sorry for not posting in a while! i feel like i just woke up from a really long dream for some reason

ANYWAY. i ran into sonic at restoration hq today! we had a nice chat over lunch (i don't think i've ever seen a guy eat a spicier chili dog like good gaia i could smell the spice from miles away) and honestly that's been the highlight of my week lol

oh also i'm still having trouble coming up with a name for our shadow android friend so i'll be taking suggestions! no guarantees that i'll actually use any of the names you guys tell me but i need ideas

OOC// Hi everyone! Just wanted to jump on here and say that this blog will go on a short 10 day hiatus. I'll be going on a trip for that time and most likely won't have much time to post as Livewire until I'm back.

turns out coming up with a name for a shadow android is a lot harder than i thought lol

in other news, i got to talk to them a bit more and they even opened up a little! said they got dumped in the scrapyard because they were defective, which i already suspected given they weren't as damaged as the other androids there

apparently he wasn't the first to be thrown out because of defects or malfunctions either, but they're probably nothing but scrap by now. seems like it's protocol to have the other shadow androids dispose of those who fail testing which is just... sick. poor thing. i can't imagine how horrible that was

i know i said it once before but eggman really is cruel. i don't get how someone can create robots capable of feeling emotions only to leave them to rot in a dump when they don't work as intended. that's just heartless. but i guess i can't expect someone like eggman to have a heart

this reply got me thinking for a while and y'know what? i don't think it's my place to do that

i can repair him and get him back on his feet, sure, but ultimately it's up to the shadow android to choose what to do with himself after. if he wants to prove himself better than anything eggman has created, then that's okay. if he wants to get revenge for being discarded, then that's okay too. if he just wants to cut all ties with eggman and live a peaceful life, then he's free to do so

all i really want now is for them to know they're free to choose whatever path they feel is best. robots made by eggman don't really get that choice, and i'm not about to keep that from them like he has

But why did you save him? Why not salvage for parts?

he was still awake when he was dumped in that scrapyard. he shut down right as i saw him but he was awake for a moment and still looked like he was mostly in one piece unlike all the others

i couldn't just leave him there to rot or scrap him for parts after he saw me. that'd just be cruel

mostly just asking questions. like asking how he's feeling, why he didn't attack, what happened to him. he didn't answer any of them but honestly i don't really blame him lol. his voicebox is messed up and he's clearly having a hard time right now so i'm trying not to push him too much

he just asked why i helped him and hasn't said anything else but that's something!!

his voice is all messed up tho... and i don't have anything to fix it unfortunately. already used all the spare parts i had repairing the rest of him, and i'm not sure i could've used any of it to fix it anyway. looks like it wasn't damaged though, but defective from the start instead

but still he's actually kinda sorta communicating now!! maybe this means he's starting to feel safe here? i sure hope so

... now i'm thinking he should get a new name. just calling him "shadow android" feels wrong. dunno what he'd like though...

1. I heard Eggman tech is notoriously weird, and if true: good job on repairing the shadow android woag :0

2. The poor guy :[ since he seems to be sticking around, then at least that means he (probably) doesn't see you as an immediate threat?? Maybe a peace offering would help? Like leaving some cookies on the table for him--er, do shadow androids eat cookies? should it be computer chips instead?

thanks! i'm glad i took as many spare parts from the non-salvageable ones as i did, it was just enough to get him back on his feet

and yeah shadow androids can't eat anything. they don't have stomachs lol. they do have mouths but i'm guessing that's just for speaking along with the voicebox. the closest thing they could do to eating is recharge with a chaos drive

maybe i could get him some nice clothes instead? his gloves and shoes are all kinda scuffed so he could use some new ones. he's still not responding when i talk to him though so i dunno what he'd like. for now i'm just gonna make sure he feels safe. not sure how to do that either but i'll try my best 👍
