3 High Performance, Low Profile 9mm Brands To Know About
Name brand isn’t everything, and these lesser known brands are worth knowing about so we put this list together of 9mm ammo Los Angeles for our readers.
The Precision Delta Brand
Precision Delta and its 124-grain PDR Pro really hits hard and across the board, it never misses a beat. This new brass, ultra-clean load was created for the competitor. At a cost of about 40 cents/round, the PDR Pro is a reasonably-priced load for match grade 9mm. Delta not only refers to the name of the brand but also the location of the Mississippi-based company, which is well known in the law enforcement and reloading community. Similar to other lesser-known brands, they don’t have a really pretty packaging but that doesn’t mean that the PDR Pro isn’t great.
Tumblr media
Allegiance Ammunition
The good people at Virginia’s Allegiance Ammunition keep making radically new types of frangible ammunition. There’s lots of hype in the ammo world, but the tests I’ve seen with this load have been impressive. They stand up great in home-defense and industrial situations. This one is a little more expensive than the Precision Delta, costing on average about $30 for a twenty-round, but the peace of mind you’ll feel is worth it.
LAX Ammunition
Our very own LAX brand ammunition is the last on our list of brands we recommend. Our ammunition has been widely used with a number of L.E.O. departments in proximity to our brick and mortar retailers and we supply bulk cases for low pricing online. The track record for our ammo is quite impressive and you’re sure to find the best combination of value and performance with our 9mm ammo rounds.

Better Powder For Better Accuracy
In the world of reloaded ammo, one of the main goals is to get the best accuracy possible. While we mostly account for our own skills to justify our accuracy, we often overlook the other factors that contribute. Simply put, what happens inside the barrel hugely impacts what comes out of it.
Tumblr media
One key attribute for accuracy is gunpowder. Unless if you’ve dabbled in the art of handloading, chances are you have rarely considered powders. Whether you are aware of it or not, the advancements in firearms is closely correlated with the advancement in powders. From the traditional black powder to today’s smokeless powders, the world of reloaded ammo has changed.
For starters, there are three forms of powder: stick, ball, and flake.
Stick Powders
The stick powder is a long strand-shape that is usually cut into varying lengths. This type of powder is mostly seen in rifle cartridges and is known for its slow burning rate.
Ball Powder
Ball powder works wonders for rifle cartridges with limited case capacities. There are also flattened ball powders which are perfect for shotgun shells because of their minimal powder movement in the shell.
Flake Powders
These powders hold the highest burning rate out of the bunch. Flake powders are more common for shotshells and handguns.
Tumblr media
If you are in the hobby of reloaded ammo, picking the right powder can be essential to getting the right velocity. The newer powders that are on the market are currently tackling the issue of temperature fluctuation and lot-to-lot variance. While these factors may still affect the ending velocity and accuracy, these powders still serve to be the most advanced powders to date.
Whether you are looking for a change in powder for your reloaded ammo, or you plan on sticking to your tried-and-tested powders, do not underestimate the affect that gunpowder has on your accuracy.

California Gun Laws are Changing
California Gun Laws have made big changes in 2018, and are projected to change in the coming years.
On our YouTube video, we’ve discussed some current and upcoming laws in 2019. One of the main laws that will be coming into effect is that ammunition must be out of touch for the consumer. Consumers will not be able to personally touch or grab the ammunition with assistance from the store. At LAX Ammunition, we’ve put our ammo in a gated area and our staff must go in with customers to help retrieve them. This law will be taking place in 2018.
Tumblr media
Ammo Registration Cards
The biggest law change in California is that starting July 1st, 2019, gun owners will need to purchase an “Ammo Registration” card. These will cost customers about $50 and need to be shown in order to purchase ammo from vendors. After customers have purchased their ammunition, vendors are required to record if ammunition buyers are purchasing 500 rounds or more of ammo. We are expecting a rush before that time, where customers can buy as much ammo as they’d like without vendors having to record that information down.
Tumblr media
Learn More
We explain further California Gun Laws that will be going into effect later in the year and how it could potentially affect gun owners and/or ammunition buyers. We know these are big changes that will be taking place in the upcoming months. We have multiple resources for our customers to learn more about current or upcoming California Gun Laws as well as those happening in other states, and hope that our customers are prepared with the right information.
Find out more information from our Youtube video here .

The Importance of Ammo Testing
There are many who believe all ammunition is the same. The truth of the matter is that 9mm ammo you bought today could fire differently from previous rounds.
Testing your ammunition is an absolute must when ensuring the most optimal results for your uses. Blindly accepting community standards will leave your ammunition performance in the hands of fate. Not being in control of an easily controllable variable puts you at greater risk when faced with a life-threatening situation.
