The sudden sound of books being dropped onto her table was enough to make her flinch. Looking up, she took in the appearance of the man before her. His attire was from a nation she didn't recognize, and a part of her wondered if the man was even from Teyvat in the first place.

"Of course," she replied promptly, her tone and expression one of seriousness. "One cannot prepare for battle, or enter into it without doing the work and rigorous training. Likewise, getting accustomed to a new place requires a certain amount of study." Just like how she had to study humans to live among them back in Inazuma, and how she needed to study and train in the art of warfare to become the Shogun's right hand general. This situation was no different; she would study and train as she always had, and she would do her best to fit in here.

Eavesdropping is not in his nature. Difficulty in maintaining that silence grows by the hour, as the sun climbs valiantly high over the isles and more people rise from the sea of sleep. By what appears to be midday the Archives are bustling with life. People from all corners of Aevum settle in for their dedication to studies or, perhaps like himself, seeking refuge from the outside for a precious moment of reprieve.

The voice filtering in from the opposing side of the impressively high row of books he's currently found fixation upon while holding one of many leatherbound titles he's borrowed is easy enough to ignore at first. ... but as the consistent deliberating among oneself drags on relentlessly, it is enough to earn his attention. Mydei frowns. From the sounds of it, another soul that does not belong here. Lost is not a word he prefers to become intimately familiar with. A map, huh? He'd seen something of the sort in one of the books he briefly browsed before. Middle shelf, somewhere near the far left... there it is.

He doesn't hesitate to round the corner and drop it onto the table before her.

"Tch, here. You were quarreling with your thoughts so loud you could raise an army. Of course, you'll need to read, but the greatest battles are only won by taking the initiative."

At the voice, Sara turned around. "A balance in my fashion sense?" She looked down at her own outfit, not noticing anything out of place.

Looking back up to him, she continued. "I do not see anything out of balance, or place with my wardrobe. Perhaps the tops, and that person's words are referring to something else.

Badou certainly isn't unfamiliar with the notion of just blurting out whatever to strangers, he's been on both ends, obviously, but out in the open while looking at some clothes is....a new one. That's a new one for him. He was just content to sit out here with a sandwich, hadn't even lit a new cigarette yet.

He takes a moment to consider her words.

"Maybe in your fashion sense? Not much of a fashionista, as you can see," he indicates the ugly coat he's got.

"...you got a little excited?" she repeated back, confusion evident in her expression. She knew that humans would often let out sounds of delight and excitement upon seeing something that caught their eye. She also knew that certain youkai, like Itto would often cheer aloud. Screaming, however, was a new one.

Her gaze then shifted to the beetle. "Hmm, it doesn't appear to be an onikabuto," she said, kneeling down to take a closer look at it. "What is special about this beetle?"

Wandering through the woods had become almost a daily occurrence since his arrival in these foreign lands. Being on a desert planet his entire life prior, it was no surprise—certainly not to himself, that he’d taken such a great liking to the flora and fauna. It gave him something to do when there otherwise was nothing. And it was genuinely just fascinating!

He had been in the process of inspecting some leaves in the moments before his yell, only noticing the disturbance he’d caused after the stranger approached him. To which he looks…slightly embarrassed. He usually never sees anyone out here. There’s no sign of injury. Just to his ego!

“ Oh—no ‘m fine. I got a lil excited. “

Anxiously rubbing at the back of his neck, he gestures toward the bush, specifically some sort of beetle settled upon one of its shiny leaves.

“ I’ve been looking for this guy. Documenting. Just fer fun. “

Sara stared at the tops she had been given, noting the colours adorning both of them. The duality of gold and silver, along with black and white wasn't lost on her, and those colours matched the ones she wore herself.

Then there were the words of the guardian who gave them to her. They had mentioned something about finding the correct balance in life, and when she thought back to her life in Teyvat, the words held a kernel of truth. She knew she was the type to put work and duty above all else, and it often resulted in fatigue and loneliness. She had been trained this way since a young age, and try as she might, Sara could not break free of it.

Looking back to the tops, a sudden thought struck her. "...are these tops supposed to help me figure out balance?"

After some walking, Sara had finally made her way to a place the locals called Eterna Village. Upon her arrival she was given a key with a number and the name of a place on it, which was her first lead to figuring out this strange place. It turned out that the village she ended up in would be where she was staying, though she had yet to find her place of residence.

"Excuse me!" She called out, hoping that someone would respond. "Could you tell me where '109' is?"

Leaving the large tower behind, Sara took off down the hill in the direction of the forests. While this could have potentially pushed her further from where she should be heading, something about the forests in the distance were calling to her. Perhaps it was the tengu blood running through her veins, or the desire to return to something familiar. Either way, it didn't take the tengu long to find herself among the trees once again.

As she strolled through the forest, the sights and sounds reminded her of Chinju Forest back home. Being able to hear the sounds of small animals and birds caused her to relax, and the scent of pine and other trees drew her back to her many strolls. In her limited off time she would leave her barracks and retreat to the forests surrounding Mt. Yogou. In her arms she would carry a bag of treats to feed the many small animals and youkai that made the forests their home.

A sudden cry snapped Sara from her thoughts. Immediately she rushed to the source of the sound, stopping when she came across a man. While he didn't appear to be in danger, she kept her guard up just in case.

"Are you alright?" she asked, looking him over for any sign of injury.

The more Sara stared at the phone in her hands, the more questions she had. How did this device work? Why did it keep beeping? Was this one of Fontaine's new inventions? What were all the little squares on the front of it that moved when she touched them?

More importantly: What was she supposed to do with this device, and how would it help her get used to this strange, new world?

"A curious device, indeed," she muttered, continuing to tap the little squares in the hopes of better understanding what exactly they did.

She didn't know which was more concerning: Awaking in a place that was not Teyvat, or the fact that she was stripped of her weapons while the vision attached to her hip failed to glow. For a general of an army, being without one's primary weapon was a matter of great concern. For someone who was blessed with a vision from the archon she served loyally, to have it no longer glow was alarming. Both were sources of power and strength, and without them she felt...lost.

Letting out a sigh, Sara closed her eyes to try and calm herself. Letting her emotions get the better of her was not fitting, and if her adoptive father would here he would surely be disappointed by her lack of discipline.

No, she needed to approach things calmly and come up with a plan.

"First I need to find out more about this place," she said quietly, not seeming to mind the possibility of being overheard. "Is there a map nearby, or should I ask some of the people who live here?" If she did the latter, would anyone even answer someone with a stern, authoritative demeanour?

Aevum Intro: The Kujou Sara Edition

A proud tengu warrior from Inazuma and the Shogun's right hand woman.

A military general who fights alongside her troops because she's no coward.

Adopted into a prestigious clan because the clan head thought she was some miracle child who would make their family prosper. Ended up treating her like shit because we must make the perfect child soldier!

Her real family is presumed dead due to enemies attacking her mountain home.

Was given her name by her adoptive father who turned out to be a piece of shit. (See point three)

Very rigid in both mind and spirit.

Is known to overwork herself and stick to a strict schedule that starts at five am.

Five is her favourite number, so everything is pretty much done in groups of five.

Has a variety of nicknames but will not hesitate to hand your ass to you should you disturb the peace. Looking at you, Itto!

After the Vision Hunt Decree and the war it sparked, Sara is busy trying to improve herself.

Something something heavily autism coded.

Something something family trauma.

Something something Genshin has been doing her dirty since Inazuma dropped but I love her too much to have her stay that way, so here we are!
