And wait she does, for just a moment longer. She has gotten bold in thinking that he will show himself to her every time she seeks him — or maybe he is simply a sucker, and she has simply picked up on that by now. Even so, he makes her wait, until her shoulders shake with shivers, until she starts to think that he really isn’t coming — only when she thinks this does she feel the fur of his mantle put over her shoulders. Only then does she feel his fire-warmed fingertips glide over her neck as he sweeps hair away to place a lasting kiss.
“ It’s awfully late, Søta, ”     he murmurs into the collar of her jacket,     “ The woods aren’t terribly friendly after dark. ”
She's gone wandering, as she often does nowadays when she's feeling restless and missing him, and is feeding the birds deep in the woods with various seeds and treats. Willow supposes she could have done this from home, but she needed the walk, to clear her head. It's getting dark now, too dark to continue walking, so she’s stopped in a clearing, huddled in her jacket, waiting for @krakahe to make an appearance.

“ I did no such thing, ”     His smile betrays him, although he never really meant to make her believe his words. He knows well what he did, that she was able to catch him so off guard like that. He is proud — maybe she can see it in the twinkling of his eyes.
“ You are a poor swimmer, ”     he points out, a jest, one hand holding her around the waist, the other trending water with ease,     “ We must remedy that… Are you afraid of tight spaces? ”
Willow actually screams - equal parts delighted and terrified as she surfaces to see his steady approach in the dark. She tries to swim away but is quickly swept up in his arms; her feeble swimming is no match for his and she’s about to inhale a lungful of water with her girlish shrieking until he holds her up. Willow wraps her legs around him, giggling, baring her teeth.
“I got you,” She kisses him again, then snaps her teeth in his face. Play-nipping at his nose. “You yelped.”

Anyone else and Einár may not be so… patient isn’t the word — amused, maybe? Brows pinch together, his lips curling into a smile — what is he on about? Einár does not say this, though, instead electing to pacify his guest with a drink. For now. He’s heard the tales, seen some of them play out from the sidelines. He knows what may happen.
“ You always have been ‘brother’. My proximity, or lack thereof, means nothing, ”     a drinking horn is passed over, hand carved and rustic, filled to the brim with strong ale. Einár brings his own to his lips.     I am not Too Good for anyone because I travel the realms in search of my daughter,     he wants to say. A knee jerk response to defend himself, but he says nothing of it.     “ I am far from the only one that wanders. ”
“Oh! ‘Brother’ am I, now?”          he crows.          “Too-Good-For-Anyone Einar, who wanders aimlessly, who claims no tribe—calling me, such a forsaken, lowly god, ‘brother’! Shall I bow? Or do you prefer a curtsey? Perhaps I should prostrate myself in the dirt!”
He accepts the hospitality, though, sitting down and awaiting that drink. He likes it here well enough. The energy is vibrant, the revelers attuned and ecstatic. Dancing flame, primal drums, old songs in young voices. The blood in his veins courses with power just witnessing it, and it isn’t even in his name.

Maybe he should have seen it coming. He had noticed that look in her eyes but thought nothing of it at first. As the frigid water hits his bare body he can’t help the yelp that leaves him — caught off guard. Surprised. Delighted.
It’s as if the beast inside of him, that slumbered too lazily while they laid in the pool of furs on the deck, has reawakened once more. He swims to the surface, only to watch her plunge into the water herself, but as she breaches the surface to gasp for air he’s upon her. Strong legs work tirelessly to keep them both afloat as he pulls her close to his body, strong fingers jabbing her sides for clumsy tickles.
“ Godjenta, you snake, ”     he laughs heartily. His eyes are wild like that of a cat ready to pounce. He kisses her again.
She feels her hands roam to cup his jaw, gentle and trembling in the cold -- she holds him like the last drops of fresh water for miles, opens her mouth against his, sincere in her adoration as they part... Before turning sinister once he bids her farewell.
"I will," Willow says sweetly, and then tugs hard against his arm to push him over the edge, following him into the black water below, laughing the whole way, until her laughter can't be heard from below the line of the ice cold ocean.