Tumblr media
Variable Rounds
Known high-quality loads are reliable based on their reputation but a gun owner will never truly know the reliability in these rounds unless they research proper third-party tests or test the rounds themselves. Informal testing of this sort can give you first-hand knowledge of metrics like which ammunition lines perform poorly or which ammunition penetrate way too shallowly.
These small differences may seem insignificant to gun owners. However, a malfunctioning or underperforming round could mean life or death in a situation. For example, a 9mm JHP unable to expand normally could reduce its stopping power and fail in bringing down an aggressor.
Tumblr media
Third-party Testing vs Expert Knowledge
Though it is important to witness or perform informal testing, know that you and most people performing these tests are likely not experts. Therefore, creating and voicing your own opinion of specific ammunition based on these tests alone doesn’t replace the findings of professional, scientifically-based results. We must refer to actual expert findings. Read and observe the metrics the experts use and results they achieve. Finally, we can apply those concepts to our own personal findings. Measure against and compare these two knowledge sources. With this, you can create informed choices about the ammunition you wish to use.
About LAX Ammo
We are an online ammunition store stocked with all brands and all calibers, like the .40 S&W and 9mm ammo. We are committed to providing quality products from the comfort of your own home. Visit our site to shop today and be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Facing Off: 357 Magnum or 45 ACP?
Tumblr media
There’s no arguing that both the .45 ACP and the .357 Magnum are powerful and effective rounds. They are both American made, iconic, and time-tested. The .45 ACP has served our military men well while the .357 Mag had aided lawmen and hunters alike. So, which of these two titans is better than the other? Let’s take a deeper look and when we’re done you can stop by our ammo store and buy some high-quality, cheap ammo.
The .45 ACP
The legendary John Browning designed the .45ACP in 1905 specifically for the U.S. Military. The soldiers on the front line need a powerful round that could stop their enemies in their tracks. Despite being a larger and slower-moving bullet the .45ACP proved to be more effective than a high-velocity round. In fact, the Thompson submachine gun was loaded with 230-grain .45 ACP cartridges since it allowed for a friction-delayed blowback action.
Even though the .45ACP has a lot of stopping power there is only a moderate amount of recoil, making it a relatively easy round to handle. Pair with a greater wound channel and the .45 ACP becomes a great self-defense round.  One of the few downsides of the round is despite being well stocked in ammo stores everywhere it can get a little pricey. Additionally, because of its size, carrying capacity becomes somewhat limited.
The .357 Magnum
The .357 Magnum was developed in the 1930s as a direct response to cars and the bulletproof vests that gangsters began using around that time.  The .38 Super Automatics were no longer doing an adequate job and lawmen needed something more powerful. The .357’s early design is credited to Elmer Kieth but it wasn’t until Smith and Wesson’s improvements that the .357’s popularity soared. While the .357 Mag has less energy propelling it, it’s higher velocity and smaller size resulted in greater penetration than other revolver-based magnums.
Bonus: revolvers chambered for .357 Magnums are capable of firing the cheaper .38 Special bullets, meaning that you could practice more with your revolver of choice with a less expensive round. As with any good thing, there are a few downsides; there is heavy recoil, muzzle blast, and of course, low carry capacity.
The Winner Is
There are going to be die-hard supporters on both sides of the argument and to them, this may seem like a bit of a cop-out, but there is no clear winner between the two legendary rounds. To really answer this question, you’ll have to consider what application the round will be used for. If you’re looking for a wallet-friendly, versatile round, your winner is definitely the .357.  Plus, it can be used as an effective hunting and self-defense round. If you’re looking for a solid, unbeatable self-defense round, that has the ultimate amount of stopping power than .45 ACP should have a home in your gun safe.

Why .22LR Remains One of the Most Popular Rounds
Tumblr media
22LR ammo is one of the most popular and commonly used rounds of ammunition. It is used in shooting competitions, beginner shooters use it to learn fundamentals, and for small-game hunting. It is most commonly associated with being a new shooter’s round who want to improve their understanding of guns. But, the round has been a staple in the firearm industry and culture since its inception.
22 LR has a long history and is one of the most popular rounds today.
.22 LR originally debuted in 1887 and remains one of the most purchased calibers, to-date.  It was made by U.S. manufacturers J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co. when combining a .22 long case and a 40-grain bullet from the .22 Extra Long. The .22 LR gained popularity as manufacturers sped up production on rifles and pistols. After the smokeless gunpowder was introduced, .22 LR ammo took on an unprecedented popularity.
