A shrine to my household guardian spirit, Slutty Cat (she’s the green sculpture in the center). Slutty Cat is the old girlfriend of Musty Cat, a house guardian from my old home in Michigan. When I left, I wanted to take a piece of Musty Cat with me, but he was a location-based spirit, and couldn’t come along. That’s when Slutty Cat introduced herself, and I knew she’d go anywhere and bless any home that treated her right. Pictured here with one of her favorite offerings, catnip, Slutty Cat is also partial to cream (regular or Bailey’s) and pictures of cute boy cats.

Warding Your Electronics

Warding your electronics can be of use, although not all practitioners do it or even deem it necessary. A lot of energy can be received and transmitted via the internet and social media. This is why warding your phone, tablet, or computer can help. Here are some helpful hints to keep yourself energetically protected with your electronics

Put a protection sigil on your Wi-Fi router. This can transmit protection to all electronics connected to the Wi-Fi signal being received by your devices. Instant protection for all devices all at once. Cleanse your router every once in a while too, that may make a difference (not in your internet speed though, unfortunately). You could even place protective or intention-based crystals around your router for added protection/intention/magic.

Place an anti-gossip sigil in your phone case. This would work for a protection sigil, attraction, or anything else. It is directly in contact with your device so it can influence it and your presence on the apps you use. Make sure to make a copy of the sigil and burn it or energetically charge the single one you draw to activate it before use.

Hide runes or sigils in your phone background. I have done this with my tablet and just created a simple sigil for whatever I need and lower the opacity almost all the way down. I resize it and hide it in the image so it's not noticeable. Every time your device is charged, the sigil too will be charged. You can do this with phone backgrounds, laptop wallpapers, even pfp's!!! It's so easy and versatile.

For the love of the gods, please cleanse your devices every once in a while. Energy on your devices can get stagnant and affect you. Just a once over with incense or a bell or even your voice can cleanse it easily enough.

Make Emoji Spells in your Notes App or Twitter. This is much more of a Technomagic practice, but you can make spells with whatever emojis fit your intention. Set one emoji per word in your spell or even two per word, or whatever you want. Type it in the notes app, press save to enact the spell. Easy peasy done. You can even do this with your IG bio! Put an emoji spell in your IG bio or Tweet it to send the spell out and activate it.

Put your screen names in a jar. Not a bad curse jar, a protective jar. Write them on a piece of paper, fold it in towards you, shove it in the jar and put protective herbs and such in your spell jar. It can help keep your online presence protected. You can do this with any intention, obviously, but protection is a big one.

Techno Witch Equivalency

"Candle Magick": If you want to use candles in tech magic, you can program something like this code I wrote (on my github). The length of time the candle "burns" can be made random to mimic irl candles, and any additional effect of burning the candle in your irl magic could be included by adding more functions to the code.

"Divination": BOOM. Here's one I made earlier... This one allows you to pick cards from a digital Tarot deck and will spit out an interpretation at the end, too. (N.B. - Additional spreads and alternate interpretations could easily be incorporated, but this is a proof of concept and it works!)

"Tea Spells": Haven't come up with an equivalent for this yet... maybe this one is just better in the analogue world.

"Crystals": Computers are real good at doing simulations of repetitive things. Given that that's literally a key component of the definition of a crystal, making simulations of them should be straightforward. I haven't done a version of this yet, but I can think of a hundred different ways to abstract the idea of a crystal lattice and the magic comes with it into software. (Bonus points for acknowledging that most silicon is crystalline and that's what makes your computer's brain work!)

"Visualisation": You can do this with no physical components whatsoever... so you wouldn't need anything digital unless you really wanted it!

"Sigils": I've already seen others suggest using tools like craiyon (used to be DALL-E mini) to make sigils for any search term you can think of! You could also make your own software to do this, following your own rules, if you prefer!

Amazon resorting to deleting negative reviews of Rings of Power on IMDB just cause they own it is super fucking humiliating for them but also demonstrates the problem that if like 4 companies own most of the internet that means they own both the media and all the sites that critique said media and you can say goodbye to any reliable consumer reviews of products on the internet

I feel like the word "visualize" is commonly used in spells and exercises instead of "imagine," because it feels more authentic and like you're not just playing make-believe, but I've got this theory that it really isn't any better, and could actually be holding a lot of people back.

As we know, some people think more in words, and some people think more in images. Some people have a hard time visualizing, or straight up can't do it.

Personally, I think in some words and some images, but mostly in a big abstract cloud of ideas and feelings which I have to translate into images or words in order to communicate. It's easier for me to translate ideas into words than images. When I do think in images they kind of just happen without me consciously creating them. To make them on purpose is a lot harder.

So, when you tell me to visualize a protective bubble (to use a recently mentioned example), I can do it, but it's not super solid. However, if you tell me to imagine a protective bubble, I can feel it and know it's there. I can know what color it is without having to see it. This is a much stronger bubble than the one I visualized.

Since I decided to quit trying to visualize and start imagining, things have become a lot easier for me, and have felt more solid. I'm also spending less time being distracted by the effort of maintaining a visualization.

Again, this is a theory, and of course your mileage may vary, but if you're someone for whom imagining is not an entirely visual process, it might be worth giving it a try.
