I still have some things to spell out and finalize, but Reiji is already mentally hurting.

What was originally just a headcanon that came out of nowhere is now a way to dig deeper into the character.

I didn't even expect it to work like this.

People with blood type AB are complex and multifaceted individuals and can be unpredictable or contradictory. Diplomacy, sharp mind, difficulty in making decisions.

Mido and Shimura's blood type is AB and I think it gives a lot of room for, fantasy about their interactions beyond what we see in the anime and manga.

"Shimura can't be Kira, after all, he's the one who came running to me crying that he couldn't take it anymore".

I think any coincidences in the universe are not random and now I can't help but think about it.

Once again feeling wistful that men with potential have not been revealed properly.

Almost 2 weeks since the last chapter was posted. Hello, though. Only 4 pages out of the planned 10.

Continuing to build up the atmosphere to the max so I can get back to the slow narrative later.

Getting ready to let new (but canon) characters into the scene. Fans of Jevanni and Mikami, get ready. The good boy will make his first appearance.

So, it's been exactly three weeks since the last chapter was published. For the first time in all the time I've been writing (which is a full 10 months, crazy), I haven't added any parts because I've been studying the material. I try to write authentically and I've read something from time to time before, but this is the first time the research has taken this long. I figured out what to build off of and found what I needed to read extra to pass the vibe.

New chapter in progress (yay, I had time to miss those idiots). It's hard to say when it will come out because I'm unpredictable here, with inspiration and enough thoughts I can write 10 pages in an evening. Just wish me luck with it.

When you want to kill off a main character and then you can't because you'll cry a lot, because you're attached to him - is that normal at all?

My attempt to participate inctober continues to be successful, although I'm not drawing according to the rules. I guess I decided to try just to challenge myself. I'm 2/3 of the way through and have some of my favorite cards.

Wow, that's a lot of letters.

While there's a lull in our creative chat with the girls, I'll be pouring out my thoughts here, if you don't mind. Warning, the author is attempting to analyze the characters.

My first attempt to write something really serious and voluminous led me to a successfully purchased textbook on the history of political and legal doctrines.

As long as I have the spirit, I managed to write an intermediate chapter (again, because I had half of the material ready in advance, otherwise I would not have published new parts at such a speed). I'm proofreading and editing for now, I think I'll post today, but when the next chapter will be out is the big question, guys. But it's better to try to immerse yourself in a topic and spend more time than to publish quickly and screw it up.

What I was thinking while I was spelling out the part.

Shimura must be having a really hard time living in Japan. At least after what happened. He's a decent citizen, he knows how to keep his face in public, and he's generally a nice guy. But basically, what he has:

-public shame

-he tends to isolate himself from the few people he has close to him.

-he needs support, but because of his perceived isolation and fear of judgment, he is now more alone than ever, as a consequence of which he has a huge internal conflict. His inner Japanese is suffering a bit (probably suffering a lot) also because he's been affected by the presence of an almost-daughter-American in his life and has spent a lot of time with a half-American recently, and the culture is very different between the nations

I'm guessing Namikawa has influenced Shimura more than anyone suggests, but not enough to make Suguru sick of himself. On the plus side comes Mido, who until recently was an integral part of Namikawa, and the traits of school friends are reflected in each other. I don't know if I did a good job of reflecting it, but Mido is so shy a bit, but emotional in informal settings and a true Shingo not quite up to Japanese standards. And now Shimura feels an inner conflict between the fact that as a Japanese he needs to save face and his inner humanity without gender, nation or age, just a man who wants to be understood and heard. And Shimura precisely lacks the ability (or nurturing) to express all that he feels, and he's simmering in this cauldron of complex emotions that are tearing him apart, alone.

-Now discussing the development of this thought with my psychologist friend, but I'll just leave it here for now. It seems to me that Shima has a new problem in the form of a complicated relationship with Mido in light of recent circumstances

Another goal of writing this piece is to expose as many Yutsuba men as possible as human beings, and so far that goal has not been achieved. So besides the misadventures of the main characters, we'll be treated to mentions of Hatori, Higuchi and his family, Kida doing shit, and Ooi desperately trying to keep things under control.

I've been writing this work for 8 months now. Honestly - I don't know how many pages it takes. I thought I was about halfway there now, but I guess I still have more to write.

I DID IT. The Yotsuba canon arc is finished. I'm going to set sail. I'm up to a lot of shit. Poor Mido and Shimura. I've had this chapter in mind for a long time and have been writing bits and pieces for months. I've been telling myself "woman, goddamn it, stop crying" because the emotions were running high. Beyond, welcome back.

Hell, work time isn't the right time to think about it, but I can't wait until tonight to script the very scene where Shimura ruins Namikawa's perfect day. I've been thinking about including it in the story for a long time, but it was just now that I clearly saw that scene.

Hedcanon on my work: often after Steph refused to fuck with Beyond, he secretly wrote vanilla poems about love in his room at night, and then ate them mixed with strawberry jam.

obsessed with the idea of higuchi, namikawa, and hatori drinking together on fridays as the My Dad’s A Yotsuba Higher-up trio. it’s entirely habitual but no one knows exactly how it started. higuchi hates namikawa and hatori, namikawa hates hatori and finds higuchi irritating, and hatori thinks higuchi and namikawa both have serious problems. they rotate between which two are subtly (or not subtly in higuchi’s case) banding together to bully the other one

Every day I wake up and mourn the fact that the Death Note musical didn’t adapt the yotsuba arc, which means we never got a “we’re an evil corporation doing evil things” song for the yotsuba eight a la This Jesus Must Die in JCS 2012