Smokeless powder had increased velocity and made the round more effective for small game.
.22LR had achieved a reputation for its use in sporting and target competitions. Its switch to smokeless gunpowder made it a good round for small game. This small change was so significant and changed the round into a basic commodity for survival. Since then, the cartridge has not changed and has only taken on small enhancements.
Who is .22LR ammo is ideal for?
Each round is limited to low pressures because of their size. They require a thin casing to allow the firing pin to spark the primer, giving it its name “rimfire”.  As a result, the ammo provides low recoil impulse, making it easier and quieter to handle. These are the perfect rounds for those seeking to learn basic shooting fundamentals before using stronger ammunition.
Tumblr media
.22LR can be utilized in a variety of firearms available in the United States.
The .22 LR can be used in revolvers, pistols, single-shot rifles, semi-autos, bolt-actions. The round may even be used in scaled-down AR-15 clones for those really crazy about it.  With a variety of choices, the .22 LR has become a staple in the shooting and ammunition industry. It has a long history and will continue to keep a reputation for being the cheapest and easiest to find ammo cartridge.

Nine Most Common Ballistic Terms
Tumblr media
Long-range shooting is a popular pastime for shooters today, enough that it’s inspired new models of purpose-designed rifles and optics. The act of being able to accurately place shots consistently is crucial for hunting, tactical and recreational purposes. This has spawned the creation and adoption of numerous terms associated with ballistics. LAX Ammo, a great place with guns and ammo for sale, explains several ballistic terms commonly used by shooters.
Trajectory
Trajectory is the way the bullet moves as it launches towards a target. Elements such as gravity, wind, and air resistance affect its path of travel. The trajectory is parabolic; meaning that it begins beneath a shooters line of sight, ascends above it, then drops again as gravity pulls it down.
Velocity
As bullets exit a firearm’s muzzle, it does so at a specific speed, or velocity. As it faces air resistance and gravitational pull, velocity decreases slowly until it runs out of energy to travel. It’s imperative to know the velocity to calculate how well a bullet will expand or mushroom when hitting a target, or lack thereof.
Ballistic Coefficient
Commonly abbreviated to ‘BC’ for short, this term refers to a bullet’s aerodynamics. Long, smooth bullets with sharp tips flow through the air more efficiently than bullets with flat or non-pointy tips, which sustains a more consistent velocity. Bullets with high BC’s are essential to long-range shooters; as the trajectory is more stabilized, they wander in the wind less, and sustain their energy and expansion – all of which improve velocity and stopping power.
Wind Drift
This term defines itself, since any present wind alters its path of travel, making it drift.  Typically, drifts are lateral, but can be vertical if shooting parallel to a steep mountain slope with wind travelling up or down the grade.
Drop
Drop is very similar to trajectory. As air friction reduces velocity and gravity pulls a bullet down, it drops to the earth’s surface. This is reduced or eliminated by calculating the amount of drop between yourself and your intended target, then point and shoot the gun high so the bullet will drop into the target.
Minute of Angle
Minute of angle is an angular measurement for reticles inside of an optic which measures inches in 100-yard increments. This comes in handy when hunting or hitting small targets at long distances, so you can adjust your hold when ready to shoot.
Mil-Dot, Milling
Similar to MOA, the milling system utilizes angular measurement instead of linear measurement. Military shooters swear by its superiority over the MOA system. It allegedly dominates in mechanical rangefinding, which laser rangefinders do electronically. Windage adjustment turrets on these optics are measured in mils and tenth mils.
DOPE
Shooters commonly use this term freely, which is an acronym for ‘data on previous engagements.’ The ‘engagements’ aren’t hostile types, but instead shots engaging any type of target. Most experienced long-range shooters keep a log book recording conditions, shot distances, and results which prove to be invaluable when practicing or competing.
Pressure
This pressure isn’t the one exerted inside of a firearm when shot, but atmospheric pressure, or air density. As mentioned earlier, air density affects velocity, and the amount of friction generated by temperature and altitude determines the amount of bullet drop. Higher altitudes have less drop, and lower altitudes have more drop.

Make the Switch to 9mm
Tumblr media
The 9mm cartridge is an excellent choice for handgun shooters. Some people advocate for larger calibers, like the .45 ACP or .357 Magnum but the lower recoil and quicker follow-up shots from a 9mm are irrefutable benefits. Although the never-ending debate of larger rounds being deadlier continues, the fact that the FBI, Navy Seals, and multiple police departments are switching or reverting to 9mm handguns proves that it works. LAX Ammo, a dealer with the best 9mm ammo for sale, explains why the 9mm is superior.
