The Making of The Rings of Power Ep. 4 Behind the Scenes - wibbly wobbly uruk head - Lurka getting his armour tinkered with (and a nice look at the layering of chainmail and other materials) - some weapons can be seen and I think this is the best bts for uruk costumes - some concept art - a good sunlight look at "Fury" at the treeline - "Fury" getting his makeup fixed (why does he look so good there) - peak at Vrath lying on the ground after being killed by Arondir - an unnamed injured uruk - Adar being gorgeous (most gifs/pics get bigger when clicked, tell me if I missed a neat moment or detail!)

Ngl, sometimes I want to change the ending and have Adar take over the world.

I didn’t even like Jackson’s take on LOTR. He didn’t capture the magic and the mood. The Rings of Power did, at least for me. It felt like every detail was made with love.
if one more person says the PJ lotr films weren't made for profit and solely for love of Tolkien and they never did anything wrong ever, in contrast to evil evil ROP that is only for profit and is a cesspit of Sin and Bad Choices, i legally get to stab them

Who is the first human we see in The Rings of Power? It’s been a while since I’ve seen it.

I still can’t believe we were able to finish these in two separate countries in time to shoot them together at a con 😭 So much love for the Rings of Power costumes!

hey all guess what 👀👀👀
Galadriel is ready for Katsu! I just have a little hemming to do on the assuit for the sake of walking at the con (important) but I feel so happy with how she came together!

This. In many ways TROP captures the essence of Tolkien and the sense of depth of time and of the majesty of the first age far better than Peter Jackson’s movies captured anything. People who have spent time deep in the books feel that and love the show because of it.
i do think it's very funny the way some folks in the tolkien fandom talk about the rop fandom like they are poor wayward children who need to be coddled and brought into the light since they are only now discovering an entry point to tolkien's work, as if a huge portion of the rop fandom isn't also part of the greater legendarium fandom

‘LOTR: The Rings Of Power’: Vernon Sanders Talks Season 1 Return On Investment & Season 3 Renewal, Teases Faster Pace & Bigger Battles In Season 2
Tumblr media
Very interesting interview with Vernon Sanders, Head of Global TV for Amazon Studios, which gives us some spoilers and information about the future of the show.
Sanders confirmed that Amazon is still committed to Patrick and J.D.’s vision of telling the story over five seasons
QUESTION: How is production on Season 2 going?
SANDERS: It’s going great. Season 1 had so much establishing to do that we now get to have the fun of seeing the story ramp up as Sauron is revealed. And I think audiences can look forward to a show that, while it feels true to itself, feels like the stakes are ever higher and now that the rings are in play, seeing what they can do and seeing how the various factions within the world deal with those implications. I think it’s going to be really compelling.
Q: How is moving production from New Zealand to the UK going to impact Season 2?
SANDERS: We’re going to new lands, and there are new expansive things happening in season two. And part of the benefit of being in the UK is that we’re going to be able to shoot in places that look very different than what we saw in season one. We’re able to shoot all across Europe, and we will see some of that production value on screen.
Q: What did you learn from the experience of developing and producing Season 1 that you are applying to Season 2?
SANDERS: We’ve never done anything like this. So the whole production model, how to produce a show like this, the scale work, all that were things that we needed to learn for the first time in the process of making the show. We are going to be faster. We are going to be able to put more money on screen, just in terms of the scale and scope of what we’re doing now that we know how to do it. And I also think the pace of our story is going to increase in part because the story is demanding that now that everyone’s been established, the stakes are established, that we’re going to watch some characters in some lands go to war.
Q: Speaking of war, will we see bigger battles in Season 2?
SANDERS: Yes, I can say you will see bigger battles in season two including some iconic moments from the appendices and the books.
Sanders also said that the Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has been a company-wide success for Amazon, and their significant investment has more than paid off for rhem.
There is more information in the interview. Link below.

Looks like we got clarification about that whole “Charlie being replaced” rumor/possible spoiler thanks to the Fellowship of Fans podcast on YT as they had a new one about some spoilers they have for season 2 and it’s good news!!! :D Posting behind a cut but from what they revealed in the live chat section answering a fan’s question about it this actually makes sense and Charlie’s still the main Sauron too. Posting behind a cut as there’s other spoilers too involving Adar, Galadriel, Elrond, Isildur, Arondir, and a new original character, and posting a link to the video in the comments.

Some TROP news. I was sorry to see they recast Adar but it may be the actor’s choice or some other good reason so let’s hope it’s all good. I wonder which one of these may be Círdan.

the thing i love about this fandom is that it’s so small that it really feels like a community and like…we all love this show with such vehemence to push back against all the negativity. Love to see it.
Also all of the gloriously cringe thirst posts (affectionate!!) and gif usage remind me of my days on 2014 Tumblr and it brings me such joy.
