Some of you may know this dog and some don’t, but I lived with her and @kevinsnothere for almost 3 years, and Nina is the reason I wanted to get a #heeler. This beautiful girl pretty much raised Pete, and all of his good qualities come from this sweet dawg. She is Pete’s sister, and Kevin’s best friend + adventure partner. Nina is hurt and needs some help. Anything at all would mean a lot to me, Kevin, Pete, and most of all #NinaTheHeeler. The link is in my bio for more information and will remain there for the month if you are willing and able- even a share of the link helps! (at Malibu Creek State Park)

✌🏼 out Vietnam, you were a pleasure. I love the wave of inspiration that takes off just at the end of a trip and the returning home/ planning of the next one... going to ride that for a while 🌊 #travel #vietnam (at Cát Bà, Hải Phòng, Vietnam)

These “floating villages” have everything a normal town would- only it’s all on water. A lot of the homes even had dogs. It all has a real “Waterworld” type of vibe. During the few hours we spent paddling in and out of the hundreds of islands grouped together around Cat Ba, we came across several of these little villages... no telling how many there are out there. The homes have power via solar or generators which provides all the basic necessities, and most of the people living here get by from fishing... sounds like an awesome way of life- sign me up... #vietnam 👋🏼🐠🌊🏠 (at Cát Bà, Hải Phòng, Vietnam)

Took a sick Tandem Kayak tour through the hundreds of small islands near Cat Ba. We passed through the “floating villages” where people live and work full time on the water and then into this dope lagoon... My favorite part #vietnam so far. (at Cát Bà Island)

Another one from yesterday. Riding down the Tam Coc River aka what felt like the set of Tropic Thunder. The guides paddle with their feet- super efficient as the tour was over an hour. (at Tam Coc)

Today we took a ride in a paddle boat down the Tam Coc River- then walked up to the top of Hang Mua for a birds eye view of the same river. This place is beautiful...🏞 (at Tam Cốc-Bích Động-Ninh Bình)

I’m out in Vietnam with my younger brother and we’ve been moving non-stop since we got here trying to see as much as we can. I thought Thailand was busy- this place is unreal. From the cars and bikes on the road to the boats in the harbors; the hustle and bustle is real out here. Today was perhaps one of the gnarliest and most hilarious incidents I’ve experienced while traveling. Failing to find a bus leaving from Hanoi to Ninh Binh at the station we were at, my brother and I found a guy (really he found us) who we were pretty sure wasn’t gonna rip us off, and he told us he had a bus to Ninh Binh that would leave at 1. We waited an hour and come one o’clock we find him and follow him out of the bus station to a street corner where I start to worry we had wasted our time and he says: “Ninh Binh 1 o’clock” and points into traffic as like 3 buses drive passed us. He’s pointing and yelling as if I’m supposed to run after it, even though I dont even know which one he’s pointing at. Out of nowhere, another guy rolls up on a motorbike signaling us to get on the back... “Free motorbike hurry!” to which I respond “no way I need a bus dude! We cant both fit on the back of that with you and our bags!!” He’s pointing at the bus and getting frantic and in the chaos we give in and jump on his bike. I tell my brother to hold on tight and the guy floors it after the bus, cutting people off and swerving in and out of traffic. We are three guys on a scooter with luggage speeding down a street more busy and than anything I’ve seen at home in LA... I’m laughing my ass off and at the same time sketched out of my mind, and I still don’t even know where we’re going or whats happening. He manages to catch up to the bus, pulls up next to the drivers window and screams something at him in Vietnamese, then darts ahead of him. He pulls over at a tiny office and rushes us to a desk where we buy tickets as the bus pulls up to where he parked his bike. Then we run out and get on the bus and 2 hours later we’re at our homestay in Ninh Binh. It was totally ridiculous 🤣 (at Cát Bà, Hải Phòng, Vietnam)

A year ago today we set out into the unknown and would spend six days on the Endless Chain. The lessons I would learn and what I’d go through on that ridge changed me and my entire outlook on life, the mountains, and adventure. When I look back on what I’ve done and what I’ve been through in this difficult year since, it all comes back to this place. The anxiety, depression, the restlessness, the trauma, and the guilt from nearly being swept off this mountain took me to a low that resulted in me drowning in drugs and alcohol, getting arrested, and nearly killing myself. I was completely lost for a long time after this. It was truly rock bottom. However much like we were forced to do in Jasper on the 6th day of the Endless Chain; I picked myself up off my knees, and with the help of those close to me I got out of there. I’m lucky, and I am very grateful. I haven’t had a drink in 223 days. I’ve been stone sober for four months. I literally have a new lease on life and for once- a desire not to fuck it up. There are people and times in your life that will slip away as time moves on- and there are things that will stick with you forever. This is one that will always be there for me. After 12 straight days of getting denied, yesterday I scored two JMT permit reservations for this summer... STOKED. Hey Mom, get ready to experience why they call it the RANGE OF LIGHT! It’s gonna be an adventure for sure 🙌🏼 (at Bishop, California)

This is the first pic I ever shared on this account. Throwbacks of baby Pete just melt my heart. It feels like forever ago I made one of the best decisions of my life to pick up this little flea bag idiot and bring him home. #petertheheeler (at Los Angeles, California)

Pete and I have been going to the Alabama Hills together for so long that if I say: “Hey Pete! You wanna go to the Hills?” He knows exactly what it means. Here’s a shot from back in the day before we had a van- and a hammock over the dirt was more than enough comfort. #petertheheeler (at Lone Pine, California)

About a year ago today we were getting absolutely shit on during an attempt to ski a peak on the Saskatchewan Glacier near the Southern edge of the Columbia Icefield. Instead of skiing/ climbing we spent a day and a half stuck in our tents talking about @beargrylls and piss, and singing classic Staind lyrics. We raced the next incoming storm off the glacier and had a personal emergency escort lead us down the Icefield Parkway before it hit; which would have left us stranded for several days with nothing to eat but Powerbars and “bread”. We made it out just in time for pride week beers in Jasper before a 15 hour detour around Alberta to get @poorlyplannedproductions back to the airport. #Flashback to good times... @chrisbrinleejr @poorlyplannedproductions (at Columbia Icefield)

I cant wait to wake up with the birds on El Cap again... The crisp, still morning air on my skin. Thrashed, bloody hands and sore legs. Packing up the pig and pressing upward against gravity- continuing to move further from the safety of the ground- but closer towards the glory of the top. All in good company. I’m constantly daydreaming about these moments... #sleepintheair @bigagnes_ (at Yosemite National Park)

No matter how often I entertain the idea of leaving, I can’t imagine ever straying too far from this range of mountains and walls. No place on Earth inspires or calls out to me quite like the Sierra Nevada. The love of my life. I’m not sure who or where I’d be had I not found this place when I did. (at Lone Pine, California)

Pure joy. I need more moments like this. Less stressing on bullshit and more focus on things that are important + inspiring to me. ▪️ This was taken in 2016 during the most fun, miserable, impactful, and glorious 7 days of my life. I didn’t get paid for this trip, and I wasn’t representing a brand or promoting a product. I hardly took my camera out at all the entire time. It was just me and my friend trying really fucking hard to get to the top a mountain because we wanted to. More of this. Photo: @emiliooooooo (at Yosemite National Park)