Shootability
Shooting a 9mm just as accurately, if not more so than a larger caliber, has been proven countless times. Lethality for any handgun caliber is determined by shot placement, not caliber size. When placed properly, the stopping power and ballistic capability of a 9mm are equally comparable to larger calibers.
Choices
Gun manufacturers produce more handguns chambered in 9mm than any other caliber. Having more choices enables you to find the right handgun which suits your needs and physique instead of trying to adapt your style or controls to something that packs a bigger punch. The more comfortable and familiar you are with the gun, the more accurate and confident you will be with shot placement.
Durability
Mechanical parts wear out over time, which is accelerated with larger calibers and their higher pressures and stress. The average life expectancy of a 9mm handgun is typically up to 100,000 rounds on several models. Granted, some models of .40 S&W and .45 ACP utilize heavier springs and greater wall thickness to compensate, though the outcome is nearly the same.
Capacity
Generally, nobody wants magazines with low capacities. Most shooters buy extended magazines or magazine extenders, and the smaller cartridge size of the 9mm allows a greater capacity to be used.
Efficiency
Pistols chambered in 9mm have a proven track record of reliability. Though the 1911 is a popular choice for many, a few types of ammo like hollow points can affect its ability to shoot. Still, a plethora of alternatives and revised designs allow you to utilize the 9mm in the most effective ways possible.
Cost Effectiveness
Money is a primary concern for many. For target practice, you’ll be hard-pressed to buy bulk ammunition for less than what you would pay for 9mm rounds. More ammo allows you to shoot more and be more prepared for when you need it the most.
About LAX Ammo
LAX Ammo is a great ammunition dealer based in Los Angeles, CA. They have the best selection, prices, and variety of ammo, and their 9mm ammo for sale is nothing short of amazing. Most Asked Questions About Concealed Carry
Tumblr media
Many of us have either witnessed, participated, or faced the inquiries of our peers about our opinions on guns. In particular, carrying them in a concealed fashion. Depending on which direction these conversations go, they can either be informative or alienating. Those who carry a concealed firearm tend to keep this fact to themselves for their safety and privacy. There are five questions which are asked the most of those carrying a concealed firearm. Let’s dive into these questions and when we’re done stop by and pick up some cheap ammo, from LAX!
Why?
We credit pro-second amendment groups like USCCA and others for educating the public about the right to bear arms and appreciate what this right does to our benefit. When the question still arises as to ‘why’ we carry a concealed firearm, the responses go along the lines of personal protection and liberty, as well as their constitutional right; such as: “Because I can.” “It’s my right to do so.” “I refuse to be a victim of a violent crime.” When these rational statements begin to hopefully resonate with those who question licensed carriers, the conversation might be shifted towards the inquirer about why they don’t carry and go from there. Granted, there will always be a debate of worldviews worth considering; like moral character, the logistics of evil, and such.
How Often?
Following the reasoning behind carrying a concealed firearm, the inquirer may possibly see this matter in a new perspective. When asked about how often one carries, the carrier will often reply: “Everywhere and anywhere I can.” This can include the following, but not limited to: the bank, supermarket, gas station, work, and in one’s home. Carrying a concealed pistol for personal protection demands a particular mindset; one that disregards naïve life assumptions and increases awareness about events that could (but commonly won’t) happen – all while simultaneously keeping an affable, considerate behavior and being comfortable when carrying a gun.
Are You Carrying Now?
This question is frequently coupled with an ocular body scan and occasionally the questioner stepping back in an effort to put some distance between you and them. The question isn’t asked out of fear or doubt, but of fascination. Depending on the setting and given situation, the carrier will commonly respond with an ambiguous response without saying yes or no, directly. Exposed is the opposite of concealed, so any disclosure about a hidden firearm doesn’t make it concealed. Regardless of the reason why someone will ask if one is currently carrying, the carrier will generally refrain from pointing out where the gun is hidden or showing the gun.
Do You Carry While You’re At ____?
This is contingent on how often you carry but this question allows the carrier to fill in the blank as the least expected place or situation to carry a concealed firearm. At a friend’s house? At work? At the mall? This question from the inquirer is most likely asked to test the strength of your convictions and self-defense mentality and see if there is a time or place where carrying a handgun would be unsuitable or out of line. A better fitting question is if there is a place where one refuses to carry and why.
Do You Know Anyone Who Carries?
