yknow i just realized that i dont think we ever got an answer to the wedding or callback debate... like i wasn't expecting them to flat-out say "yes you should have done [x]" but they literally only had vauge allusions to what the answer is
#its like when u ask ur philosophy teacher smth#and they go on an unrelated tangent about capital punishment#ts criticism#buggy speaks

maybe logan teaching patton how to repress his emotions, basically? and telling him that it's healthy? -(can i be 🍓🍋 anon?)
Here you go! (sorry it took so long I had to do some research for this and also my mental health hasn’t been Great)
also absolutely no anon tags are taken
warnings: u!logan, sympathetic janus, sympathetic patton, victim patton, gaslighting, emotional abuse, depression
It’d happened again and again, Patton had let his emotions get the better of him; reaching a crescendo and spilling over onto Thomas. He’d tried so hard, really, he always did. And it was never enough. Recently, it seemed that he was at the root of all of Thomas’s problems.
Janus helped, a little, by taking the reins on some matters he lifted a little of that burden from the Heart. But even with his duties as Morality under control, his emotional duties continued to fall by the wayside. So Patton does the only thing he can think to do, and seeks out the assistance of a side he knows will be able to look at the situation objectively.
“I keep hurting Thomas,” Patton tells the logical side, fidgeting in place with distress.
“I know.” Logan replies simply, tiredly, letting the book he was reading fall closed and turning his chair to face Patton. Even sitting he seems to loom overhead and Patton shrinks away from his irritated gaze.
“I don’t know what to do.” The emotional side elaborates. “I was hoping you would maybe have some advice.”
“Advice?” Logan repeats, thoughtfully, although the questioning tone is mostly rhetorical “Your problem is that you overreact to every incident, and your heightened emotions affect Thomas’s ability to think rationally. In short, you need better self control.”
“But,” Patton chimes in with a small hop, proud of himself for remembering what Logan had said before “Isn’t that repression? I thought that doesn’t work”
Logan gives Patton a look somewhere between patronizing and condescending. “For intrusive thoughts, repression doesn’t work. Controlling your emotions, however, is not only possible but necessary for Thomas to function.”
Patton feels another wave of guilt, remembering with a twist in his gut the way Thomas had teared up during their latest dilemma.
Logan sighs at this and continues. “It’s called compartmentalization. Essentially, it’s a system of prioritizing thoughts, feelings, conflicts, and putting them into certain ‘boxes’ within the mind. Done correctly, logically, it’s perfectly healthy.”
The emotional side nods slowly. “It’s like making sure your peas don’t touch your potatoes” he adds, scrunching up his nose in distaste at the thought.
“That’s a close enough understanding, I suppose,” Logan concedes, and his tone causes Patton to deflate, slightly.
“Alright teach,” Patton says, forcing the pep back into his tone. “Where do we start?”
Logan smiles for the first time since Patton sought out his help. “I’m glad you asked.”
It takes a long time, a lot of work, breakdowns and near breakdowns. Bottling things up only for them to explode. Scolding and harsh words from an impatient Logan. But eventually, Patton disconnects from his emotions. Everything in neat little boxes where they won’t cause problems.
And maybe he doesn’t feel much of anything, anymore. Maybe that includes the good things. Maybe he begins to feel like he’s just going through the motions of existence. The once cherished memories of his room gathering dust. And maybe Thomas is worried, because he can’t seem to feel things the way he used to anymore, either. None of the sadness but none of the joy, either.
But even if that’s the case, it’s better that way. Because Patton isn’t causing problems anymore. He’s not out of control anymore. He’s tucked away in boxes safe and sound. Compartmentalized, not repressed.

