nagi makes you cry

it's not a common occurrence for you to cry around nagi

it's even more rare when he's the reason for your tears

but recently, you've been on your own more often

since he's always travelling for soccer or practicing

you felt neglected, honestly

so you decide on having a self care day

going to the spa, shopping, eating at your favorite cafe

anything you felt like doing, you did it

surprisingly when you got home, nagi was there

but judging by his expression, he didn't seem very happy

you smiled, asking how his day was

and all of a sudden, nagi snaps at you

claiming how 'the one day he ends practice early, you're not home'

you were irritated, obviously

you started arguing back, claiming how you always wait at home for him

the both of you get into it, yelling back and forth, your good day now ruined

the more you argue, the more you start giving up, tired from the bickering

then nagi says the one sentence you didn't want to ever hear

"god, i'm so sick of you already."

that was your breaking point

the tears you tried holding back started to flow

nagi had a look of shock on his face, finally processing what he said

"wait i didn't mea-"

"save it"

you twist off the promise ring he got you a couple years ago and throw it at him

"you have a crush on me?" friends to lovers, with iwaizumi hajime (27) athletic trainer bc i'm in a good mood :)

there are many downfalls to being best friends with oikawa tooru, as he proclaimed himself to be. for one, he has an army of fans from japan and argentina who blow up his posts and comments, and some of them leave rude and sly remarks and dig at your insecurities. secondly, his pride and ego make you want to strangle him sometimes. oikawa tends to forget to take care of himself, and while you're always willing to take care of him, you wish that he would take a step back for just a moment to rest.

but the biggest downfall of being his best friend, is that you're always around iwaizumi hajime.

iwaizumi hajime (27) athletic trainer, who greets you with a gentle smile and brings you close for a hug. you get a whiff of his cologne and near shiver at the way his hand presses against your back as he pulls you into an embrace. his voice is deeper than you remember and he asks how you're doing before he's interrupted by oikawa whining, "iwa-chan! you never hug me like that!"

oikawa narrowly avoids a slap to the back of his head. it doesn't stop the grin across his face and the way he wiggles his eyebrows at you.

when oikawa left for argentina, he watched through text messages and facetime calls as you and iwaizumi talked about one another to him. he had tried, numerous times, to get the both of you to simply confess, but was always shut down by some sort of sorry excuse.

but now, with all three of you sitting in a little izakaya, neither you or iwaizumi have the chance to runaway when oikawa loudly states, "iwa-chan's in love with you !"

the look that iwaizumi shoots him makes him wince, but he can't do anything about what his friend has said now. you stare at him, eyes wide, mouth parted slightly and noodles raised with chopsticks. oikawa mumbles something about going to the bathroom, leaving both you and iwaizumi staring at each other. there's a heat in your cheeks but you can't tell if it's from oikawa's words or from the heat of the izakaya.

"i-- uh-- i'm so sorry about him."

"you have a crush on me?" you both speak at the same time and you want to slap yourself for how childish the words sound coming out of your mouth. iwaizumi looks like he wants to bury himself into the ground or find oikawa and force him to say it was a joke. it's a mix of both but you don't need to know that.

"well, when you say it like that it sounds bad and i wouldn't say it's a crush-- well i don't want to make it sound like it's a this whole thing and-- i'm going to stop." iwaizumi clears his throat, looking around the table nervously as if he was going to find something that would help him. when he finds nothing, he starts to stand up, knee banging against the table and curses spilling from his mouth before he's apologizing over and over again.

"iwaizumi."

"this is so unprofessional of me. and i know that we're friends, yeah friends, but still i'm so sorry."

"hajime." he stops, half standing and hands pressed against the table. his eyes are wide, chest rising and falling like he's running out of breath. he looks like he's either about to cry to fight oikawa, both of which you would prefer not happen.

"i like you too." he doesn't seem to process your words for a second. so you reach out to grasp his wrist, tugging him to sit down. it's rather amusing, to see the same man who can yell at oikawa, the same man who whips the japan national volleyball team into shape, be at such a loss for words.

"you have a crush on me?" iwaizumi actually slaps a hand over his mouth and you can't fight the smile that stretches across your face. oikawa decides to make his appearance once more, shoving iwaizumi's shoulders down so he's sitting as he slides back into his seat next to him.

"now that everything's sorted out, i can talk about all the things you two were telling me, right?" oikawa's easy going grin makes both you and iwaizumi stare at him blankly. "like there was this one night when iwa-chan called me about this photo you posted and then you called me about how you miss iwa!"

you stare at oikawa then glance at iwaizumi. there's enough said in the silence for the two of you to come to an agreement.

"when we're done with him, would you like to get dinner?"