After gathering all the information about carrying a concealed firearm, the questioner will usually ask if you know anyone else who carries innately. Disclosing the names of others who carry goes against the whole concept of ‘concealed’ carry, so the best response is to inform the questioner that there are countless amounts of other people from all backgrounds who think alike and practice their right to carry, more so than the questioner thought was possible. The best recourse depending on the circumstances of the conversation is to shift the topic of the conversation unto the questioner, and inquire about how interested they are in self-defense or shooting in general, or lack thereof. The idea isn’t to get your questioner to carry concealed immediately after the conversation, but to give useful resources and information to educate them more about the matter and what they can do if vested in taking responsibility for their personal safety into their own hands.

Gun Sales Decrease  Despite President Trump’s Support
Tumblr media
After years of living in fear that the US government would create tighter gun controls, Americans’ fear vanished after President Trump’s election. As a new and reloaded ammunition store, we are happy to know stricter federal gun laws are not in the near future. But if it seems to good to be true, it may be.
Donald Trump Shows Support
During his presidential campaign, President Trump claimed he was a “true friend” of gun rights activists. Now that gun rights activists have the president on their side, they are no longer scared of having their gun rights taken away.
Despite The Support, Gun Sales Are Decreasing
Although Trump continues to show his support towards gun rights activist, gun and ammunition manufacturers are noticing a dramatic decrease in sales. Recent reports show that gun manufacturers are decreasing their stock prices as a result of slow gun sales and accessories. Many believe this decrease is a result of Americans feeling safe when it comes to keeping their gun rights, and as a result, there is a decrease in demand.
Tumblr media
America’s Gun Debate
Ironically, current gun sales are showing that anti-gun politicians help boost profits for the firearms industry, while pro-gun politicians are hurting them. During President Obama’s presidency, gun users were constantly afraid that they weren’t able to buy guns anymore and therefore, made sure to buy one before it was too late. Now that the fear is gone, Americans are in no rush to buy guns.
What do you think about this unexpected situation? Let us know your thoughts.

Where Do Americans Stand On The Topic Of Guns And Gun Ownership?
When looking to buy ammo online, LAX Ammo stands out from the rest by providing their customers with the highest quality ammunition for affordable prices.
Tumblr media
The topic of guns and gun control tends to be a very polarizing issue in American society. It tends to ignite fiery debates amongst individuals across party lines. The most recent polls show us where Americans currently stand on the issue - where they agree with one another, and where they disagree.
Demographics Of Gun Owners
Of the adults surveyed by the American Trends Panel, those identifying as white are most likely to be gun owners than any other ethnicity.  Geographical differences are also seen with 46% of gun owners living in rural regions compared to 19% of those living in urban areas. Lastly, gun ownership is strongly related to political association with 44% of Republicans saying they own a gun, compared to only 20% of Democrats.
Where Do Gun Owners And Non-Owners Agree?
Despite all of their differences, there are a few areas where both gun owners and non-owners agree upon specific issues. 89% of both gun owners and non-owners agree that there need to be restrictions put into place to prevent the mentally ill from purchasing guns. Additionally, 83% of all adults surveyed agree upon the fact that those people on no-fly or watch lists should be barred from owning guns. The final area where consensus exists amongst the groups is the ease with which people can illegally obtain guns greatly contributes to the gun violence across the nation.
Where Do Gun Owner And Non-Owners Disagree?
On the other hand, the polarities between the two groups are much more prevalent. When discussing essentials to freedom in America, 74% of gun owners say this is a quintessential right, whereas only 35% of non-owners agree with the same statement. Some other areas where there is substantial polarization include creating a federal database to track gun sales and banning assault-style weapons. Additionally, allowing concealed carry in more places and allowing teachers and officials to carry guns in K-12 schools has 67% of gun owners being in favor and 36% of non-owners being against it.

Best Self Defense Ammunition for Handguns
Tumblr media
Finding the right ammunition for self-defense purposes while carrying a concealed handgun can be challenging given the wide array of different choices available. The first decision to make is to find a handgun that offers the right amount of control, concealability, manipulation, and caliber to give you the best fit and function for any given situation and/or setting you may encounter. Once this has been determined, choosing the right ammunition is crucial since firearms and ammo work in unison and cannot be substituted. Although shooters focus more energy on choosing the optimum firearm, it is useless without the correct ammunition due to the fact that the firearm is the transporter of the ammo. Also, the bullet is the tool which fulfills the ultimate purpose of hitting a target. If you’re looking for the best self-defense ammunition, buy some from LAX Ammo, an excellent online ammunition store supplying great choices of quality ammo for less than you think.
