Heretic(?) - additional/cut Heinrix dialog - Part II
So in the localization file I found more dialog between Uralon and Rogue Trader and companions, including Heinrix.
It seems Uralon would reveal more information about Theodora and you would then have a more or less unpleasant conversation with Heinrix (I tried to find something matching but it is distributed a bit, so no idea if the dialog even belongs together):
Heinrix cringes as if he has just heard a profanity and looks at you askance.
The Interrogator regards you with a point-blank stare. "The suspicions surrounding von Valancius have been confirmed, even though the source of the new information is less than reliable. Dabbling in the forbidden arts seldom ends well, does it, {name}?"
Heinrix clears his throat. "If you expect me to forget what I just heard, you are mistaken. The accusation levied by the Archenemy's spawn at your predecessor, {name}. His admission that Theodora was consorting with cultists and caused the downfall of Kiava Gamma. How long did you intend to hide it?"
RT: "He was lying! How can you fall for such an obvious ploy by our common enemy to sow distrust among us?"
Persuasion fail?
"Do not speak to me of lies, Rogue Trader — I have faced them often enough to recognise a liar when I see one. We will revisit this conversation at a better time and discuss this lie, as well as what I presume are many others."
Persuasion success?
The Interrogator stays silent for a while. "It is possible. It is possible this is exactly what happened. But such a grave accusation is a cause for concern even if it comes from a servant of Chaos. It is a shame we could not capture the cursed Astartes alive to pry the truth out of him..."
RT: "What makes you think I would hide the fact one of my forebears was enterprising enough to trade a backwater world for ancient treasures and secrets? On the contrary, I am proud of her."
Check fail?
Heinrix's gaze becomes vacant as if he is purposely not looking at you. "Corruption runs in the blood from one generation to another, Rogue Trader. It would appear you have not escaped its grasp. We will revisit this conversation."
Check success?
"No — it is a shame that millions of people were sacrificed to serve her ego and greed rather for the good of the Golden Throne." Heinrix's gaze sweeps over you. "That would have been a worthy use of the resource."
RT: "I had no intention of hiding anything — but the time wasn't right. Or do you think that villainous heresy perpetrated by one's forebear is something that can be casually broached in snatched moments between fending off enemies?"
Persuasion fail?
"A convenient delay, hoping that hastiness and lack of attention would keep the von Valancius dynasty's little secret safe. I do not believe you, Rogue Trader. But we will revisit this later, once the circumstances are more convenient for us both."
Persuasion success?
Heinrix's eyes bore into you, then he closes them with a sigh. "Let us assume this is indeed the case. But remember — such hesitation may cost you more than a brief quarrel in the future."
RT: "Theodora may have tainted herself by consorting with Chaos, but I will correct her mistakes." (likely the wrong text but something about killing Uralon to save people I suppose)
Heinrix's expression relaxes a little. He nods. "Indeed, may the Emperor protect their wretched souls from the monsters of the warp. We must stop the Apostle before even more people die."
To Uralon:
Heinrix allows himself a thin mirthless smile. "Such a hollow trick, servant of Chaos. Leave the half-truths and deceptions for your sycophants, not servants of the Emperor."
And Uralons response:
Uralon's laughter sounds like distant peals of a warning bell. "Corpse emperor's dog, I will enjoy each moment of your suffering."
-> Just fyi - Uralon calls not only Heinrix a dog:
"Collusion is not the word one should use to describe the blind. You dogs of the corpse emperor, you all fancy yourselves paragons of courage and virtue, but a single promise of what your feeble hearts truly desire makes you forget your oaths and indulge in passions you have been suppressing for so long."
Some more of RTs lines that I liked:
"It was the Dark Apostle again. He confirmed what he had been hinting at before — Theodora was in contact with him and availed herself of the gifts of Chaos."
"Hmm. No pain, no torture. Your sorcery no longer has the power to hurt me, does it?"
-> It seems Uralon was at least one point projectioning again, not been there in person
