"Hey everyone! It’s Halsin Silverbough here with a surprise episode of Just As Nature Intended." 

Halsin pulls out a box as a massive Newfoundland’s head comes into view.

"Me and Ormn here were down by the lake having a swim when we found this little guy tangled up in some fishing line."

Disgruntled quacking comes from the box and Halsin smiles.

“Now this gentleman is a Wood Duck. They’re one of the few species of duck who can commonly be found nesting in trees. Normally I wouldn’t bring him home, but I didn’t have the tools that I needed to get him untangled out at the lake." 

Halsin smiles gently into the camera.

"Now before I get to work on our new friend here, I want to remind all of you that if you see a wounded animal, or an animal in distress in the wild, the best thing you can do is note their location -- latitude and longitude if you’ve got a GPS -- and report it to your local wildlife management personnel for both your safety, and the animal’s." 

Disgruntled quacking intensifies.

"All right, all right, little brother. Why don’t we get you taken care of? You can spend the night in here by the stove, maybe I’ll make a little wooden you to add to the shelf. Would you like that?"

Quiet, slightly mollified quacking.

Halsin chuckles and slides the lid off the box.

“Ok, so first of all, make sure that you have clean hands and all your tools ready to go…”

Halsin who others rely on endlessly. Halsin who just wants to be close to you, no matter in what way.

Halsin has my entire heart 💚. I'll peel his fruit for him, braid his hair, wash his back, clean his wounds until they've healed. During the adventures, I'll bring him books to read, listen to his teachings about nature, learn from him how to tell edible and non-edible berries apart, bring him honey and honeycomb every time I see a beehive. I'll show him patience, affection, attentiveness and a shoulder to lean on whenever he needs. Anything for him🥺🌻🍯
