for @sempaiko, thank you for the help! Hope you enjoy a little teaser for the Sansan fic <3
[Takes place at the same time as The Oath [Braime Bodyguard AU], Sansa is trying to figure out the man who seems to always be there at the right time to help her in and out of her family’s coffee shop]
Sansa had served many types of customers at her family’s coffee shop. Young and old, grouchy and tired, quiet and boisterous. None of which had caught her attention as much as the man who always ordered black coffee and nestled at the far end of the half bar that was near the counter for those who planned to just enjoy their beverage of choice and then dip out.
The man with the dark beanie and heavy coat came in before Sansa’s shift, already perched in his spot. Sometimes she’d see him with a book but often times it was just him and his coffee. At the most, he gestured for a refill, but beyond that, she got nothing from him which was just as well. She didn’t have time to worry about one man when she was always on her feet trying to help everyone else. But, her curiosity was peaked.
It wasn’t long before she began asking the others what they knew about him. Of which, was barely anything. He was an outdoorsman, a few people had spotted him in the mountains with an ax which could have meant just about anything. He came into town a handful of times throughout the week to stock up on groceries, and to grab coffee. That last tidbit was something she had already known since he seemed to favor their homebrew over the more popular establishments.
Sansa wasn’t entirely sure why she was pulled towards him, but she found herself trying to pick up little ticks. She could have been more subtle about it, she thought once Tyrion Lannister had taken her aside the next time he had come in to ask her about it.
“What’s going on with you two?” His eyes shifting between Sansa at the man at the end of the bar. Tyrion was much too inquisitive, but he had always done by right by her when she asked. So why she hadn’t yet was baffling in itself.
“Nothing.” She paused, “Wait do you know him?”
“Of course, San-we went to university together for a little while.” He backtracked as if he was suddenly amused by only giving her as little information as possible. “We’re not particularly close.”
Sansa gave him a nod in acknowledgment. “Interesting. Anyway, how are you Tyrion?” She returned to the normal script of their friendship.
Tyrion had the urge to roll his eyes, instead taking a bite out of his cherry danish. An urge to meddle was making itself known.
Sansa was closing up a few weeks later. She had woken up later this morning, causing her to switch shifts with her brother Robb. She didn’t complain, only apologized for the inconvenience and got herself prepared for a long day.
In truth of all the things that could go wrong, this wasn’t terribly bad. She had just gotten really invested in a romance novel before bed and couldn’t put it down. She still had twenty or so pages of it left to finish reading, she had left it at home to ease the temptation.
All in all the working day hadn’t been the worst. She had gotten low on the change once and started to panic before Mr. Mysterious-in-a-Beanie slammed down a forty dollar bill as a tip before leaving without a word. This had bugged her, and she was pretty sure that she was going to give him a piece of her mind the next time she saw him. He hadn’t even let her thank him. You have to let people thank you, it was the courteous thing to do.
She couldn’t have run after him then, there had been a long line of people, and the team was already working extra hard to try to handle it all in that time. She had filed it, for later.
The keys had a way of getting stuck during lockup at times. She had asked her dad to put an order for either a new lock or a new set of keys altogether. He still hadn’t gotten around to doing either. She would have to do it herself, she knew.
She gave it one more hard turn before turning around and nearly colliding into someone who had to have been there for a while. “You the owner?” She knew a sleazeball when she saw one, greasy hair made it worse with the man who could barely move let alone speak.
She kept the keys in her hand, in a tight fist. She thanked the stars that her brother had given her a course in self-defense for cases like this. It hadn’t been the first time.
“One of them.” She stated, with a forced grin. As she moved to the side, the man followed. She sighed knowing this was going to be a problem. She added another note for the next family meeting that wasn’t for a few days: she wouldn’t mind having a guard around if they could afford it, or at least keep someone around so they creeps would know to back off.
She turned around walking backward intending on verbally ending this debacle if she could, the second obstacle seemed to rear its head. She had hit another wall in the form of a person. They were taller, and as she tilted her head up she realized that it wasn’t just any person. Beanie guy again, she didn’t have time to really have a good look at his face. She knew it was scarred and that he tried to hide his face because of that.
He had his hand on her shoulder for half a second, before carefully moving her to the side and blocking the greasy man’s path. “Go home, old man.” He grunted.
“Oh c’mon. I meant no harm really.” He lied.
Her savior didn’t budge at all. As if to say if the sleazy didn’t get a move on he wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty, Sansa knew that that was the truth. He looked very capable.
The man must have tried to move closer because next time she heard the sound of a body on the ground.
“Didn’t hit him that hard. Typical.” He peered down at her, “You should get home.”
Sansa nodded but couldn’t take her eyes off the body on the ground. She hoped he wasn’t dead. She would feel bad. Upon closer inspection the man’s breathing was visible.
“Thanks.” She mumbled before starting to head down to the corner on the other side of the street. She paused, turning back around. “Hey, what’s your name?”
He was bending down over the guy he had knocked out and trying to get him into a sitting position against the nearest building. He ignored her.
“Hey!” She tried again.
“Clegane.” He slightly turned towards her, before thinking better of it. “Now, get going.”
Clegane was not his first name. She pursed her lips. “Clegane. Your next cup of coffee is on me,” she called.
Clegane turned to tell her that he didn’t need the charity but she was out of view. He cursed. Damn woman.
this will be a full fic/properly fleshed out, etc, probably after I finish The Oath. It’s nice to start thinking about this one a bit since there will be hints throughout the other fic. I’ll have to figure out a title too haha