i have NOT been posting on here and i'm sorry,,, but! i did get upset about something again so oop here's another post.
a lot of logan angst centers around logan feeling left out... which doesn't really make sense to me? like canonically, logan has been upset about being left out of discussions/debates, but i don't think it's because he wants to be spending more time with the other sides. in fact, when he is present, he seems frustrated that he has to work with others.
logan DEFINITELY doesn't seem like he'd want to be involved in "family activities" or hang out with the other sides outside of videos.
yeah idk where i was going with this really? i guess it just bothers me when logan angst is about him being upset that no one wants to hang out with him.

oh this is actually a v helpful explanation! ty!!
maybe i'm just really bad at reading people, but i'm not sure how janus was manipulating roman in svs? to me it seemed more like roman already wanted to go to the callback, and janus was kind of exploiting that for his own gain. which yes, that was kind of shitty, but it didn't seem that much like manipulation to me? idk :P

I've seen this thing going around where people give asks on their opinions of certain things on Sanders Sides, and it goes Strongly Agree | Agree | Neutral | Disagree | Strongly Disagree
So, if you could send in some of those in my inbox, I'd be really happy. I really like to hear your guys opinions on the show. (It doesn't matter if it's an unpopular opinion or not).

I watched through season 2 (+aa) and marked down every moment I think Logan was mean, some have more than others, some are subjective, either way here ya go (I started this like a month ago and just now finished it so if stuff is inconsistent don’t @ me)
Accepting Anxiety:
-throws a laptop at Thomas, no apology or remorse (pt 1: 6:25)
Moving on 1/2:
-called Roman pathetic (2:32)
-guilts Patton into letting them in (7:34)
-insults theater (11:17)
-storms out when he forced them to go there in the first place (15:38) plus what he said about Patton
Fitting In:
-insulted the hair and took it as a personal insult?? “Just to make me look foolish then?”(0:35)
-casually insults Roman’s intelligence “you are on a clever streak today, which is unusual for you” (3:30)
-other comments that could be taken negatively (3:50, 7:05, 9:16, and 11:40)
-stopping Patton from wearing the onesie when it’s not his outfit or choice? (15:40)
Can Lying Be Good?:
-casually invalidates Patton’s main purpose “concepts of good and bad are arguably meaningless” (23:30)
-casually jokes about replacing Patton “maybe deceit wasn’t so bad” (23:60)
Why Do We Get Out of Bed in the Morning?:
-“I don’t usually call others in” straight up saying he doesn’t listen to others (4:40) (fr where did those “Logan is ignored!!” hcs come from he said himself it’s the other way too)
-getting mad at Roman making a genuine mistake + not letting him talk (5:30)
-THE CHART (15:59)
-facts aren’t Roman’s department, his reasoning is valid too :( (20:30)
Learning New Things About Ourselves:
-literally tells Thomas to ignore Patton (12:59)
-threw paper at Roman (15:58) I get he’d be a little mad but jfc
-wouldn’t share things to help until Virgil asked? no wonder he’s “ignored” he won’t say it unless you stroke his ego (20:40)
-told Thomas he had to quit yt and get a “real job” aka feeding into Thomas’s insecurity about being a yter (21:55)
-tried to stop the song even though it was for Roman to get his feelings out aka shaming his venting/coping (24:23)
-“not that I was wrong!” has to defend himself while literally trying to be more open minded (31:39)
Embarrassing Phases:
-getting upset Virgil when he’s trying his best (5:03)
-casually insults Vee and makes Thomas panic (6:40)
Selfishness vs Selflessness:
-doesn’t find Thomas’s friends important (13:45)
Dealing With Intrusive Thoughts:
-doesn’t care about Roman getting hit (6:32)
-just pretty rude to Remus the whole time but that’s subjective I guess
Putting Others First:
-made the lowdown’s too fast to read and didn’t slow them down after Roman failed reading the first time (14:40)
-said “not that any of you care but I am unharmed” when Roman asked “what have you done with Logan??” (36:20 and 32:00)
(If you have any you think should be added definitely tell me! I’ll give credit if it gets put on. The only one I won’t do is when he hit Patton with the lowdown, that sounded like a genuine accident and he said sorry)