You notice a slight twitch of his eyebrows — your words have clearly stung Uralon. The giant leans toward you before shooting back, "The psyker who connected our minds does not have the power to hurt you. But I do."
"Have you considered that recruiting works best when you offer the mark something valuable instead of 'Kneel, worm, I will make use of you'?"
"I have already found a good use for my soul, not to mention my body, so please excuse me as I reject your generous offer."
And here more lines from Uralon:
About Theodora:
"So much naivety and bravado. {name}, I wonder if your friends know about our little secret? Do they know they are fighting for the heir of a heretic and the servant of the Truth who sold me her world for a few tall tales about distant treasures?"
Uralon's face splits into a grin. "A long time ago, even before Kiava Gamma opened its gates to me, I looked for opportunities. Opportunities to reach this world. Opportunities to subjugate those who could help me forge weapons of war. Opportunities to serve my master while avoiding unnecessary wars and disruptions."
"The gifts of prophecy bestowed upon us by the master allow us to lift the veil of obscurity over the lost and forgotten treasures of the universe. Coordinates of a lost world brimming with riches, directions to a sector full of xeno-artefacts, tales of a dead vessel whose hold is stuffed with valuable cargo... Your predecessor never asked whether the source of her newfound prosperity was pure. In the end," Uralon speaks softly, not bothering to hide his malicious glee, "it was I who led her to a treasure the likes of which the Expanse had never seen before."
"Each mortal is a lock that calls for a matching key. Ones like you and your predecessor are driven by avarice. Approaching Theodora was not easy, but an overlooked flaw in her entourage and a suitable lure was all it took… No Rogue Trader can resist the call of profit, and Theodora's will faltered when I promised her treasure beyond her wildest dreams."
"That pittance was enough to keep the Rogue Trader away from Kiava Gamma and the Fabricator-Censor who laid the foundations for the coup. Theodora paid me with this world — a fair exchange, though she was unaware of it. One way or the other, you are her heir and you are here, trying to claim what is not yours. The temerity of Imperial worms will not go unanswered. Kneel like your pathetic dynasty was meant to, and I may find a better use for your body and soul."
The psyker that Uralon used to contact RT - > Uralon is going to sacrifice him
"Do you not recognise the one who reached out and touched your mind, human?" Uralon makes a small gesture — compelled by some monstrous force, the exhausted man moans and crawls closer to the Chaos Space Marine. "This is my personal vox, {name}. A psyker telepath has another use aside from dying on the altar — to serve as liaison for his master. But the potential of this tool is exhausted."
About Kiava Gamma
"It is as if a gargantuan beast stirs under your feet — tremors roll down the shaft, and a low menacing rumble makes the walls tremble. "Do you hear this roar, Rogue Trader? Terebrum longs to accept its final sacrifice. The ascension of Kiava Gamma is at hand."
"Quite the contrary, Rogue Trader. A daemonic world spawned from a planet with such infrastructure will become a foundry releasing hundreds and thousands of engines of Truth into the world every passing day. Once the metamorphosis is complete, Kiava Gamma will become the jewel in the necklace that is the Final Dawn."
Different location and Uralon being present in flesh?
"Uralon looks even more imposing in the flesh. A hulking figure clad in power armour turns to you, small flickers of warp flame still dancing at his fingertips — traces of recent sorcery. When the apostle begins to speak, the walls of the massive well echo his every word."To do the will of my lord in front of the last member of the Rogue Trader dynasty that once called this world their own! Such delightful irony, is it not? Step forward and meet your fate, the final sacrifice on my altar."
"You are standing at the top of the Terebrum, a spear of Chaos that will pierce this world's heart and make the planet serve the Primordial Truth. Powered by the reactors made at Kiava Gamma and imbued with the suffering of those who anointed its hull with their blood, it is already poised above its intended target. It requires but one last sacrifice — that of the sovereign of this world, whose soul will forever be tormented to feed the planet's core with unrelenting agony."

