day for her guests, let alone putting up with these losers, he thought.
He tried to focus on other folks as the line plodded along ever so slowly. People of all ages swept along with the music, the romantics leaning in a little closer to their sweethearts than the old couples who swayed in smaller circles, enjoying each otherâs company. What felt like an hour of tolerating the idiots in front of him and holding on to every shred of patience he had, Link notice the line was actually getting significantly shorter. Only a few stood in front of him.
âSheâs still going,â he muttered to himself, admiring the princessâs stamina as she gave her subtle smile and energy to each and every one of her guests. For a split second, Link could have sworn she locked eyes with him, and he glanced away immediately after. Why am I even in line? I donât know how to dance well and Iâm not even going to be able to make eye contact!
Link dreaded the moment that Horrus held out his hand to Zelda, barely even able to keep his composure in his drunken state. The princess held her smile, but Link was sure he saw her nose crinkle at the scent of her new dance partner.
âAye get her!â Durk mumbled, eyes still focused on the beautyâs chest.
Link was waiting for something awful to occur when another figure caught his eye. A small girl, about seven summers old or so, delicately offered her flower to a boy about her age, a glimmer of affection in her eye. Delight filled her expression when he took the offering, but Linkâs heart fell when the boy started laughing, elbowing his friend who awkwardly waited for the scene to end, unsure whether to speak up or go along with it. Tears filled the girlâs eyes at her crushâs mocking and she dashed away, broken-hearted. Link glared at the young boy who took no notice, but was distracted again at a loud yelp.
Horrus held his hand in pained, looking shocked and offended as Zelda stood next to him, frowning. âDisrespect will get you nowhere in my presence,â she huffed, her glare fixating on the next person in line.
Durk cracked under pressure. âCome on, buddy! Letâs put some ice on that,â he said with a shudder in his voice. Swiftly avoiding further confrontation, the pair scurried away, leaving Link next in line.
Zeldaâs glare met his eyes, softening when she realized Link had no affiliation with the knuckle-heads. His heart pounded as he clutched the lily tighter.
âAre you next?â she asked sweetly, stepping closer, threatening to intimidate whatever courage Link had left.
âI- uh⊠yes. I mean-â he stuttered, stopping to think for a moment. âActuallyâŠâ
Curious, Princess Zeldaâs knowing look flickered past Link to where the little girl had dashed away. Did she see what happened too? Link pondered.
Link finally finished his sentence. âThere is someone else who may need this flower,â he stated, looking to the floor. âIâm sorry, Your Majesty.â
âNo worries, my dear. Next time,â she said, her warm tone making Link almost regret his choice.
The trainee lumbered away, in search of the broken-heart. Sniffling caught his attention next to the candy counter as his gaze locked on a familiar pink dress. The little girl sat in a chair, hands over her eyes. Her golden curls bounced to and fro when she rejected her friendâs pleas to âhave some candy and feel better.â
Link stepped over to the pair, getting down on one knee at eye-level. The girlâs friend gasped and nudged her frantically. âExcuse me, Miss,â Link said, holding out his flower.
The girl looked up, wiping snot and tears away to get a better look. Wide-eyed, she waited for Link to say more.
âIt seems as though you are having a rough day. May I have this dance?â
Her friend squealed, shaking her even harder.
Incredulous, the girl accepted Linkâs flower and hopped off of her chair, unable to look away from his face.
Taking her by the hand, Link wandered off to where the girlâs rejector would be sure to see. âSo, little miss, my name is Link. Whatâs yours?â
âJ-jemmie,â she mumbled.
âThatâs a very pretty name.â
âThank you, Mister. Y-your very handsome.â
Link smiled, overtaken by a warm feeling in his stomach. âThank you, but not as handsome as you are beautiful.â
She giggled, wiping the last tear away.
âNow,â Link began, âIâm not very good at dancing so youâll have to teach me.â He looked down at her and winked.
