Sneak Peak From âThe King of Snakesâ

âDo you think Flint dragged us out here just so he could mess with Wood?â Adrian whispered in Cassiusâ ear as they stood and watched the Gryffindor and Slytherin Quidditch captains bicker over who had the right to the pitch.Â
Cassius smirked. It was true though, Wood and Flint had a very bizarre soulmate relationship that seemed to thrive on competition. In fact, the pair had even agreed not to bond until after Hogwarts as to not interfere with their Quidditch rivalry. At least, they were both that intense Cassius mused.
âSome people do seem to enjoy antagonising their soulmates,â he said after a moment, shooting Adrian a knowing look. âMaybe you and Flint could exchange tips.âÂ
I was telling my husband about this scene (we were discussing Oliver Wood) and I decided that I needed to share it with all of you, even if the chapter version of King of Snakes is nowhere near ready to start posting.

And the first arc of Take My Hand is done. The story isnât done, but I wrapped up the canon story and now I get to build on the world I have been building and how all those little changes will have an impact on wizarding society. This is the fun part.

Just watched a TikTok a bout why the Malfoys are better parents than the Weasleys (not better people, better parents) and was nodding along the whole time.
#Unpopular opinionn#But likeâŠ#The evidence is there#The malfoys arenât good people but they come across as good parents#The Weasleys are good people but are not great parents

my dream as a fanfic writer is to write a story which people want to talk to me about and send asks about afterwards and discuss things the characters did and the symbolism and meanings behind certain lines and I'll be all "hehe thanks" but irl I'll be in literal tears because I wrote something that means something to someone

Writing problems: early this morning I suddenly came up with ideas for both Take My Hand and Remake My World (how the Dursleys will be handled in each story) but it was 6 a.m so I did not take any kind of notes and now I only remember bits and pieces.

Dialogue Responses
"I miss you."
"I miss you too."
"It's just temporary."
"I wish you were here."
"We'll see each other again."
"Well, that's too bad for you."
"Just a few more days, I promise."
"One day, I won't have to leave again."
"The truth is, I don't miss you anymore."
"I'm sorry, I can't change that right now."
"This wasn't the last time we've seen each other."

My Favourite âBreak Your Heartâ Songs
I replied to a post of @jerzwriter âs about love songs and admitted that while I know a few, my writing taste leans towards songs about bittersweet or lost love. So I decided to make a list of my favorites. Iâm sorry in advance.
1. I Would Have Loved You Anyway by Trisha Yearwood. This has been number one in my writing playlist for almost two decades now much to my husbandâs chagrin. I think he could happily never heart it again đ but to me there is no better bittersweet song about love gone wrong. â⊠If I'da known the way that this would end/ If I'da read the last page first/ If I'da had the strength to walk away/ If I'da known how this would hurt/ ⊠I would've loved you anywayâ. There is just something so powerful about that. Not every love story lasts forever, but that doesnât mean it wasnât worth it.
2. Dynasty by Miia. This song is my unofficial theme song for âPortia: A Roman Tragedyâ. The idea of we could have had it all but then we didnât. âThought we built a dynasty that heaven couldn't shake/ Thought we built a dynasty like nothing ever made/ Thought we built a dynasty forever couldn't break upâ. The first time I heard the song (in a fan video), I went âohh, thatâs the tragedyverseâ, it just sums it all up for me.
3. What Might Have Been by Little Texas. I have always been haunted by the possibilities of âwhat might have beenâ and this song just sums it up in such a beautiful way. âWe could sit and talk about this all night long/ And wonder why we didn't last/ Yes, they might be the best days we will ever know/ But we'll have to leave them in the past./ I try not to think about what might have been/ Cause that was then and we have taken diff'rent roads/ we can't go back again there's no use giving in/ And there's no way to know/ What might have beenâ. You canât go back, you canât ever know what could have been.
4. Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac. Of course this song is on the list. The lyrics, the haunted way she sings, the video of her signing it in 1997. This song is heartbreak perfection. âTime cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me/ I know I could have loved you/ But you would not let meâ.
5. Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift. This is just a beautiful song (and a great video). âNothing lasts forever/ But this is getting good now/ He's so tall and handsome as hell/ He's so bad, but he does it so well/ And when we've had our very last kiss/ My last request is/ Say you'll remember me/ Standing in a nice dress/ Staring at the sunset, babe/ Red lips and rosy cheeksâ.
6. Strawberry Wine by Deana Carter. I have loved this song since I was a teenager (and the âwhen 30 was oldâ line hits particularly hard at 40) and as I have grown the songâs impact on me has changed and now I really appreciate the bittersweet look back on first love and how that kind of love only comes along once. âThere's nothing time hasn't touched/ Is it really him or the loss of my innocence?/ I've been missing so muchâ
7. Already Gone by Sleeping At Last (it is a Kelly Clarkson song, but the version I love is a cover). âStarted with a perfect kiss/ Then we could feel the poison set in/ Perfect couldn't keep this love alive/ You know that I love you so/ Ilove you enough to let you goâ but also âRemember all the things we wanted/ Now all our memories, they're haunted/ We were always meant to say goodbyeâ. This song just hits so hard and sums up the idea that some things are always meant to end (are you sensing a theme đ?)
8. Didnât We Almost Have It All by Whitney Houston. Another one that I have played over and over until my husband never wants to hear it again. âDidn't we almost have it all/ When love was all we had worth giving?/ The ride with you was worth the fall my friend/ Loving you makes life worth livingâ.
9. Donât Speak by No Doubt. Another one that goes back to teenage Misha. I think this one got me a few break-ups once upon a time. âDon't speak/ I know what you're thinkin'/ I don't need your reasons/ Don't tell me 'cause it hurtsâ.
10. Beautifully Unfiniished by Ella Henderson. âBut maybe all that we are meant to be/ Is beautifully unfinished/ And I hate you, and I love you/ And I wish you'd go away/ And I hate you, and I love you/ And I wish that you would stayâ. I love the pain of this song, the love and the hate, the idea that something is ending when you donât want it to but you know it has too.
Narrowing it down to 10 was hard and there are lots of other regular songs on my writing playlist, but these are my favorites (although honourable mention to âLast Kissâ by Pearl Jam). If you feel like writing some angst, I highly recommend putting on some of these songs. I definitely have a âtypeâ when it comes to my favorite music, there is something about the end of a love story and looking back that really hits hard for me.

I have a very persistent troll. So I turned off anon messages.
not sure what I particularly did to earn this personâs ire but I donât have to give them a platform or tolerate their hate.
one of their complaints is that I use this Tumblr to try and engage with my readers and when I read the message today, I realize how sad and lonely thye must be because they accused me of doing it because I donât get enough kudos or whatever when really I just want to interact with the people who love what I love.
anyway, anon off. Everything else continues as normal,

Neville is always a good choice, I'm a fan. However, I think there's some fantastic untapped potential of pairing femHarry with Ravenclaws. How about Terry Boot? Or Anthony Goldstein?
Ok, I love this idea so much. I have done several Slytherins and a Gryffindors, I have a few Hufflepuff ideas percolating but no one has suggested any Ravenclaws and you are right, there is a lot of potential there. Thanks so much for the suggestion!

Potential Soulmate Pairs
It is been a while since I wrote a new story for the soulmate SU series. I got a series of trolls that were major hit to my confidence, but I am ready to continue. Who would people like to see next?
I have pending requests for Draco and Neville, plus I had a Fred one in the works, but other than that I am not sure who I should write. Who would you like to see F!Harry with? My only hard ânosâ are parent figure characters (no Snape or Sirius or Remus).
