More thoughts on Sunrise on the Reaping:
At the end of the day, Haymitch is the perfect mix of both Katniss and Peeta.
While reading sotr I think that we all saw the parallelism between Haymitch and Katniss’s story:
1. They’re both the older sibling of the family.
2. Both of their fathers died in a mining accident. Living them to provide for their families.
4. The choices they make during the Games, especially deciding to be allies with the underdogs amongst the tribute, and the inescapable unsuccessful attempts to save those who they think deserve it more to live, that allows them to be the Victors at the end.
But at the same time I could not help but notice the resemblance between Haymitch and Peeta.
1. They know and live the horrors of the Games first hand, and start with the mind set that they not want to be changed by the Capitol.
Peeta’s: “I do not want to be a piece in their games.”
And Haymitch’s father’s quote: “Don’t let them use you, Sarshee. Don’t let them paint their posters with your blood. Not if you can help it.”
2. At the same time they both adapt quickly to the Games in order to survive. Haymitch by painting himself as the Rascal and Peet by being the affable star crossed lover of District 12. They’re both undervalued and not one would have thought them to turn out to be victors.
3. Both Haymitch and Peeta know full well that their lives are expendable if it would mean the definitive end of the Hunger Games. They are not scared to put others first in the end (e.g. Katniss, and Wellie as well as other Newcomers), as long as they play their part in taking down the Capitol’s show.
4. Peeta’s love for Katniss, no matter the adversities and the tragedies is similar to what Haymitch feels for Lenore Dove. They’re both tormented by Snow, that uses their feelings against them.
To finish, I think Haymitch sees in Katniss and Peeta the little good there is to be found in the Hunger Games: firstly, in the two kids’ bond, that however fabricated at the beginning becomes indissoluble.
Second of all, in the choices they keep on making, such as Katniss’s choice of allies in Catching Fire, and Peeta’s willingness to be expendable for the greater good.
One thing is for sure, at the end of the day the District 12 unlikely victors are what have allowed the Capitol’s dominion and the Hunger Games’ cruelty to tumble.

just finished reading this book and through all the tears and bewilderment I just have to admit the whole read was INSANELY hilarious in the weirdest way
I think it's very funny how basically everyone who matters knows Vis is a lying liar but they're all just dead wrong in guessing the truth

writers and artists will go "this isn't good enough." my brother in christ, you're creating something new out of nothing and expressing yourself creatively. your productivity and unrealistic standards of perfection do not define you or the worth of your art. you're doing great.

I am no peasant to be trodden upon. I am daughter of the great Lord Akechi Jinsai. My line has been samurai for a thousand years, and I will never be captive, or hostage, or confined. I am free to go as I please...

hello to whoever is still following me 💖 this account has been inactive for so long. It was born out of my love for the grishaverse and for writing, and has helped find so many wonderful people, some has remained long distance friends and some has become my closest friendships in real life. Then life did i what life does; I stopped studying, started working in a profession i adore and supporting myself, I needed time to dedicate to my relationships and some other not so nice stuff I had to deal with. After years tho life got a little slower again, and hear hear: I’m finally writing again! Event tho my love for fandoms is going strong, I finally took the courage to work on something original of mine, very slowly. I still don’t know what I will do with this account; probably use it for writing in general, still to enjoy a variety of fandoms, and maybe to share some snippets and ocs of my wip (which I already love so dearly) if any of you would like to share the amazement and excitement of writing. So hello again and don’t get scared if you don’t see as much zoyalai as usual (maybe still some of them lmfao), love to you all

The only thing I can say about writing right now is that you don’t need to polish or even finish everything you write. Unfinished works hold value just as intrinsically as finished ones; if finishing a project holds no appeal, move on. Maybe one day you’ll return to it, find an idea to nurture and raise. Maybe you’ll never look at it again, but the words were still written. The sentences were crafted. This unfinished thing is a sketch, then, forgotten in the depths of your sketchbook; why should we hold writers to different standards than other artists? Play around and have fun. Finish projects if you want to; move on if you don’t. Don’t guilt yourself over something with no moral bearing. Just write.