Bullets
A term used by shooters which best explains the efficiency of a bullet is ‘stopping power.’ Though shooters commonly think that stopping power and caliber go hand-in-hand with each other, the reality is that this belief is very misleading and false. The reason why they are not correlated is due to factors such as recoil, bullet composition, and the materials used to make them. For instance, two common bullets such as lead and FMJ have very distinct characteristics and purposes. Lead bullets tend to expand swiftly given their soft metal, though all-lead bullets decompose quickly and sacrifice penetration. On the other hand, FMJ bullets with their hard copper shells provide exceptional penetration, but at the risk of over penetration which means that it fails to transmit all of its energy, thus reducing stopping power. This is why using larger calibers isn’t the wisest choice, and explains why the right ammunition must be used.
Design
After learning about stopping power, the remaining aspects of self-defense bullets can be explored. Since the creation of gunpowder, we have yet to find the perfect bullet due to the myriad of factors that determine how a bullet is effectively fired from a particular firearm. For example, a 9mm bullet shot from a full-size 1911 with a 5-inch barrel will perform differently than if it was fired from a 2 or 3-inch compact pistol. Longer barrels give a better powder burn, which typically returns an increased velocity. The variation in bullet speed determines how it spreads, which alters the penetration and stopping power. Since manufacturers of ammo do not know what gun you use, the barrel length, the layers of clothing your target wears (or lack thereof), they have constructed powders with variable burn rates, as well as a range of bullet core and jacket combos to alter the rate of expansion. This allows the shooter to narrow down the right amount of penetration, expansion, and energy transfer necessary for any given target or situation they encounter.
Decision Making Process
Whether you choose to carry a large, 6-inch barreled revolver, or a Glock 43 with a 3.39-inch barrel, and if your threat will be wearing a simple t-shirt or multiple layers of thick winter clothing, these are some factors to take into consideration when deciding on which self-defense ammunition you use.  In spite of the fact that there is no bullet that fits the bill for all situations and guns, the efficiency of your self-defense ammo can be greatly enhanced by picking the best fit and function for your choice of pistol and carrying method. To answer the question of what ammunition should be used, there is a list of excellent choices with one common goal – neutralizing the threat as quickly and effectively as possible.
Shooting a variety of different defense rounds and seeing what works best is your due diligence in finding what fits the bill for your expectations. With the reasonable cost of premium ammunition and a group of your friends going to the range to test out different rounds, you’ll have a wide range of choices while minimizing the expense.

Good News: There Are California-Compliant AR-15 Style Rifles
Tumblr media
In response to California’s legislation on restricting certain features found on AR-15 style rifles, gun companies like FN have introduced featureless, compliant MSRs for Californian gun buyers. Gun enthusiasts in the Golden state have a limited amount of options of what they can legally purchase for MSRs, which is why certain gun companies decided to cater towards the demand for compliant sporting rifles. For instance, FN America, LLC saw California’s gun regulations as an opportunity to expand their FN-15 line with their new, compliant tactical carbine models. When you need ammo for your AR-15, order it from a dependable online ammunition store like LAX Ammo, offering new and reloaded .223 and 5.56 ammo for less.
Models and Features
FN’s two new MSRs, the Tactical Carbine II and DMR II, give Californian gun buyers reliable, quality MSRs that follow their state’s regulations. With the exception of many common features found on an AR-15, these two new rifles sport Hera CQR stocks replacing the traditional pistol grip and thumbhole stock, and a 10 round Magpul PMag magazine compliant with detachable magazine restrictions. The Tactical model features a 16 inch, cold-hammer-forged, free-float barrel, with a chrome-lined finish on the inside to fight corrosion, as well as a SureFire ProComp 556 muzzle brake and a trigger rendered by FN as their ‘Combat Trigger.’ The DMR with its slightly longer 18-inch barrel incorporates a 1-in-7-inch twist and a 3.5-pound Timney match trigger.
Receiver and Rail
Each gun uses an aluminum receiver with a hard-anodized finish. An A3 flat top rail coupled with FN Rail System gives unceasing mounting surfaces for scopes and other attachments. The rail utilizes M-Lok attachment points which support additional accessory mounts. A quick-detach sling attachment on the stock allows each gun to be carried with ease.
Pricing
FN’s new California-compliant MSRs are priced at $1,799 for the Tactical Carbine II and $2,099 for the DMR.

Brief History of the 10 MM
Tumblr media
It is hard for us to believe everything we hear when it comes to making claims about what will be the new best cartridge.  In order to provide real, hard evidence, the cartridge must be tried and tested in multiple situations.  From this testing, we look for statistics based on physics because they are difficult to argue with.  However, in terms of new ammunition, there are not many cartridges that equally compete with the epic 10mm ammo cartridge.
