Better yet--have an awkward conversation, and become part of the work itself! Equipped with a scenic set and enough rules to keep you anxious, the in-school exhibition doesn't allow alcohol. Steady Climb Towards

Plywood, motorized mechanism, modified steel snow chain, pleather shoes, acrylic paint

An intricate mechanism moving a pair of shoes to walk. Within the wooden box are a motor, sprockets, chains, bearings, and a network of tiny devices to lift one side of a steel snow chain and then the other. The chain in turn pulls the shoes. A very loud and menacing sound is produced which contradicts the underwhelming and futile act of walking in place, continuing endlessly, alluding to progress while clearly ineffectual.
