some interesting highlights:

Why did you drink so much before?

Davis: Because they tried to kick me out of the band if I didn't.

Head: No we didn't. Fieldy did.

Davis: He did. He said if you don't drink beer it's not gonna work out.

Munky: He didn't mean it, though, because when we wrote the last record I was sober the whole time and these guys were still drinking. I was sober for close to six months. But drinking is just how we deal with all the pressure we're under.

Didn't you say you stopped drinking?

Davis: Yeah, I did because I thought it would make me feel better, but it didn't. That's when it really started to scare me.

Munky: I did the same thing. You're drinking because you're covering up pain. And then when you stop drinking, you start feeling that pain and you don't know what to do. And that's when you start freaking.

Davis: Then you go to the doctor, and he gives you some drugs. I was scared to take them because I didn't know what they would do to me. Then I started to take them, and it made me feel so much better.

Head: It's so good to see him happy. Before, he'd be happy for a few days, and then he'd be in his room all fucking depressed. And it depressed all of us.

Davis: Dude, I'd wake up and I'd literally want to kill myself. I wanted to jump out the window.

Munky: I know. It was so sad. I felt so helpless sometimes 'cuz I wanted to help him and I couldn't. I'd sit next to him in bed and he'd shake and I'd go, "Dude, are you alright?" I wanted to help him so bad, but nothing I could say or do would make him come out of it. I'd tell him I love him and hold him and hug him. I'd say, "Jon, man, all this great stuff is happening to us." But it just didn't matter.

C'mon. What's it [Issues] gonna be about?

Davis: It's about me, me, me, me.

Isn't it always?

Davis: (laughs) That's what I do.

Davis: Oh, yeah. “Reclaim My Place." That was brutal. I was fucking drunk. Sorry, guys.
