Wow -- long time no see, huh?
I feel really bad, to be honest. About a year ago was the last time I was on this blog, and I mostly bailed because I was putting too much stress on myself and tumblr was becoming so bad for me that I just needed a break. So I took one. A long one. I trickled back to tumblr around December, picking up one old muse and then another. And now I want to bring Elena back as well.
I understand if all of you who were my friends back then don't want to speak to me, and really you have every right to. I'm very sorry for how I acted then and if I worried you I'm even more sorry. I was immature. Very immature. But since then I've done a lot of growing up. I graduated from college and just don't take everything so seriously anymore. I miss a lot of you and would love to talk again.
That being said, though, I'm moving my Elena over to this blog. This account was great, but the fresh start is what I need.
Again, I'm so sorry for how I acted. I really am.
I hope I see you all over there!

"You got it, doc."
With that she flashed him a grin and a quick wink, using that as her acknowledgement to his thanks, then left the sickbay to get what was needed. It was only fifteen minutes or so before sure returned with a jug of water, a thermos of coffee, and cups for both.
"Special delivery!"
"C’mon, Ms Fisher, what sort of doctor would I be if I didn’t care about my patients?

“Coffee for me, water for the kids. They don’t need any more sugar in their diets." As adults, or as children. “And thanks. For stickin’ around."

"Then if you say so. Just don't run yourself too ragged. You need anything now? Coffee? Juice? Snacks for these kids? Lollipops?"
"If you want to, I won’t say No.

“But I’m staying here tonight; got a cot in my office and everything. Figure I should stick around. Familiar face and all that."

"That's cute." she chuckled, taking a small look around. "Do you need help? My shift is over and I'm sure the CMO has more important things to do"
"What can I say, I like kids. They don’t talk back nearly as much as adults."

HISTORY MEME - six women: ka’iulani [7/6]
Victoria Kaʻiulani Kalaninuiahilapalapa Kawekiu i Lunalilo Cleghorn was born on October 16, 1875 and was heir to the Throne of Hawaii, holding the title of Crown Princess. She was descended from High Chief Kepoʻokalani through her mother, who was the sister of King Kalākaua and Queen Liliʻuokalani. Her father was a Scottish financier and the last Royal Governor of O’ahu. At age 13 she was sent to England to receive an education, and excelled in Latin, Literature, Mathematics, History, French, and German. In 1893, while she was still in England, the Hawaiian monarchy was overthrown and the new government attempted to become part of the United States. She decided to take action, despite being reluctant to participate in politics, and travelled to America, where she made many speeches and public appearances. She was treated with contempt by the American pro-annexation press, which referred to her as a “half-breed," though she did not receive the blatantly racist treatment that her aunt did. President Cleveland expressed an interest in the situation in Hawaii after meeting Ka’iulani, and though the annexation did not move forward in Congress, the Monarchy was still not restored. In 1897, she finally returned to Hawaii, where she continued to make public appearances despite her worsening health. In 1898, Hawaii was finally annexed to the United States. During the annexation ceremony, the Royal Family dressed in funeral attire to protest the transaction. That same year, Ka’iulani was caught in a storm while out horse riding and came down with a fever and pneumonia. She died on March 6, 1899, at the age of 23. (x)

Statue of Tuthmosis IV
18th Dynasty
c.1400-1390 BC
New Kingdom
Bronze statuette of Tuthmosis IV: Thutmosis IV is depicted in an offering pose, kneeling and holding two large ‘nw’-pots forward at just above waist height. He wears the ‘nemes’ headdress with a uraeus cobra, its head missing, which rises just above the forehead band. Its body forms two asymmetrical curves at the front of the king’s head, then runs straight over the top to the crown of the head. The modeling of the king’s torso is indistinct - made more so by the overcleaning of the surface of the bronze. The traditional royal ‘shendyt’ kilt is belted by a wide diamond-patterned belt, in the central rectangle of which the hieroglyphic signs of the king’s prenomen, written without a cartouche, are somewhat awkwardly inscribed. Distinctive facial features of Thutmosis IV are clearly incorporated in this small statuette: high cheekbones and a square jaw, a brow line flat near the nose, narrow almond-shaped eyes, a long nose that broadens at the nostrils nearly to the width of his mouth, and an upper lip that is thicker and more prominent than the lower. The brow and eye-rim inlays, partly missing, are apparently silver, and the sclera of the eye is calcite, painted black to mark the iris.
