you see a couple's one year anniversary posted all over facebook and you realize it has already been a year since one of the people you were closest to chose a boy over you.

the people you’re with can srsly ruin an experience.

when i found my wedding dress, it was just me and a friend/ bridesmaid who popped into a store because she was in town and i hadn’t found a dress yet. the lady who was helping me was super positive and supportive, as was my friend, and it was a great experience.

five months later, my dress comes in and i go to my first fitting with my mom and my sister/ moh. both were late and had zero reaction when i walked out of the fitting room. the seamstress seemed more excited than those two. my sister kept telling me what i was doing wrong (my hair was down, i wasn’t standing up straight enough, etc..) and my mom just looked bored. since she wasn’t saying anything, i asked my mom if she liked my dress. she shrugged and said “yeah,” without any change from her bored expression. i left that day feeling very down and not nearly excited as i had the first time.

i just got back from my first fitting with the seamstress who will be working on my dress and i am so pumped! i went by myself and she loved my dress and definitely knew what she was talking about and seemed really pumped about everything i told her i was planning on.

 i am again in love with my dress and the excitement for Tim to see me in it has definitely returned.

moral of this long post: surround yourself with supportive people.
