i get so frustrated when people post about missing the old rpc and blame the community at large for a lack of investment or care, as if we haven't all grown older and taken on incredible amounts of responsibility in the years since we joined the rpc. some people expect us all to still be teenagers with endless amounts of free time to respond to every message and reply instantly to threads.

if you care about this community, you have to respect the fact that a majority of us are 25+ now, and work and family and health situations and other irl obligations will always come before participating in this hobby.

instead of lamenting that we'll never be the way we were back then, uplift your mutuals. interact with them. post dash games. like and comment on posts. send memes. reblog promos. engage with the writers in this community. as we all get older and our lives change, our relationship with this hobby will also change. we have to band together to keep this community safe, creative, and fun for all, regardless of how much time we can spend participating in it.

'Apologize to me?' Thought Black Star, stunned by Prin's choice of words. Clear as day that the feline wasn't used to such high praise. She rubs the back of her head with a hand and grins sheepishly.

"Well.. ah.. alright." Clearing her throat, Black Star turns to the wall and walks toward it. After rubbing her hands together, Black Star exhales and reaches her right arm upward, then presses her right hand into the wall. Followed by her feet. Lastly she would place her left hand, a little higher than the right one, flat on the wall. After a heavy grunt, the chubby feline hoisted herself upwards and began to climb the wall like a lizard.

The sinner was also quite modest, her cheeks blushing while doing her climb. A few feet of climbing later, Black Star glanced over her shoulder to look down at Prin and chuckled sheepishly "wh-what do 'ya think?"

List of describing exercises to help you improve your descriptions.

As I try to improve my technical writing skills, I've noticed my describing skills are pretty lacking. So, here is a list of description exercises.

Setting Description

Pick a setting and describe it in a way that evokes a positive emotion, then describe the same setting negatively.

Pick a setting and try to describe it by using all of your senses.

Find a setting you've written before and write 500 words of pure description on it.

Describe a tree from the point of view of a character that's feeling a strong emotion, whether they're depressed, frustrated, or excited.

Character Description

Pick one of your characters and write a 500 word description of them.

Write a 500 word description on how your character feels about different people.

Pick 3 different characters and write 200 word descriptions for each of their voices.

Write a 500 word description about how your character looks at different people.
