One massive, legitimate way to improve as a writer or artist or in any creative endeavor really, is to become absolutely obsessed with something and to allow yourself to be weird about it. Genuinely mean this btw.

Rlly need to accept it as a rule, like it's not always possible to make the wholeass 500+ visual novel, u can just do short comics/stories and if u feel like it u can make a bigger story from there

Not everything needs to be a full story, you know?

If you have just one or two scenes that you’re really excited about, you can just write those. You don’t have to create a full WIP to contain them if you don’t want.

You can create characters without putting them into a project, they can just exist.

You can worldbuild for a universe that you never write about.

If there’s a trope you really want to write, but you don’t have a project to put them in… You can just write the best parts of that trope on its own.

Even if you do have a story and there’s parts you don’t want to write, it’s okay to just write the parts that you’re excited about. You don’t need to write the other parts and make it a full story.

I feel like in writing, there’s a lot of emphasis put on completion and writing a full story.

Completion or a full story doesn’t always have to be the purpose or goal. It’s okay and wonderful to just let something exist on its own without anything else.

So I decided not to wait for the perfect setting and start acting right now right here for some of the stuff I was dreaming about and started buying myself my very own library. First of all, good thing I started it now because it's not a fast task to complete since I'm reading all the books I buy and books r pricey ASF so yeah. Second - not all the books I bought I liked, looking at u Dracula. Hopefully I'll have my own apartment to store all these 10+ new books hehehehe.

Anyways this month I'm reading "A Brief Atlas of the Lighthouses at the End of the World" and it's rlly nice stuff. Highly recommend to check it out if u like maps and lighthouses and know not so much about lighthouses. I normally read the article about the lighthouse and then dig additional information about it on the internet which is fun and kinda adds more to my creative drive (??) IDK, I guess I just like lighthouses. Hehehehe.

I'm also reading "How to lie with maps" rn and it's fun too, although definitely a tad bit more difficult read than the lighthouse book.

Also if anyone has good non-fiction book recommendations about mycology, lighthouses, maps, occult and reference books - please share.