The pulse of the drums is as intoxicating as the drink, the fire roars higher when @malicemead appeared from beyond the party’s clearing. It’s a wonder it took him this long to attend. The revelry gets wilder as the shape-shifter god draws nearer the center.
“ Took you long enough, ”    Sweat glistens from Einár’s brow, chest heaving as he steps away from the ring of dancers, pulling up two makeshift seats just outside the falling range of embers.     “ Come, sit by the fire. Let me pour you a drink, brother. ”

A kiss she will have — he lets the furs fall from his shoulders , cascading into a heap on the deck. His hair falls around his neck and shoulders, curtaining his face with dark, wild locks.
She’s kissed, soft and hungry, gentle and intense as he always is with her. He has half a mind to push her in now, watch her squeal as she goes, and for a moment he reaches up to act on it — but he doesn’t. Instead his hand rests to cup her face.
“ Enjoy your swim, skatten min. ”
Willow is prepared for the cold, but she still shivers as she slips out of her clothing and stands there bare at the edge. Her back is to the water, a dark glimmer of mischief alights her gaze as she looks back at him with her arms at her sides.
"A kiss before I go?"

Lazy, half lidded eyes look out to the water that laps lazily against the hull of his ship. The water is smooth, ripples reflecting what little light his ship’s candles cast out into the darkness. It’s calm, he feels like a baby rocked in a cradle by his ocean mother, bare and swaddled in fur. He retracts his arms from around her, Leitandi sturs from deeper within the pile of fur blankets.
“ You have to trust in yourself. Don’t let yourself drown. ”     He offers a little push, literally, toward the edge of the ship. It will be cold but he won’t tell her that,     “ Leave your furrs with me, I will keep them safe. ”
"I'm not a very strong swimmer..." Willow murmurs, smiling a bit. Her skin glows, rosy-cheeked and fresh with new life, as they look out on the waves. Adam is dead. For now, that simple fact is a cure to the dark cloud above her head. She rests her head against @krakahe's broad shoulder and looks out at the sea with a content sigh.
It's pitch-dark, the land looks far away and the moon's light bounces off the little ripples of the waves as far as the eye can see.
"...But I'm tempted to jump in. Do you promise not to let me drown if I do?"

His rough fingers card through her silky, long hair, one hand never leaving her waist. He take a moment to appreciate her — the smell of her perfume and the way for dappled forest light reflects in her eyes. He forgets himself for a moment, leaning down to kiss her with a hunger rarely afforded to others, and even when he pulls away that hunger is still in his eyes. He devours her with his gaze.
“ I’ve been here, silly girl, all you have to do is come find me, ”     he speaks into her lips, bearing his teeth in a charming smile,     “ Or invite me over. ”
Willow doesn't take her eyes off of his face but the final button loosens the fabric of her dress enough to let it fall at her feet; she shudders at the exposure, at his warm hands on her skin. Still waiting she leans against him almost helplessly, smiling wide at his praise. He was hoping to see her? He wanted her here with him? She nods, hanging off of his every word.
"I miss you when you're not here."

“ I’m glad you came, ”     Einár’s lips curl into a smile — he has always found it so charming how polite she is despite the hunger that lives so deep inside.  He decides against telling her that he knows of her dream. He knows of most of them. And he decides not to tell her that some of them are sent to her, like the one last night. Warm, large hands run down the small of her back.
“ I was hoping to see you soon. It’s always such a treat when you come to visit me. ”
She tries not to appear so surprised when he arrives, though she does stop slightly in her actions, wide-eyed and frozen in motion as another button pops loose on her clothes. Pulled close, her lips part in a breathless smile and those dark brown eyes flutter up at him with adoration. Worship, some might say. Another button.
"I dreamed of you," Willow says sweetly, her eyes on his mouth. Waiting permission, perhaps. "I knew I had to come."

