My dad would always prepare little surprises for me—delicious cake, a gift, maybe a new toy.I was the spoiled child of the house, and my joy meant the world to my family.

But this year is different.

This year, there’s No celebration. No cake, No gift, not even a candle to blow out. This year, there is war… famine… and fear that steals sleep from our eyes. I’m not crying over a cake or a toy—I'm crying over something much more important… "My father".

The man who always held me tightly is now at risk just by stepping outside to get us food. We fear he won’t return—only a body wrapped in a shroud.

We will not allow him to walk into death traps. We love him, and we want him to stay alive. We simply cannot bear to lose more.

It's so funny that the ICE protestors finally found a good use for these stupid fucking things.

They are a hazard out on the roads and sidewalks, but piled up and zip-tied together in front of the federal building garage exits that ICE vans use when they're kidnapping people out of immigration court? Then they become pieces of a beautiful community sculpture project.

Not seeing anyone talk about it, so Greta Thunberg and three other activists on the Madleen have been released by Israel. I can't find the names of the others who accepted deportation, but Greta Thunberg is back in France.

Rima Hassan, a French member of the European Parliament who was also onboard the Madleen, has refused deportation along with the other 7 remaining passengers. She specifically said that she refused to sign a document stating she had entered Israeli waters illegally. She and the other seven passengers will face an Israeli court this week. They are in danger. Spread the word.

Blog changes:

I will occasionally make Vpet posts since that’s a lot of my art and I’m not always working on Furby stuff.

I take pride in a mostly fun/safe Furby space even though I can’t post much or very often.

BUT real life disasters/needs are important too and also a lot of this space and I don’t have the personal bandwidth or phone data to fully separate them.

With that said I’ll be using the tag #irldisasters to attach to real life stressors on a larger scale since I know not everyone can always or possibly ever give to such things and I want this to primarily be a fun place for people.

If you have ideas for an even more specific tag that can be attached to many different forms of need definitely let me know. This is just the one I thought of.

Smoke is no joke!

praying for everyone affected by the fires right now, especially the deer lake first nation dealing with 66,027 hectares of land currently burning which just feels unfathomable. 1 hectare is like 2 football fields. if anyone knows of ways i could share for helping that community or others directly affected by the fires please reach out.

also, because this fire is so huge, and one of many going on in this general part of the continent right now, please check the air quality wherever you are. it's important to stay inside, run air purifiers if you have them, mask up when you go out. it's good practice to mask anyways during a pandemic but like even moreso now. i know i have a lot of friends and acquaintances from reserves and settlements on haudenosaunee lands and we're def in the danger zone, though luckily not severely as others, but smoke inhalation is real and can fuck you up.

it is wildfire season but that season keeps getting longer, the fires keep getting worse, and this is all due to climate change driven by colony and capital, climate change that always affects the most vulnerable and exploited first.
