A sentimental farewell to a pretty prominent era of Nintendo 🥲
Even though there were tons of bumps along the way, alongside some questionable decisions that felt detrimental to the overall experience of the console and games, I still enjoyed the run while it lasted, and consider the Nintendo Switch Era to be one of Nintendo’s best, and a huge part of my life overall; I will always cherish the memories I’ve made along the way ❤️

Looking back on Kirby’s 30th Anniversary, Nintendo honestly did a lot
A concert, a blu-ray box set of the Hoshi no Kirby anime from the early 2000s, and and even a panel at the Game Developer’s Conference
I hope Splatoon gets the same treatment

Hopefully Nintendo Live won’t take place in a Western country this year, because that means no concert

What’s Next For Kirby?
Tumblr media
* Speaking to IGN at the Game Developers Conference, Kirby director Shinya Kumazaki said that while he couldn’t share any concrete plans for the future of Kirby, HAL Laboratory’s goal is always to “provide a new gameplay experience.” The developers won’t just remake Kirby games for the sake of it – only if there’s something new they can add. In Return to Dream Land Deluxe, that new experience is the Merry Magolor theme park with mini-games, as well as the extra Magolor Epilogue at the end of the game.
* Kumazaki was asked if we could expect a mix of 2D and 3D Kirby games going forward, existing side-by-side like Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe. Again, Kumazaki wasn’t giving anything away about the future, but did confirm that having 2D games, 3D games, or even “something completely different” are all “within scope” for HAL Laboratory’s future.
* Kumazaki offered what may have been a tiny, additional hint about his thoughts on their next game: “You might have experienced it if you played Forgotten Land, in that it's not quite open world. It's really a 3D game that really utilizes, kind of inherits the playfulness and the ease of play of 2D Kirby games. And that's a unique 3D experience that we want to provide. And so what we want to do moving forward is continue to provide that unique 3D experience, and not necessarily be caught within the boundaries of existing genres.”
Current Project(s):
* Kirby’s 3D platforming adventure gets an extra Nintendo Switch 2 boost in Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World. A mysterious meteor crashes in the world of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, revealing a new story for Kirby. He must use his abilities, including new Mouthful Modes, to clear a trail through uncharted territory.
* Kirby Air Riders, a brand-new title originated from the Nintendo GameCube classic racing-action game Kirby Air Ride, and Masahiro Sakurai, the director of the Super Smash Bros. series, brings back fast-paced action featuring Kirby on his Warp Star machine and other Kirby air riders on a variety of unique machines, as they join together on various racetracks.
* A reliable insider has claimed that Nintendo is porting Kirby: Planet Robobot to Switch in 2025. However, it is not clear whether this will be an enhanced remaster with extra content or a straightforward port. Good Smile has opened pre-orders for a reprint of its figure of the Planet Robobot armor and will be released at the end of the year.

All in all, I’m pretty satisfied with what we got for Splatoon’s 10th Anniversary
Seeing Nintendo communicate directly with their fans with an official confirmation that basically says “yes, we see this is a big deal, and we are going to do more with this” is probably the best thing they could have done and is worth more to me than any Splatfest or major update, because it shows they are listening.

Hearing Nintendo explicitly confirm that Splatoon is going to continue is pretty reassuring, not gonna lie
I always knew that continuation of it was inevitable, but it’s still nice to hear anyways, because it lets us get excited for the future

Glitch‘s whole deal with Amazon is rubbing me the wrong way, and I just don’t feel comfortable funneling money into their Glitch Inn service with the way things are going down right now.
This whole situation really messed with my head, and I need a bit of time to filter out my thoughts.

I’m looking back at an Agent 24 fanfic I wrote almost two years ago and I genuinely can’t believe how well it still holds up.
I’m genuinely really proud of this because it feels like it’s really speaking to me and it’s my voice talking.

