“You’re literally still smiling.”

With all of his defenses and reservations intact, as he never let himself cross much beyond the kitchen island into the house, Minho has been making it through the weeks just fine as a private chef at the Han residence. At least it stays that way, until the force—obnoxious, annoying and gorgeous shaped—comes breaking his character apart.

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

Another AO3 thing I’m curious about, how do yall decide if something is good enough to read? Usually I follow a rule of 1 kudos for every 10 hits. One because it’s easy math and two it’s yet to fail me. Thoughts? Do you just go for it and pray it’s good?

Here is the secret to fandom:

Give zero fucks about what anyone else is doing.

Seriously.  I mean it.  Because inevitably you will love something that no one else loves.  Or you will love something that everyone loves and people will shit all over it because it’s “so trite and unimaginative and done.” Or you will love something that no one else has ever heard of.  Or you will love something dark and edgy and or obscure and people will roll their eyes and say, “What, do you want people to think you’re dark and edgy and obscure?”

Alternatively, you will not love the thing that everyone else loves, and you will wonder what precisely is wrong with you that the sight of that thing is aggravating the shit out of you now when the whole world sings its praises as one.

People will irritate you.  They’ll irritate you with headcanons that make no sense and misinterpretations of canon.  They will make the same jokes 500 times.  They will overwhelm your corner of fandom with something you either are tired of hearing about or don’t care about.  They will post art that isn’t theirs.  You will meet people who think you are the greatest person ever and bombard you with messages  only to wander off when they find someone new or shinier; you will meet people whom you admire and who do not really seem to notice you exist. 

So give zero fucks about it.  Seriously.  Like what you like, blacklist what you need to blacklist, and ignore everything else.  Be friends, play nice, enjoy it.  And in the meantime, just do you.  Like what you like, love what you love, and to hell with all the rest of it.

Last sentence you wrote Now I have a more interesting sentence (unsurprisingly from my super secret wip) Hyunjin’s lips twitch down, his heart hurting because Seungmin blames himself for not seeing this coming. “It–It’s okay, I… I haven’t really talked to anyone about this a lot,” he admits softly, feeling ashamed.

3. how you feel about your current WIP Oh boy now you've asked me something KJGNDKJFN I am writing this wip, the super secret wip (at this point it's barely secret anymore but oh well), for a fest. The prompt made me really excited, which is why I chose it, BUT it turned out to be more difficult than I thought I am/was struggling to write this without it being too monotonous, and I wasn't happy with it a few weeks ago, so I had to rewrite a whole scene and change my approach (I never completely rewrite scenes bc I always try to plan well).... Now I am way happier with it, but it's still not the easiest fic to write kjfgndfkjgh and I am hoping that when I read it back to edit it I will be satisfied!! I think I will be, but yeah it is a tough one

10. what is the longest amount of time you’ve let a draft rest before you finished it? I don't know the exact time, but as you might know, I'm someone who has at most 2 wips at a time, so I think the longest I've let a draft rest is a month or two? (and it's usually bc I've started a WIP and in between I've joined a fest so then I prioritize the fest fic)

12. a trope you’re really into right now Maybe it's not really a trope, but I've always been a fan of trope subversion! Or taking a trope and giving my own spin to it :D Of course I love my clichés as well, but bc I've been writing for a while now, it's fun to write or read different takes on tropes! The super secret wip I'm writing rn kind of has a different approach to a trope (I think, at least), and I like that :D

18. if you keep them, share a deleted sentence or paragraph from a published fic I don't often keep deleted sentences, because I usually just delete them and I don't often rewrite complete scenes, but we're in luck because my super secret wip I'm writing rn actually DOES have a deleted scene that I rewrote, so I will share that (it's not a published fic but shhh)

“What do you think about doing a real date soon, Hyunjin?” Chan asks when Hyunjin returns his jacket, standing in front of his dorm. Hyunjin wants to say yes, but he hesitates, and Chan can tell. “Not yet? We can take it slow, I don't mind.”

“Let’s do that, thank you, hyung,” Hyunjin tells him, and Chan smiles. “I did really have fun.”

“Good. Then I'll see you around.” 

With that, Chan walks away, and Hyunjin lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding.

19. the most interesting topic you’ve researched for a fic The most interesting topic I've researched is probably all kinds of fish for the crack fic When lyfe gives you🍋, like what is the loudest fish, how some fish evolve so that their eyes move to a different spot, etc. (all because I wrote Chan as a beach boy xD)

The last sentence you wrote It's from a super secret wip and it's not really an exciting sentence bc it's ending the scene but here it is For now, though, he’ll focus on being proud and happy that they’ve completed recording the song, and he’ll let himself enjoy all the compliments Hyunjin gives him. I don't think it will be difficult to guess which pairing I'm writing JKNDGJKF, but from this snippet it'll be harder to guess what tropes / AU I'm writing (but that'll stay a secret until the end of May)

11. a WIP you’d like to finish someday well, you know me and my only one WIP at a time mindset haha, so the one above is the only WIP I have! So that will be my answer :D Because I'm writing for a fest, it has to stay secret what it's about, sorry!!!!!

14. Where do you get your inspiration? I mostly get my inspiration from tropes and ideas and prompts! It's why I enjoy being part of fests, events, and bingos so much, because they will give me prompts and tropes to take inspiration from! For prompt fests I always love challenging myself writing prompts I wouldn't come up with myself and writing that in my own way, and for bingos I love challenging myself by trying to combine tropes that you wouldn't have paired together otherwise! :D