Wretched Beginnings
On April 11, 1986, two FBI agents pursued two bank robbers on the streets of Miami.  Agents Jerry Dove and Ben Grogan got caught in a firefight with the two criminals and were unfortunately killed during active duty.  Other agents came as backup but they were injured as well. These law enforcement officials were armed with cartridges such as the .38 special, .357 magnum, 12 gauge shotgun, and 9 mm semi-auto.  However, suspects William Matrix and Michael Platt took about 6 to 12 shots before they eventually succumbed to their wounds, and this was a major concern.
Changes
Due to this event and the succeeding North Hollywood shootout, law enforcement began to make some changes.  First, they got rid of the revolver from the duty belt.  Although the revolver had served its’ purpose for many years, it did not have enough firepower or ammunition capacity to take down criminals in a quick manner.  The second change revolved around the need to find a new cartridge that was superior to the ones the bad guys had.
Research
Within the same year, the FBI research and development team began working on finding the cartridge that would fulfill this need.  Assessments were performed on various test mediums including different clothing fabrics, ballistic gels, and other barriers.  The goal was to find a cartridge that would damage the central nervous system and cause quick incapacitation.   Additionally, the FBI wanted the bullet to penetrate anywhere from 12 to 18 inches in order to ensure massive blood loss and pronounced bullet expansion.
Birth of the 10 MM Auto
Overall, the research team was striving to develop a bullet that was the perfect blend between two of its’ predecessors.  The cartridge had to have greater external ballistics than the .45 ACP and greater terminal ballistics than the 9 mm Parabellum.  The result was the 10 mm Auto ammo designed by Jeff Cooper, who is now recognized as a legend in the ammunition and firearm industry.  The 10 mm was substantially better than the 9mm in terminal and exterior ballistics.  It was also superior to the .45 ACP in terms of external ballistics, but they were relatively similar in terminal ballistics.
The main downfall of the 10 mm ammo cartridge was its’ internal ballistics.  The pressure and recoil exuded by the 10 mm was a bit too hard to tame in a firearm that could hold numerous rounds. Therefore, a majority of agents had a difficulty controlling this beastly cartridge.  The FBI messed around with the idea of a 10 mm light, but they realized that this design defeated the purpose.
10 MM Ammo Today
After the FBI developed the 10mm ammo, they quickly stopped using it.  This was due to the .40 S & W, which is a great cartridge overall.  The 10 mm auto did not have anything wrong with it; it was just difficult to control.  Therefore, if you can handle it, go ahead and use it.  It has everything the .40 S & W has to offer with a bit more kick to it!

Shooting Gloves Explained
Tumblr media
Gun owners commonly ponder while shooting: are shooting gloves required? Whether you’re a civilian, active military service member, or law enforcement officer, those who exclude shooting gloves question their necessity. If shooters simply don’t consider using gloves when shooting, their importance is left unknown. Although shooting without gloves doesn’t seem like it can hinder one’s performance, the reality is that it does more harm than good. A wiser choice, however, is to buy ammo online from a leading supplier like LAX Ammo.
Necessity
Training with shooting gloves is not an option, but necessary. Experienced shooters who use gloves frequently agree that your ability and manual dexterity to shoot will improve significantly from using gloves. Even when you shoot without gloves on, prior experience of using them frequently enhances your technique. However, if your training excludes shooting gloves entirely and is then expected to use them during an evaluation or tactical situation, your ability to learn and adapt to the different feel of using gloves will have a steeper learning curve.
Types
There are different types of shooting gloves; such as carbine and rifle gloves, pistol gloves, and warm gloves.  Each one has different purposes, strengths and weaknesses, and materials, offering the correct amount of protection and capabilities for every activity. Aside from protection, gloves enable your hands to grip and operate the firearm you use to maximize your control and safety over the firearm.
Pistol Gloves
Pistol gloves focus on being thinner in overall thickness and materials. Since pistols are handheld firearms which require movement and operation from the hands and fingers, they don’t require as much padding and depth because too much of either would render a pistol difficult to use. Cuffs are the next distinction in pistol gloves, with Velcro and elastic as the two choices. Elastic cuffs are stretchable and adaptive to different sizes and shapes of wrists, while Velcro cuffs allow the user to manually adjust the tightness of the cuffs.
Rifle or Carbine Gloves
Rifle or carbine gloves are much thicker in padding and have stronger materials. Considering how the operations are limited to switching the safety on or off, pulling the trigger, reloading, and occasionally sighting in a scope, a greater amount of thickness and toughness in the materials is justified. This thicker glove enables the user to know which button, lever, or switch is which, making the firearm easier to use.
Warm Gloves
Lastly, warm gloves are made for keeping the hands warm in brisk weather. Many of these gloves are made of wool, which is known to sustain warmth even when wet. The only drawbacks are bulkiness in design and lack of durability since most are made more for keeping hands warm and winter sports rather than shooting, respectively.