Thought I’d whip up a short bio for my 3 and 8 OCs, in honor of them making an official physical appearance in one of agent z’s belated Christmas Special.
In all honesty, I’m only really posting this because I’m in the process of trying to shift my OCs away from the Splatoon world, but I still adore my Agent OCs enough that I still want them to coexist, albeit without really following the parameters of the game canon, because the more I think about my 3&8 OCs, the more I want to look at Agent 24 as it’s own thing, because I feel there’s too many rules for them to follow and lines that are clearly not intended to cross within the blue walls of Nintendo, a company I no longer hold any warm feelings towards.
Coleco - Formerly known as Agent 3 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, and is now called the Captain. Known commonly by their peers as Three. An Inkling of tanned skin, green and blue colored tentacles, orange eyes, and a toned body adorned with scars. They are slightly blind in their left eye after being hijacked by Commander Tartar during the Deepsea Metro escapade. Often portrayed as stoic, steel-gazed and a force to be reckoned with when on the job, they also exhibit a softer side reserved only for their Octoling girlfriend, Marisa, also known as Agent 8, or Eight. They also operate under the alias of DJ_SANGO and DJ in their spare time. Their hairstyle is the default female, and their outfit consists of a B-ball Headband, an Anchor Sweat, loose sport shorts, and Blue Moto Boots. They identify as non-binary and use they/them pronouns.
Marisa - known commonly by her peers as Agent 8, or simply Eight, she is an Octoling of brown skin, baby blue eyes, and fuchsia colored tentacles. Her body is toned, a bright green scar rippling through her back, a permanent reminder of her previous experience as a test subject of the Kamabo Corporation. She has an adventurous, high-spirited personality, taking every opportunity possible to learn more about the surface world after defecting from the Octarian Army and making it out of the Deepsea Metro. She stands at a taller height than her girlfriend, Coleco, and enjoys writing poetry in her spare time. Despite her title, she is not considered an official member of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, but is closely affiliated with them due to her relationship with Coleco. Her hairstyle is the default female, and her outfit consists of the Golden Toothpick, a Custom Painted F3, Capri sweatpants, and Sun & Shade Squidkid IV shoes. They identify as female and use she/her pronouns.
For anyone who is interested, agent z’s channel can be viewed here. Kudos to them for featuring my OCs in their video.

I have an idea for a story that’s inspired by Andrew Niccol’s 1998 psychological comedy-drama film The Truman Show, similar to how Digital Circus was inspired by Harlan Ellison’s post-apocalyptic short story I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.
It’s about a girl who has a silicon chip implanted inside of her brain that allows her to project the vivid imagery of her stories, fantasies and dreams into the real world, all while a Tulpa-like entity hovers around her and a showman screws with her perception of reality.
The working title is “Coleco Vision”.

Animating as a Horror Trope
On the topic of animation, I’ve never actually seen many concepts where the very *process* of animation is used in the form of horror.
It’s hard to explain, but the closest example I can probably describe is the final segment in Don Hertzfeldt’s short film Rejected, when all of the "rejected" cartoons began falling apart in a process of the paper crumpling, characters attempting to break out of the screen, or are sucked into holes in the page.
Gumball also did something similar, by doing an entire segment in an episode where the whole world glitches and deconstructs bit by bit, until everyone is reduced to sticky notes. There was also an episode where all of the characters are forcibly transformed into “live-action” versions of themselves. Who Framed Roger Rabbit had a chemical mixture of turpentine, acetone, and benzine that instantly melted Toons and killed them.
But like, I’ve never actually seen a concept where things like neural networks and the visual cortex inside the brain are used to output images from someone’s imagination directly into the real world, in a “sci-fi” kind of aspect.
Like, if you were to have all sorts of hyper fixations inside of your head, like characters moving around and entire stories being processed in real-time, or even multiple personalities being formed because you spend so much time talking to yourself in all sorts of funny voices, is there a chance they could actually be *alive* and made tangible because of how often you think about them?
Imagine discovering an entirely new process of animation where you’re not picking up a pencil, modeling on a computer, taking photographs in small increments, or even using artificial intelligence to haphazardly slap something together out of thin air.
What if there was an option that’s more powerful (and dangerous), than *all* of the most common and practiced techniques?

Life Goals
In March of 2025, I first joined the Glitch Inn as a way to provide my everlasting support for Glitch Productions, and as part of my long-term goals to eventually become an aspiring animator and land my dream job at Glitch, as well as to create my own show inspired by the likes of various media I have grown up with.