âOkay.â
Link let her lead, nearly having to hunch over as she awkwardly pulled him this way and that, her curls bobbing to the rhythm of the song. He shot a sly smirk to her ex-crush as he watched, arms crossed and angry. The duo was having too much fun dancing and eating sweets with her friend Sara before the music finally came to an end.
âWow,â Link said. âTime flies when youâre having fun with a couple of fine, young ladies.â
The girls giggled but then looked sad when they realized it was time to go home.
âIf your parents are fine with it, you can come visit me at the castle sometime. Iâm training to join the Hylian army so I wonât be going anywhere,â Link suggested.
The girlâs parents showed up moments later, giving him an appreciative smile for spending time with them. Sara dashed away, but Jemmie stayed a moment more.
âThank you, Mister Link,â she gave him a quick hug and ran after Sara.
Link smiled as he watched them go.
âExcuse me, Mister Link?â a warm voice said from behind.
A shiver went up the traineeâs back. Link turned to see Princess Zelda standing alone, bright sapphire eyes shining expectantly. She looked tired, yet there was some sort of wild energy that danced behind her pupils, unrelenting in light of her physical state.
She said, âI asked my musicians to save one more song after everyone else had gone. I believe I have time for one more. May I have this dance?â Her expression melted into something that Link did not expect from the confident ruler: uncertainty.
âYes, of course Your Majesty,â Link bowed and held out his hand.
As the last of the crowd dissipated, Zelda nodded to her remaining musicians, and a gentle waltz filled the room.
âI-Iâm not a good dancer,â Link admitted, swallowing hard.
âRelax soldier. Nothing could compare to those oafs from earlier. The nerve!â she huffed, leading the dance.
Linkâs hand that rested on her lower back moved up a little, and his other gripped her left hand a bit tighter.
Zelda studied his face. âI feel like I have seen you before.â
âW-well I am a trainee for the Hylian Army, so I live here. My great-grandfather served in honor of his friend saving his life after a raid in their home village during the War of Darkness. Ordon was it? I suppose my dream is to help like he did.â Link shut his mouth, realizing he had started to ramble.
âThat is not quite it. There is something else about you that seems familiar to me, like an old friend,â she muttered.
Link just gave a crooked smile, trying to hold eye contact and not step on her feet.
âAnyhow, I saw what you did for that little one. You made her very happy.â
âYou saw that?â He blushed deeper.
âSuch kindness is not something I run into often. It always seems like everyone has their own agenda these days, never stopping to really look into the eyes of another.â
There was something about those words that largely eased Linkâs tension. Though his heart never stopped fighting to escape his body, he was able to study her⊠really look into her soul, and what he saw behind those sapphire eyes was something he would never forget.
The couple danced in silence until the music stopped all too soon. Bidding him a thank you and a good night, Zelda swept away, leaving Link to stare after the mystery that was his new dream.

Through an Eternity
Have you returned to me?
You came to fulfill a promise Â
A destiny
You left me anticipating
Standing on the brink of reality
But something was different
I had thought
For sure your fate lied elsewhere
You saw the twilight in her eyes
That glowed so beautiful
It reminded me of another life
I had to let you go
The world depended on it
We could have been but
The leap in time was too great
You fell into anotherâs arms
As we parted ways
Only to create a new history
There had to be more to come
Yet in another life
Under the curse of the greatest evil
We had a family
So new and full
Our kind would inherit the new lands
For ages
You dove beneath the clouds
No matter what lied below
Just like always
My chosen hero
So valiant and bright
I remember sitting with your figure in my arms
Watching the light die from your skies
Nothing I could do would be enough
For you were already gone
(Now read it from bottom to top)

Zeldaâs Legend
((So my friend told me I should write something in light of my little theory of the games actually being named after Link. I had fun with this ~
âOh, Hilda! Maybe this is too cheesy. What if he doesnât read it?â Zelda muttered, burying her face in her pillow and pushing her laptop aside.
