#can I say red from ava/m or is that now allowed.#no but this actually bothers me so much#if they're all young/kids then not as much cuz like. that makes sense#but a lot of people view the CG as teens/young adults and STILL make red and like a child#and it kinda bothers me#you can have immature or hyper characters that aren't children btw.#they can be silly and jokesters and still act their age.#like if you look at red there is the possibility for a lot of nuance to his character#he was (unintentionally) the first anagonist in avm.#he is brash and impulsive#but he also has great ideas that aren't as acknowledged (see monster school ep)#he's a great fighter but can also be gentle#he cares deeply and his friends and animals and is willing to protect them no matter the cost#(see: the showdown and the box where red is the first one to jump in to fight)#but no lets just ignore all that and give him the emotional intelligence of a five year old. because that definitely makes sense.#and this is more personal beef but#people often hc that red has ADHD#and I don't have any problems with this alone#but the only way they show is he's hyper. he's jumpy and energetic.#and that rubs me the wrong way#again there is a lot of room for nuance and meaning here#but it's thrown out the window#as someone with ADHD I use the hc too#but there's more to it that being hyperactive#it's just condensing everything about ADHD and red into one thing#anyways yeah I'm done now

I used to do smth similar since I live in an ingredients household. When I was in maybe 6th or 7th grade and my parents were working or away and couldn't make me a snack, I would eat spoonfuls of chocolate protein powder.
It wasn't very good, but it was sweet and that was enough for my little squirrel-brained self
wwhen i was 11 i used to sneak into the kitchen late at night and sit on the ground and we had those boxes of pancake mix, like the powdered stuff, and id sit and id grab a spoon and id just eat it in the dark in a corner of the kitchen for 20 minutes before deciding i was done and putting the box back where i found it

Tumblr is still broken, physics is still killing me, and the world is still crushing, but for once I started a drawing and actually finished it in the same evening.. somehow..

its sideways and idk why, but im not gonna change it. too much effort.
I started drawing the blue details cuz i thought it was too boring then ended up really leaning into the robot-y vibes but yknow. I like it like that tbh.

Lol it's ok, I'm a yapper too (if you look at the tags for... Any of my posts, there's a whole 10 minute rant there). But you're so on point with this! You get it!!
The only other fandom I'm into as much as AvA/M is the osc, and GOD does it get messy over there. It's strange to me how people can't seem to accept other opinions or takes, and how they view disagreement as a personal attack.
Genshin is a good (or maybe bad) example here. I'm not a part of the fandom myself (cuz I have separate problems with the game and fandom revolving around the fetishization of asian culture but that's a WHOLE NOTHER rant), but I have heard.... things. And that's what I mean when I say AvA/M allows for diversity in it's interpretations. There's no set design or gender or personality, so it can be a really collaborative experience to come up with them. It's like OCS that everyone is interested in and share, and I think that's really fun.
Especially in this fandom, opposing opinions doesn't mean disrespect; if anything, it means you have a new yapping buddy! I totally agree with what you said about reading takes that you don't agree with. If anything, they challenge you to question your own stance to either understand it better, or change it. And the ability to change as a fan makes the fan base very enjoyable and fun to be part of.
Ive seen a lot of discourse surrounding the latest AvA short with Victim and Mitsi, and despite the problems it's brought up, it also highlights one of the main reasons I love this fandom above all others.
I first found this series when the AvA IV came out. I was young, and I just liked watching the cool animation. I never looked into the story or characters or overarching plot, not at first. Then, about a year ago, I got back into it, and while the animation was still great, there was a new factor that drew me in.
For the first time, I really started interacting with others in a fandom space. The absolute creativity, drive, and passion in this community really amazed me. Everyone had their own takes and interpretation, and it was an open space to share them all with each other.
To me, that is what makes this series so great. The characters, while they have defining traits in the canon material, are largely up to interpretation. It promotes this element of digging deeper than what you see, using context to understand actions, and even using your own creative minds to make the world your own. There are flaws in the series and writing, yes, but honestly, I hardly pay attention to the canon writing. It's much more fun to interpret things how you want them to be, or how others see them.
With the example of the latest short, people are criticizing Mitsi's writing and portrayal, frankly, as they should be. But within that, people are sharing how they view it: Mitsi is impulsive, she wants to treat those she cares about, she is a gift-giver, etc. And these ideas grow and change with each person that contributes, until the interpretation we have is, in my eyes, much greater than the singular intention of it.
The greatest part of this series, more so than the writing, animation, or story, is the community that surrounds it. People who shape this world with their own hands and share it with others. I think the build of the series allows for a lot of this creative interpretation, in ways that you can't with other fandoms (since the characters and their identities are ambiguous). And who knows, maybe I'm way off point and I need to stop "fanonizing" or whatever the word may be, but if this fandom has taught me anything, it's that it's ok to have your own views and share them. That's what community is for, after all.
