Nu’est Hello 2017 Version

Wow. Just wow.

Tbh, on the first listen, I thought it was a bit rough and unpolished, and was lowkey judging (don’t hate me yet, pls). But on the second listen (and third, fourth, fifth, sixth.... etc. LOL), I came to the conclusion that its all part of this version’s charm. It’s just so raw and packed with emotions. You can seriously, really, daebak, jeongmal, heol feel it. 

It really took me away from my usual fussing over production quality, mixing and mastering, instrumental complexity mumbo jumbo and instilled in me once again that music should reach out and touch people. And boyyyy did this one. Like, JR’s rap??? The emotion is so incredibly tangible. 

Bye now. Off to replay this a couple dozen times.

P101 opinions

Not really sure how this opinion will be taken, but I think it’s ok if the Pledis kids don’t get into the top 11.

If you guys have been following p101, like me, you may have fallen for all 4 of their charms. I had known of Nu'est before p101, but I still cannot believe how badly I’ve slept on such a wonderful group. They all have such unique, likeable characters and they’re chemistry is really so genuine and heartwarming (though unfortunately, this hasn’t really been shown much on the show).

Back to my original point, I think each one of them individually, regardless of ranking, has created quite a splash amongst the korean and international audiences. From the national leader, to the emperor, to the sexy bandit/megaton bomb (bar lol), to the shoulder gangster - I think they’ve achieved and have gone beyond their goal for joining the show. And that’s recognition and validation of their talents and characters.

Personally, although it would be nice to see them debut in the top 11 with my other p101 baes, I think I slightly prefer the pledis kids together (my heart cracks slightly as I write this 😭). Because let’s face it, what are the chances all 4 get into the top 11? Can you even imagine the public backlash from that? Sure they love the pledis kids now, but all 4 in top 11 is likely going to trash all their efforts so far. On the other extreme, if none of them get in, they can work off public sympathy and the new love they’ve gained and push Nu'est to a new height in their career.

Just some thoughts. Whatever happens though, I’m supporting all of them till the end. Bring on Friday!

When I was watching vids of Super Camp earlier in the year, Kyu was always so judgemental when Heechul danced to girl group songs. But now that I think about it, it’s really just so him to judge and then turn around and do a full-fledged solo girl group dance - and Cheer Up at that. :’)