Hilda scoffed, âYou think he wouldnât? Are you kidding? He reads all of your writings.â
âWhat are you two blathering about over there?â Midna yawned, nearly asleep in her math book. âI hear self-doubt again.â
The trio normally spent their evenings studying in their dorm room, Zelda working away on her philosophy homework of the top bunk bed when she wasnât practicing in the music department, Hilda silently clicking away at her graphic design work at the desk, and Midna either sleeping in her single bed across the room or casually studying her general school work.
Zelda said nothing as she continued to stare at the page she was beginning to hate more and more the longer she edited her writing.
âSheâs worried Link wonât like his birthday surprise,â Hilda responded, clicking away at her keyboard.
Midna made a face. âBut he loves Pokemon plushies.â
âI got him more than just thatâŠâ Zelda chuckled. âI am finally finishing up this fifty-chapter story I started last year for him last year. He has no idea about it. But every time I try to edit it I end up finding too many things I want to fix,â Zelda explained.
âFIFTY?â Midna asked.
âYeah⊠I have hobbies you know.â
âI donât know how you find the time.â
Zelda shrugged. âWell he has been asking me for a while why I âstopped writing.ââ Little did he know, Zelda had been working harder than ever.
âSo like⊠you know you canât get that published by tomorrow,â Midna stated.
âIâm not looking to publish it.. Iâm just giving him the printed copy whenever I can finish editing the last chapter!â Zelda sunk back into her pillow and grumpily moaned in dramatic exasperation.
âZelda,â Hilda insisted, not looking away from her screen, âyou know heâs going to love it. Just go pay your outrageous printing fee and print it already. I have a binder you can stick it in if you have nothing else.â
âJust give me a moment to contemplate life, then Iâll go. Trust me, I picked out a binder for it a long time ago,â Zelda replied.
Midna let out another huge yawn once more before putting in some earbuds and giving up on her math proofs. âI hope it works out, Zel. Let me know what his face looked like. Iâm going to try to head to sleep early.â
âWhatâs the story even about?â Hilda pondered.
Zelda blushed, âW-well⊠Itâs sorta⊠an adventure about a hero and a princess. But I promise itâs not overly cliche!â
âIt sounds cliche.â Hilda smirked and gave a sly glance at her friend.
Zelda frowned. âYouâre not helping me with the confidence levels.â
âKidding! Geez. What did you name it?â
âI⊠havenât decided yet.
Hilda said, âWell if you ever need art for it, you know who to ask.â
âThanks.â Anxiety nipping at her heels, Zelda forced herself to transfer the story onto a thumb drive and head for the computer lab silently convincing herself she had done all she could.
â-
Zelda tapped her foot nervously. Â She sat on the edge of the campus fountain waiting for Link to arrive, knowing he passed through the area on his way to the menâs dorms. She wore her favorite purple dress with the hi-low skirt, silver heels, and his favorite perfume. Next to her sat her backpack with his gift inside.
Finally, she caught sight of his green jacket. She stood, heart-thudding harder when he took sight of her, a breeze catching her loose hair and skirt. Shad and Ravio immediately smirked and ducked away, leaving Link to his girl.
âWell hi there, Beautiful,â he murmured, grinning through a blush and stepping just inches away, opening his arms for a hug. âI didnât get the wrong time for our date tonight, did I?â
âNo,â Zelda said, her voice muffled against his chest. âI just couldnât wait.â
âYou couldâve texted me to meet you here. I almost went the long way around to grab a coffee with the guys.â
She pulled away, smiling and still trying to suppress her nerves. âBut I wanted to surprise you.â
âYou look⊠amazing,â Link confessed before kissing her forehead. âThe best surprise,â he laughed.
âThatâs not all,â she said. Holding her breath, she pawed at her bag. This is it.
Link beamed when she pulled out the Pokemon plush. âAw! I love Leafeon. Thank you so much!â
Before he could hug her again, she pulled out the binder. âAnd⊠and this.â
Confused at first, Link tucked the plush under his arm to study the mysterious gift. Opening the gold, glimmering binder, his eyes studied her words. Moments later, he found the need to sit down at the edge of the fountain, drinking in every line of the story. He was on page ten before he realized he had left Zelda standing there.