Are Those Fireworks or a 44 Magnum?
The Fourth of July is right around the corner and some of the most patriotic symbols people can think of for this special celebration is the American flag, bald eagle, fireworks, and guns.  So today, we’re going to look at one of the most iconic and widely used cartridges, the .44 magnum.
Tumblr media
 History of the 44 Magnum
During the early to mid 1900’s, Elmer Keith, an Idaho rancher and firearms enthusiast got a group of his fellow enthusiasts together, and they began to develop the staple .44 magnum.  Obviously during that time period, their mindset could be considered “old-school” compared to modern times, and it sure was.  Today most people want to be able to shoot smooth, low recoil handguns, but back in the day, Keith and others believed in the hand-cannon methodology.  Through a few years of hard work and experimental tweaks, they were finally able to produce just what they wanted.  The .44 magnum has practically turned into a beefed up .44 Special.  Although the .44 magnum is more brutal on the hands compared to other handgun ammunition options, it is still very popular, and here’s part of the reason why.
Hollywood Debut of the 44 Magnum
Tumblr media
Does anyone remember the film Dirty Harry from the 70’s? If you’ve heard about it or know anything about it, you’re probably familiar with the famous Smith & Wesson Model 29 that Clint Eastwood used to take down the bad guys.  In 1955, Smith & Wesson and Remington joined forces to design and build the popular Model 29.  However, this revolving handgun was built extremely heavy because it had to be able to handle the power of the .44 magnum.  So contrary to conventional belief, the .44 magnum cartridge made this the most powerful handgun, not the gun itself.
 The Magnum Today
Much of the popularity surrounding the .44 magnum stemmed from the movie Dirty Harry, but people still seem to enjoy its rugged an old school nature.  The velocity behind the .44 magnum is so strong that it can pierce through a car and its’ engine block, even though most people don’t use it for that purpose.  It has primarily become a prominent part of the handgun-hunting arena because it can travel at speeds ranging from 1,420 to 1,700 feet per second depending on the make and model.  That’s much faster than your typical Fourth of July firework, and freakishly close to the energy that a 30-30 rifle can produce.  That being said, it is definitely strong enough to pierce through most large game in North America.
So if you’re looking to be extra patriotic this summer, visit LAX Ammo’s firing range to try your hand at a .44 magnum.  You can reminisce on your favorite Dirty Harry scenes, and enjoy this holiday with a completely different sort of “boom”!  For additional information, you can visit our site at https://www.laxammo.com/, or follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Best .223 Load For Each Activity
Tumblr media
The AR-15 is so versatile that it can be used for recreational shooting, game hunting, competition shooting or personal defense, as long as you have skilled shooter and the right .223 ammo load.
Competition
There are different types of competition that we should take into consideration. For a three-gun competition, you’ll need reliability and the loads that we cover in the recreation section would work perfectly. Long-range stages at a three-gun competition will demand a more accurate load. From our experience, using the Federal American Eagle 55-grain top will work excellent in these stages due to their accuracy and reliability. Hornady loads tend to dominate the field, while the U.S. Marine Corps use the 777-grain OTM. There are several excellent choices, test them out and match the load to your rifle.
Recreation
It is likely that a large portion of .223 rounds fired in the United States are fired for recreational purposes. When it comes to recreational shooting, the best choice will always be the least expensive, quality ammunition you can get your hands on. Check what’s on sale, but Remington UMC and Winchester USA are always reasonably priced.  Avoid foreign powder, as they tend to be dirty and require extra effort to clean the bolt of carbon deposits.
It would be the most cost efficient to purchase recreational .223 ammo in bulk. Our LAX new and reloaded ammunition never fails. It is ideally priced and is reliably smooth and accurate.
Personal Defense
If you’re looking for the best personal defense .223 ammo, you’ll need something that is reliable and has high cartridge integrity since you need something that can be stored, and ready for you to use at a moments notice. Most of us here have adopted the Hornady 62-grain because of its affordability, availability, and predictability. It is also accurate and versatile.
Medium-Sized Game
You can drop a buck with a single .223 shot when you use the Winchester 69-grain JSP. With this load, you’ll get an excellent balance of penetration and expansion that will mushroom instead of fragment.
About LAX Ammo
All of the cartridges that we’ve recommended are all the great quality, but the choice is yours, choose a load that performs reliably and accurately with your own rifle. You can check out all of the .223 ammo available on our site, and don’t forget about our own brand name new and reloaded .223 ammo, which can be used for any of these tasks.
