WOMEN’S HISTORY † JACQUETTE DE LUXEMBOURG (1415/1416 – 30 May 1472)
Jacquette de Luxembourg was the eldest daughter of Pierre Ier de Luxembourg, comte de Brienne and Marguerite des Baux, comtesse de Saint-Pol. Through her grandmother, Maud de Châtillon, Jacquette was a descendant of Henry III of England and Alienòr de Provença. Little is known of Jacquette’s early life, other than that her uncle, Jehan II de Luxembourg, comte de Ligny, was the leader of the military company that captured Jehanne d’Arc and handed her over to the English and Burgundians. On 22 April 1433, Jacquette married John of Lancaster, 1st Duke of Bedford, the third son of Henry IV of England and Mary de Bohun. Their marriage is thought to have caused a rift between the Duke of Bedford and Philippe le Bon, duc de Bourgogne as John had previously been married to Philippe’s sister, Anne. At any rate, Jacquette and John had no children and he died two years later in Rouen. At some point afterward, Jacquette fell in love with Sir Richard Wydeville, her dead husband’s chamberlain and they married secretly. Jacquette and Richard had fourteen children, one of whom was Elizabeth Wydeville. They were prominent at the Lancastrian court and in 1468, Richard was created Baron Rivers. During the Wars of the Roses, Jacquette and Richard were both supporters of the Lancastrians, but they switched to the Yorkists after Elizabeth secretly married Edward IV of England, the Yorkist king. The Wydevilles became very prominent in Edward’s court, much to the displeasure of his power cousin, Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick. Contrary to popular belief, however, Edward had good reasons to trust the Wydevilles: they owed almost everything they had to him and, thus, he could count on them far more than the Nevilles or the members of his own family. In 1469, Neville broke with Edward and plotted to put Henry VI and Marguerite d’Anjou back on the throne. Neville’s rebellion ultimately failed, but before his death he and his supporters accused Jacquette of using witchcraft to make Edward fall in love with her daughter. Jacquette was cleared of the charges of witchcraft and died peacefully in 1472. After Edward’s death in 1483, however, his brother, Richard, revived this old slander as a way to further discredit the Wydevilles.

Shocking how many people don’t know that hens lay non-fertilized eggs and think the yolk they’re eating is a baby chicken

You know, I always suspected that the tvd fandom wasn't the brightest in terms of media literacy, but seeing some specific shippers claim that Lisa portrayed the relationship between Damon and Elena in a positive light in her continuations is certainly... interesting? To say the least. Because:
He’s saying that right now Elena is up for grabs.
But at the mention of Elena, Damon felt at a flush of pure greed that started in his jaws and spread outward.
If I have to, I’ll Influence you to agree with me. I probably should have done that in the beginning. I seem to remember promising I wouldn’t, but I believe that promise also had a time limit that ran out.
Now to each their own, but 😬

I love how everyone in thg fandom just unanimously decided that Finnick is alive and happy with Annie and their boy. Like someone really went "Umm actually Finnick lives?" and the universal response was "Soooo true bestie you're soooo right it's actually canon!" and that's why we love it here 😌💙

get to know me meme >> Favorite Relationships [28/?] Anne Shirley & Gilbert Blythe (Anne of Green Gables)
For a moment Anne's heart fluttered queerly and for the first time her eyes faltered under Gilbert's gaze and a rosy flush stained the paleness of her face. It was as if a veil that had hung before her inner consciousness had been lifted, giving to her view a revelation of unsuspected feelings and realities. Perhaps, after all, romance did not come into one's life with pomp and blare, like a gay knight riding down; perhaps it crept to one's side like an old friend through quiet ways; perhaps it revealed itself in seeming prose, until some sudden shaft of illumination flung athwart its pages betrayed the rhythm and the music, perhaps. . . perhaps. . .love unfolded naturally out of a beautiful friendship, as a golden-hearted rose slipping from its green sheath.

I love your Finnick x Annie fanart, and everything about it. However,I'm going to make a very specific compliment about your Annie fanart:she always looks fit and somewhat muscular, even (at least as an adult). I've never vibed with her as a small, delicate-looking woman. Besides, she survived a flooded arena, one needs skill, stamina and strength. To top it all,I love the idea of Annie looking like an Olympic swimmer and still being the "Poor Mad Girl" - even in the books,it seemed like she got that nickname due to her PTSD showing in awkward ways(plus,I've seen an autistic HC for her,and it made sense to me that she'd have both) and being showcased to all of Panem.
Ironically, the one I imagined being small and thin was Johanna Mason, lol. Her strategy in the Games was basically "Pretend to be the weepy little girl".
Thank you! And I agree! I actually headcanon that Annie was a career tribute (but not a volunteer, I have a whole thing about it and my ideas about how all the career districts handle their tributes differently) so I definitely think she would have been very strong going into the games.
I also can see her losing a lot of muscle/weight after her games though. Whatever muscle she does gain back I think would be from running, walking, but especially swimming over the last 5 years
But even with that in mind I like drawing her with naturally wider shoulders and on the taller side because I also like the idea of her looking like a pro swimmer so she always looks stronger even at her "weakest"
And about Johanna, I imagine her with like a sleeper build lol. Like she definitely has muscle from working in lumber, but I also imagine her really tiny too

The fact that book Bonnie:
- meets book Damon first, before anyone else (he saves her life, does her homework, kisses her, drives her home and makes her forget)
- is the very first person book Stefan interracts with at school (Mr. Tanner bullies her and Stefan intervenes to help her)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But for the show Stefan and Damon she is nothing more than "We need a favour from you, Bonnie/We need Bonnie's spells/Elena needs Bonnie" like...