TAKES ITS TOLL IS BACK!!!!!
Remember Takes Its Toll? My magnum opus? The Sansan piece I never should have deleted? WELL IT’S BACK!! Tune back in for all 35 chapters of this beauty, now back and better than ever.
A rootless woman meets a fearless man. Or, how a woman puts down roots and a man finally gains something he’s afraid to lose.
Less serious summary: Sansa works in a tollbooth. Romance with a side of DRAMA, mama. Lots of complex emotions and human beings making mistakes. NOTE: This piece was up before, but some people didn’t get to finish reading it. I kind of regret deleting it, as it was very popular and I am very proud of it! Ultimately, I learned a lot from converting it into an original novel, but Amazon wasn’t where it belonged. It belongs with you, my fellow Sansan fans. I love you all!

Indie Game Spotlight: Florence
In honor of Valentine’s Day, we knew this week’s Indie Game Spotlight had to focus on love. Today we’re celebrating the one year anniversary of Florence. Winner of Best Mobile Game 2018 at The Game Awards and recipient of Apple’s Design Award, Florence tells a story of our protagonist, a 25-year-old named Florence who meets her first love, a cello player named Krish. Each level is a different minigame vignette that tells the story primarily through the gameplay and visuals rather than words.
We were able to talk with Sam Crisp, a programmer at Mountains—the craft game studio that created this lovely game—about Florence, falling in love, and new ways to tell stories in games.
How did the initial idea behind Florence come to fruition?
We wanted to make a new kind of mobile game that no one had done before. One that was intimate and emotional and that would appeal and resonate with anyone, even if they didn’t play games at all. We started by playing around with the idea of solving a series of jigsaw puzzles that could tell a story through the metaphors of putting broken things back together. What does it mean when there’s a piece missing from a jigsaw, or if the pieces don’t fit together? Pretty soon we realized we were making a game about the struggles of love.
How did the team choose to focus on modern love relationships?
We need more romance in games! They’re universal stories, and everyone on the team could bring a lot of their own experiences to making the game. Stories about modern love are huge in every media form but are still underrepresented in game stories, despite the fact that games exploring this theme are some of the most interesting and forward-thinking games out there! But practically, we knew we wanted to make a game about a single person going through change in their life. And first love is one of the most transformative experiences we could hone in on.
In Florence, there is a mini-game to create dialogue through a puzzle system. How did the team come up with the concept?
We came up with a lot of ideas for minigames, and the jigsaw puzzle was one of the earliest that still remains in the final game. We had this important scene where Florence and Krish were getting to know each other for the first time and we were trying to find a way to represent that in a minigame. So we asked ourselves, what does it feel like when you go on a date with someone and you go from being nervous and awkward to breaking the ice and feeling like you get along with someone? And we tried out the idea of having to physically make conversation by putting these jigsaw puzzles together, and have the puzzles get easier over time, and the idea just worked. When we got people to play that level and try it out, they understood right away what was happening.
The game can be referred to as a “slice of life.” How was Florence able to gamify everyday experiences?
The interactive language of smartphones and games provide a lot of readymade metaphors for us to work with. For instance, the level Moving In takes the “inventory tetris” from games like Diablo and maps that onto the rituals of compromise involved in cohabitating with someone. Also when Florence is stuck in a bad routine, we made repetitive minigames out of everything, like doing accounting at her day job, scrolling through social media, and even talking to her mum on the phone, in order to show that she’s treating everything in her life as rote, and that she thinks everything is a chore! We went through a lot of trial and error with many different ideas of how to turn everyday life into minigames and what you see in the final game are the ones that worked the best.
How do imagery and colors relay the characters’ inner state?
We don’t have much text, talking or traditional narration in Florence at all so we had to communicate everything to the player through imagery and interaction. Florence’s life starts out dull, colorless and repetitive. When we flashback early in the game and see her as a child, we see that her life used to be full of color but now it’s full of grays. When she meets Krish, he brings color to her life, and that’s the first time we see the color yellow in the game. And at the end of the game when Florence truly finds herself we introduce green to the color palette. The color motifs are subtle but very effective. And there are similar techniques used in the melodies of the music too.
It’s been a year since Florence has been out! What has happened in the past year and what’s next for the team?
The response we’ve had to Florence has been amazing. The game has resonated with all sorts of people all over the world. We’ve had people write in telling us that they played the game at a difficult time in their lives and that the story helped them work through what they were going through. And we’ve seen people be inspired by Florence to make their own games using similar storytelling techniques but telling their own unique story, which everyone here at Mountains is thrilled to see. Right now we are hard at work on the next thing, and we hope to have something to share with you soon!
Already in love with Florence? The good news is it can be purchased at the App Store through Google Play. iam8bit has announced the upcoming release of a vinyl soundtrack for the critically acclaimed mobile game. Accompanying this slice of life story is a gentle, charming, and emotional score composed by Kevin Penkin, now available for pre-order at the iam8bit store.

