Fuuuuuck me

it's finally done!! this comic took me about 26h 20min (and an overall time of over 2 months) and is based on the fic with the same name, written by @advena-perditus (you can find it here. check it out, it's very good)

a note: I'm still working on improving the designs of Tim and Sasha (I accidentally made Not!Sasha more similar to how I imagine Sasha, so I'll have to work on that, but I wasn't going to change the entire drawing for it), but I'm overall quite happy with how it turned out :)

Reasons why Jon Archivist is truly a character of all time:

Had the police called on him several times when he was a young child

Keeps his rib and the ashes of the season one antagonist next to his stationary drawer

Promised he wouldn’t get lost in tunnels and then immediately got lost in aforementioned tunnels

Has no clue what a joke is

Learned how remarkably easy it is to buy an ax in central London

Had to have two separate interventions

Told people his place of employment before traumatising them for life

The first character he ever said ‘I love you’ to is a cat

Allegedly participated in amdram

Watches documentaries and collects some kind of weird shit (my headcanon is Soviet Union postcards) when he’s not being a paranoid mess

Canonically looks like he hasn’t slept in weeks

Knows nothing about library science

Fell head over heels for a man that he hated until he learned he lied on his resumé

Just finished reading Cloud City & Yellow City. Absolutely amazing work, possibly the best Malevolent au out there. I love you so much.

I have a question which may be a bit weird, Why did you choose Parker Yang?

Don't get me wrong I love Parker and absolutely LOVE how you wrote him, legit the best character in the whole story, but I'm asking from, idk, let's say a casting perspective, why Parker? Most authors lean towards Charlie Dowd for second characters in Malevolent AUs. It's totally refreshing and we need more Parker, but I'm curious about the reason if you have one.

If the reason is simply that you vibed better with him, totally valid xD.

Oh my gosh, thank you!! I enjoyed writing those SO MUCH. There is a sequel in the works (Red City), though it'll take a little while to finish. :)

And as for why Parker... well, I started to wonder about him when I learned how he pursued Arthur. I accept Harlan's POV that he is straight (....sure thing), but I mean.

He bought the guy a PIANO, for crying out loud.

Realizing his last name was Yang exploded everything in me. A Chinese private eye in the 1930s? When he couldn't vote? Or own property? Yet he'd earned respect enough that they knew his name in Boston and beyond?

That... is a quality, incredible character. I love Dowd, too, don't misunderstand; I have quite a few stories coming with him. But Parker... well.

Parker has a whole hell of a lot more to overcome, especially if we really look at the way he pursued Arthur. Buying him food, refusing to let him drown in his booze, MOVING IN WITH HIM, sharing a business with him, that whole piano thing... all of that is canon.

Then we get the infamous line that he was better at "intimidating." I believe the quote was "smashing plates."

So this is a guy with the breadth of character (a) to own his own business and make waves as a CHINESE MAN in 1930s New England; (b) tough enough to punch his way through whatever, and unafraid to scare the crap out of witnesses; (c) tender enough to work with Arthur at his literal lowest and most self-destructive.

I adore him. Absolutely adore him. So yeah. He's going to feature in this year's Big Bang, too. :D

Funny thing, though. I focused on him in Yellow City so much because he's the driving force in Red City. We'll be following him back down to Cloud City and all the fallout there.

If you do not understand why unwanted pleasure is a violation and does NOT constitute “you really wanted this,” then I’m glad you never been assaulted, but guess what?

Abusers often tell their victims it’s their fault, they wanted it.

It is never true.

To the end, Jon kept being the person who threw himself into the Buried to save a woman who cut his throat.

That is why this is a tragedy and not due comeuppance. They deserved a happy ending.

God listening to Jon turning Jordan this time hit a lot harder. I didn’t really think that hard on it before, just thought “hey that’s fucked up. Jon clearly panicked seeing someone he knew suffer”

But this time I realized something. Jon has been watching this man in his dreams for years now. Every night he’s seen him suffering while he was unable to move, unable to help. And now here he is again. Jordan suffering, Jon watching. Except this time he can do something. And so he does cause he’s so desperate to HELP