Another beautiful piece of Venria and Heinrix from Obol 💖 visualising a scene from Immortalium.
She threw a longing gaze at Heinrix. It could be their last moments, their last words. “I...” she was thinking what to say. Surely he knew by now how she felt about him. Was there even any need to say anything?
Heinrix reached out for her hip and pulled her towards him, gazing deep into her eyes before he leaned down to kiss her. It felt different from the night before – it wasn't only desire that fuelled them right now; it was desperation and fear, their goodbye a last sign of the affection they felt. They kept on holding tight, afraid to let go and losing each other forever.

One of my absolute favorite in-game moments and the solidifying event of Vis' friendship with Jae. More RPGs/CRPGs should make a point to include platonic events with companions and not gatekeep bonds between characters behind romances.
This is the good shit that sells me on companions and in-game worlds. I want my character to be bonded to these freaks through drunken, havoc-inducing situations that will be on the front page of every trashy tabloid this side of The Maw!
You just know both Abelard and Heinrix were in full meltdown mode by the end of the night.

so much of heinrix's guilt around romance and relationships comes from his desire for more than his duty allows him.
during the conversation after kiava gamma, on the devil path, heinrix doesn't demur when asked about his past relationships - 'fleeting dalliances', he calls them, and he seems to be enjoying himself as he narrows his eyes at the rogue trader, anticipating their response. it's only if the rogue trader says they meant more than that, more than just those 'fleeting dalliances', that he closes himself off again.
Tumblr media
the same thing comes up during the conversation after the magnae accessio. "my duty comes first, even before myself," he says. "in our position, i can allow myself very little. and for you it is no different, really."
as an agent of the holy ordos, as a servant of the golden throne, any relationship that cannot be set aside for his responsibilities, any relationship that might take time or attention or devotion away from his work - anything more - isn't something he can allow himself. especially with the rogue trader, who he has been tasked with surveilling by the inquisition.
and his desire for more is what shames him. he was allowed to live by the imperium, anathema though he is - how could he want anything more than to serve it?
that's what he confesses, frozen nearly to death in the rogue trader's quarters.
Tumblr media
heinrix believes he has a duty to the inquisition, to the imperium, to humanity and the god-emperor of mankind. he let himself think that maybe, just maybe, he could have what he wanted and be with the rogue trader, too.

Mongrel Hearts | Chapter 21
Tumblr media
Pairing: Heinrix x Rogue Trader (Visenya von Valancius)
Read on Ao3
Summary: An attack on the Rogue Trader reveals the concerning state of affairs on Janus. And an unlikely ally is found in the Aeldari, Yrliet Lanaevyss. Author's Note: Happy Friday! It’s finally time for Yrliet to join our merry band of space nerds! With how important she is to Vis’ story, I’m stupid excited she’s finally here. Also, I am enjoying this bi-weekly pace for new chapters – and with Lex Imperialis coming out next week, I’m going to continue this pacing for a bit. I’d also like to figure out how to write Solomorne into the story, so that should give me some time to sort that out. Anyway, let’s get to it! And happy Lex Imperialis release (next week)! Next chapter will drop on July 4. Listening To: Livin' Laughin' Lovin' - Bilmuri & Hastings
Excerpt From Chapter 21: The Mess That I Am
Taking a moment, she tentatively lifted her eyes and blinked into the gloom. As her sight adjusted and the copse came into focus around her, both her mind and body stilled – senses flaring to life and absorbing the new and strange world beneath the trees.
Many people born on industrial and hive worlds often had trouble adjusting to the wide expanses of locations not as compartmentalized as their homes of origin. The enclosed spaces felt secure, while the yawning sky and vast fields of worlds like Janus felt vulnerable and unstable. Visenya, however, had never experienced the unease that came from standing below a sky with no end. She had resided on Rallion long enough to grow accustomed to the sensation of nothingness over one’s head; the port world left most of its atmosphere uncluttered due to the ceaseless comings and goings of freighter craft.
Trees, on the other hand, were an entirely new experience. She’d seen the occasional isolated tree here and there on spaceports – planted in dirt mounds along rockcrete walkways in an attempt to imbue some color into the hulking labyrinths of cold steel. They always somehow looked…sad. Gnarled and despondent, so obviously out of place. Expected to thrive in an environment hostile to them.
These were different. They were towering and regal, their canopies thick with foliage that rustled and whispered with each passing breeze. It was an ever-shifting ceiling of light, shadow and color encasing them in a world of birdsong and the mellow hum of life in every direction. Plasteel and rocrete were replaced by grass and bark, while fresh scents danced on the air rather than the smell of chemicals and oil. While it was nothing more than a small grove in the corner of the sprawling estate, it was the first time Visenya had ever stood amidst anything like it.

Dark Heresy doesn’t even have a release date yet, but I already wanted to make an inquisitor oc so badly. Even if I won’t play as him when the game is out, I’ve found use for him in Nyx’s story - Lucius interrogated him (and tortured), which affected Nyx’s damaged brain and changed his perception of the world (and made him kinda despise the inquisition duh)
