One of my Star Wars pet peeves is when people (usually male fans tbh) say that Han was trying to aura farm or be suave when he said “I know.” Thats not how I read it at all. His tone isn’t cocky or humorous. It’s soft and gentle. This is a man who’s at a point where he’s not ready to be open or vulnerable enough to say “I love you too,” so he does it in the next best way he knows how: he comforts her. Up until recently, Han and Leia had spent most of their time together bickering or arguing. When you lose someone, it’s natural to agonize over what you should have said or done differently, and he doesn’t want that for her. So he reassures her. She has nothing to feel guilty about. In a time full of war and terror, that’s the one thing she doesn’t have to doubt.

He knows.

(Winter Soldier #6–14) – This arc quickly became one of my all-time favorites. The build-up is so tight and deliberate—it doesn’t waste a panel. From the very beginning, we get a clear picture of how emotionally dependent Bucky is on Natasha. It’s subtle at first, but it builds into something really vulnerable. And then comes Leo—easily one of the most compelling villains Bucky's ever had. The way Leo manipulates that dependency is just chef’s kiss writing. He doesn’t just fight Bucky physically; he plays him like a piano, turning every emotional beat into a trap Bucky charges right into.

And Bucky does fall—hard. We see him spiral, acting more rash and reckless than usual, losing his edge not because he’s weaker, but because he’s hurting. That’s what makes it hit so hard— he’s just desperate. And that desperation is weaponized against him in such a devastatingly smart way.

Gaaaah. The character feels so human and real. Painfully good storytelling.