The trees carry her voice to him. He feels the throb of her heart through the roots in the ground — he’s proud to see how she has connected herself so easily with the woods now. With him. He spreads his wings and takes to the sky, where the leaves on the trees point him to her. He descends upon her in a cloud of crows, his feathers receding back into his cloak as large, strong arms wrap around her waist to pull her close. Her skin is warm against his body, and he smiles.
“ You called? ”     he pushes hair from her face, gazing down lovingly at Willow as her fingers work on the buttons of her dress.
Lonely once again, Willow wanders without a destination in mind - but is not aimless. Directionless, absolutely, no idea where she is headed, but very clearly on a search. A hunt, maybe, though what strange attire for a hunt! Her jacket discarded a few minutes ago, her shoes, her cardigan… it isn’t cold enough to warrant a shiver, but she shivers nonetheless. All the while her soul calls out, her heart — she begins to unbutton her dress.
“ @krakahe - “ She whispers, “Are you there?”

His feet could not move him fast enough to be at her side, so he took to the skies in a hurry and sensing his urgency the forest parted for him. Trees moved their branches, bushes leaned to the side. Hosts of crows and coyotes followed in his wake as he sought to find Willow.
And find her he did, as well as the other. The unwanted. Violent and nasty, taking what he doesn’t deserve. Fury was the natural response. Fury was a kinder word for the hatred that bubbled violently within Einár. He debated taking care of the problem right then and there, when Willow’s attacker tries to run from the mess he has made — but he stops himself. No, this is not his fury to deliver.
So with Willow slung over his shoulder and a leash made of a leather belt placed chokingly firm around Adam’s neck, Einár retreated further into the woods, yipping coyotes nipping at the heels of Adam to keep him moving forward.
This building in the woods is much larger than the other driftwood shacks made into shrines. This was a cabin with doors and shutters and a patched roof — his home on land, somewhere that is and isn’t. Somewhere in between — not one has seen this home until now. But now Adam has, intimately familiar with being bound to the structure outside. And now Willow has, delicately laid on his bed of furs and straw stuffed linens. Her soiled clothes are replaced by his softest tunic, her hair is brushed and tucked behind her ears. He sits at her bedside, running a cool rag over her as she rests, battling wave after wave of blinding rage. Adam’s fate, after all, is for Willow to decide.
Einar, find me. Einar. It’s a prayer that she makes as she runs through the woods. She’s silent running through these trees in comparison to her pursuers heavy, angry step. Shouting after her. Clutching his eye, Adam runs through the dark after her clumsy shadow. She bumps into the trees, she stumbles, but for the most part the redwoods appear to part for her, their forms multiplying and stretching out as she runs and runs and runs. She’s forgotten she is monster. She has forgotten all but the dull pain moving inside of her and the nausea.
It’s a literal prayer. She has made her offerings, she has wandered along paths of clover and laid down against the moss, she knows him. Willow, though she has forgotten her name, knows that Einar will come - that he will hear her and find her. But for now she runs.
A hand on her shoulder pulls her down. Pushes her against the forest floor and crushes her. Anger that smells like cinnamon. She hits her head on the way down and screams a guttural scream as she remembers what is about to happen now that she’s been caught. Another hit across the face. She gasps, stunned. She takes another hit. And another.
Calloused hands grip her throat and her jaw, forcing her to look. There are three attackers above her now, spinning, and she’s frightened. So frightened that her vision slips from her, her mind stretches and snaps into place. Clarity. Finally.
She opens her black eyes and her fanged mouth and without a warning snarl, bites at her attackers arm. The man screams, of course he does, and stumbles off of her. Away. Prey become monster. Her vision fades as she sees Adam turn his back on her and run headfirst into @krakahe’s chest. A small smile plays on her face as she’s lost once again to the darkness.