I just learned about the “Husband Stitch” a few days ago and i’m still fucking mortified. Women’s bodies do not exist for the pleasure of their boyfriends or husbands.
Doctors who perform this procedure without the consent of the pregnant person are evil misogynists, undeserving of the privilege of working with pregnant women and other people.

HEY ARTISTS!
Do you design a lot of characters living in not-modern eras and you’re tired of combing through google for the perfect outfit references? Well I got good news for you kiddo, this website has you covered! Originally @modmad made a post about it, but her link stopped working and I managed to fix it, so here’s a new post. Basically, this is a costume rental website for plays and stage shows and what not, they have outfits for several different decades from medieval to the 1980s. LOOK AT THIS SELECTION:
OPEN ANY CATEGORY AND OH LORDY–
There’s a lot of really specific stuff in here, I design a lot of 1930s characters for my ask blog and with more chapters on the way for the game it belongs to I’m gonna be designing more, and this website is going to be an invaluable reference. I hope this can be useful to my other fellow artists as well! :)
Did you find this helpful? If you’re able, maybe buy me a coffee please? :D

Therosenpants - “The Music Lovers”
.

As for recommendations..
I MUST emphasize that I HAVE VERY LITTLE TIME to read any fanfiction these days (most of my free time is spent drawing for you all!! *wigglingeyebrows*).
In fact, just a bit before I even joined tumblr I read a good handful of published Poto based books that I’ll recommend below!!!
So because of that I don’t really have any fanfic recommendations for you atm :’‘‘(
I realize that you asked for writers (and perhaps you meant if I had drawn for writers before I added phantomtrashcan loll woops), but I thought I would add in artists as well who ALSO have drawn for writers/fanwork, and that just ended up with me listing all kinds of poto content blogs… (I hope you don’t mind)
I had answered an ask for artists a month back, but for the sake of helping you and others find more content creators I’ll be posting them again ((sorry for tagging all of you again, but I feel like it’s a good idea to update it once more)) and add some others I’ve seen in the past month!

ASpectralShade (I think on tumblr somewhere?????) Wattpad Fic
(There are many many more of you I know it, but I just don’t have the sources so if anyone knows any writers, or are a writer, please add yourself in the comments!)

I DO NOT MEAN TO FORGET YOU IF I DID I’VE BEEN WRITING THIS SINCE 3 AM AAAAAAAAAAA SO I’M SURE I HAVE MISSED SOME PEOPLEhnnnnnnnnnnng
.
.
Bonus Books!
I’m throwing these in here because I just wanna share them anyway if anyone was interested haaaaaaaaaa ((and I most definitely will be doing fanart for them!!!))
These are just some of the published poto based books/kindles that I’ve read that I personally enjoyed :’‘‘))) I think SOME are on tumblr, but I wouldn’t know because I can’t seem to find them so I’m sending you to their amazon pages haaaa
Michelle Rodriguez
“The Hero Beneath The Villain’s Mask” was my first of her many works and will be one of my top favorites! Her Manifestations series is great too! (Her most recent one is toP NOTCH SO GREAT????)
Catherine Miller
“A Rose In Winter” iS MY NUMBER 1 no question no doubt. Completely Leroux based and what I kind of imagine my vers. of Erik to be like. (Very long and fluff read) Her other books, “A Civic Duty” and “The Phantom’s Witness” were also great!! Set in modern times :’‘‘)
Ann Maggard
“Mystery Behind the Mask” was SUCH a fun (and long) read!!! VERY long, but each page had me turning!! The story itself could have just been an original and it would have been fine, but since all the characters are from POTO it just makes it more interesting to read. (Daroga plays a huge part in this story). Her other 2 books are also Poto based!
Davyne DeSye
“For the Love of the Phantom” (2 book series) real fun fluff books! Love how she writes :’‘‘‘‘‘)))))))))
((There are more books, but I won’t swarm you with them))
((If you need to know any warnings that might disturb you message me since these are things you would have to pay for before reading))