âThis⊠is a story about us?â he asked, incredulous.
Zelda had a difficult time with eye contact all of the sudden. âY-yes. I wanted to make you something special this time. Iâm sorry if it sucks.â
âSucks!? Youâre lucky itâs Friday because I know what Iâm doing all weekend.â Link stood up to face her again, leaning in for a kiss laced with gratitude. âI was starting to worry you didnât like writing anymore.â
The tension in her joints finally ebbed a little. âYou⊠you really like it so far?â
âOf course I do. Your skill has always baffled me. By the way, I didnât see a title.â
âThatâs the thing⊠I havenât decided yet.â
âWell I guess Iâll have to finish it then and maybe I can help.â
âCan I be there when you do?â she asked.
âOnly if I can read to you.â
She giggled, burying her face in his chest. âHappy birthday, Link.â
â-
The pair spent the weekend together. Midna and Hilda made sure to find things to do outside of their dorm room, giving the couple maximum privacy. Zelda made a little blanket fort by taping her sheets to the ceiling around her bunk. She borrowed Hildaâs desk lamp and extension cord for cozy reading light. Link leaned against a mound of pillows and munched on Oreos that his girlfriend fed him. Zelda lied next to him, smooshing the plush Leafeon between her body and his. Link read the story aloud, never tiring or stopping even when Zelda dozed off now and again. She new every word of that story, and while she was nervous to hear it read aloud, the enthusiasm of his buttery voice silenced her worries. Now she simply lay with her head on his chest, listening to his heart and hanging on every word. She took extra delight when his pulse sped up during the actiony parts.
On the evening of the second day, Zelda began to dread the last chapter, but for a different reason than before.
âChapter fifty, Dawn of the Final Day,â Link read.
She sighed.
âWhatâs wrong?â
âItâs almost over,â she stated.
âYeah, youâre right.â Link said, voice cracking a little from overuse. âBut I have to know if the hero gets with the princess.â
Zelda smirked again, hugging his chest tighter.
Link continued to read. âLink, the Hero of Time, stepped toward the Hylian princess. âWill I ever see you again?ââ
The enchanted scene danced behind Zeldaâs eyelids. Princess Zelda sent her hero back in time to relive his childhood and stop the Seven Year War from ever happening in the first place, saving the lives of the Skyloftians and preventing the mixing of the Light and Twilight realm. It ended with the child hero and young princess meeting each other again in the castle garden, ready to start a new beginning.
Link closed the binder, letting out a deep sigh. âIâm both exhausted but excited. I need to know what happens! Will they ever see Midna and Hilda again? Will the officially build a colony on the surface? A floating castle is nice and all but Iâd want to explore! You should publish this, Zel. I mean⊠unless this is private.â Link fumbled with his words. âI j-just mean to say youâre such a good writer.â
âI know what you meant, Silly,â she reassured. âI would change our names to something else, but maybe someday.â
âDid you come up with a title yet?â
Zelda bit her lip, looking up at him. âI want to name it after the hero. How about âThe Legend of Linkâ? Too obvious?â
âHow about âThe Legend of Zeldaâ?
Zelda raised an eyebrow. âI said after the hero, not the princess.â
âBut that is naming it after the hero! Link is Zeldaâs legend. Itâs almost like naming it after the both of them⊠or the both of us,â he announced, grinning a clever grin.
âThat could work. Hm⊠âThe Legend of Zelda.â It has a good ring.â
âIâll say.â Link slid down so that his face rested on the blankets next to hers. âThank you, for everything. This weekend was better than I could have imagined. I canât imagine the amount of work you put into thisâ He leaned forward for an affectionate kiss.
Heart swelling with pride at the amazing man she could claim as her own, she simply whispered, âYouâll never stop being worth it, my Legend.â
